Andreas stood silently, glaring at King Phillipe with hatred. His mate was being held hostage, staring at him. Laura grimaced as she felt the dagger grazing her neck.
"A–alpha...." Laura's breath caught in her throat. She had exhausted her energy to unleash her technique. Was it their destiny to be separated? Laura didn't want Andreas to suffer more because of her.
"Release my mate," said Alpha Andreas coldly.
"I will never do that, Alpha. Not until I have completed the ritual. And when King Erick has risen, I will discard your mate."
"How dare you!" growled Beta Xander.
Xander immediately ran towards King Phillipe. But suddenly Laura screamed as the blade cut deeper into her neck. Even Alpha Andreas held back the pain he felt because of Laura's injury.
King Phillipe smiled crookedly. "You are just a bunch of losers, why bother wanting Luna from the witches. Realize, Alpha, that destiny is just a game."
The next second, King Phillipe and Laura were surrounded by the smoke, but before they could disappear, Alpha Andreas moved quickly and slashed King Phillipe's stomach with his claws. One of King Phillipe's intestines came out through Alpha Andreas' hand.
"W-what...?" King Phillipe stared at Alpha Andreas with disbelief. They were about to leave, but he didn't expect Alpha Andreas to move so fast that he didn't realize his mistake.
Alpha Andreas clenched his jaw. Laura fell to the ground unconscious. Alpha Andreas quickly picked up his mate.
"Gather them all in the basement," Alpha Andreas said to Beta Xander.
"Yes, Alpha."
Alpha Andreas then used magic to teleport in seconds through his magical bond with Laura. This was possible because they were bound together. Andreas could use basic magic, including telepathy.
Once he arrived in his room, Andreas immediately laid Laura's body on the bed. He called a doctor to examine his mate.
Laura's condition was quite critical, her body temperature was very cold. Alpha Andreas held his mate's hand. Seeing this made Alpha Andreas worried, and made him want to destroy everyone who had done evil to his mate. If only he hadn't arrived late, this certainly wouldn't have happened. He might still be able to joke and laugh with Laura, see his mate's beauty, and take Laura into his arms. Andreas was terrified that Laura would leave him.
"Alpha, Laura's condition is getting worse. I found 1000 Cobra poison in her body. It seems that the poison came from King Phillipe's dagger. "The ingredient is Mermaid tears from the sacred sea. Because the poison in Luna's body is not ordinary poison, luckily Luna has an antidote from your wolf side. But if it's not treated quickly, I'm afraid the poison will soon consume all the antidote and spread throughout Luna's body."
"Then let me get it." Alpha Andreas said, before standing up. Andreas took Laura's hand and kissed his mate's hand sincerely. "I'll be back by your side, Laura. Please hang in there," Alpha Andreas said softly. Unconsciously, a clear crystal tear rolled from Andreas's eye.
The doctor who saw this immediately looked away toward the window.
The pain experienced by a werewolf when their mate is injured is immense. In fact, if one of their partners dies, they do not want to find a new replacement. They would die, then follow their mate in death. The werewolves' loyalty to their mates made them truly fragile when their mate was hurt. Andreas decided to run by transforming into his werewolf side—Frederick.
Frederick ran fast. His legs were muscular and his body was sturdy, each long stride he took causing cracks in the ground he stepped on. Even Frederick's body color had changed to gray with black patterns on it. He jumped and crossed the river. It took another hour for Frederick to reach the sacred lake after covering 400 kilometers. And in that remaining time, Frederick instantly used telepathy and managed to reach the sacred lake immediately
In front of him stood a crow at the gate of the sacred lake.
"Who are you? And what is a wolf doing at the sacred lake?" said the crow. Its head tilted and it looked at Frederick in surprise.
Frederick immediately shifted. Alpha Andreas then said, "I am Alpha Andreas. I want to meet the leader of the mermaids. I have come to retrieve the Mermaid's tears."
"In that case, wait a moment. I will inform King Zenni of your arrival." The crow flew away. About a minute later, it returned and said,
"Please come in, Alpha. King Zenni is waiting for you," said the crow.
Alpha Andreas then headed to a main lake with a beautiful view and a vast expanse of water. There, a guard standing on the water with his staff guided Alpha Andreas in.
"Alpha Andreas, please sit down," said King Zenni. There was a space separating the two lakes. Andreas immediately sat down.
"I hear that your mate has been poisoned, and only the poison of 1000 cobras could bring you here."
"That's right, King Zenni. My mate is currently in critical condition because the poison works quickly. The purpose of my visit is to take the Mermaid's tears from your lake."
"I really appreciate your feelings, Alpha. Very well, I will give it to you." Unconsciously, King Zenni's tears fell, and he immediately caught them using a magical shell. Instantly, the tears turned into golden pearls. Seeing Alpha Andreas' seriousness and struggle, King Zenni's heart felt his suffering.
"Here, Alpha. May your mate recover soon."
Alpha Andreas put the shell away.
"If you want, you can get to your pack in seconds, Alpha. I have a dimensional portal that can take you anywhere."
"Great, then let me use it." King Zenni nodded. He then chanted a spell and a dimensional portal appeared in front of Alpha Andreas.
"I am very grateful for your kindness, King Zenni. May you have a long and prosperous life. My Beta, Xander, will arrive at your sacred lake today. Please don't hesitate to tell me what you want so that I can repay your kindness," said Alpha Andreas.
King Zenni nodded in understanding. "Alright, Alpha."
Alpha Andreas then entered the portal, and instantly the dimensional portal vanished.
