Chapter 18 - Missing

Ezekiel mused for a moment.

"I'm done. Is that guy guarding the entrance now?"

"Yes," Jason replied as he walked toward the monster corpses and examined them one by one.

"For an A grade dungeon, this is very unusual. The number of monsters does not add up. If there were only one boss monster, this dungeon would probably be classified as C or B grade. Is it because there are two boss monsters that the mana reading pushed this dungeon to A grade?"

Ezekiel nodded. "That's what I thought too. Did you receive any news from the hunters who went to clear the other four dungeons?"

Jason smiled at the question. "It has only been seven minutes since the dungeons appeared. No one can clear them as quickly as you."

Ezekiel shrugged. "That is just how strong I am."

"By the way," he continued, "if we cannot find that restorer hunter from the Purple Guild, I will just take that guy outside."

Jason looked surprised. "He is a restorer?"

"Yeah. When I landed, there was no ground in this dungeon. There was only a massive sea of lava. I told Oz to pull you inside because you have that floating prop that can keep us in the air for fifteen minutes. But Oz pulled that guy instead."

"It turned out he was a restorer. A very strong one at that. Allyson is an A class hunter, but it would take her more than ten minutes to restore ground from nothing like that. But this guy? Less than a minute." Ezekiel snapped his fingers.

"No, actually it was only a few seconds. Maybe five. Or seven. I forgot. I did not count. I just closed my eyes because I was falling. I trusted him. And I am glad I did. Look at this place."

Jason noticed the unusual excitement on Ezekiel's face.

"Should I investigate who that hunter is?" he asked.

The smile disappeared from Ezekiel's face as quickly as it had appeared. He nodded.

"Yes. Find out everything about him. Where he lives, where he works, who his family is. Everything."

Ezekiel let out an excited breath. "Looks like coming to this remote town was worth it. I discovered two restorer hunters. If we cannot find the other one, we can just recruit this guy instead."

Jason took an item from his inventory. It looked like a magnifying glass, which he placed over one eye.

As Ezekiel expected, Jason quickly noticed something unusual and frowned.

"Did you collect the valuable materials?" Jason asked.

Ezekiel gestured toward the dungeon gate. "That guy did."

Jason slowly turned his head and stared at him from head to toe.

"And you just let him?"

Ezekiel immediately sensed the beginning of a lecture that could easily last an hour.

"I will leave the dungeon cleanup to you," he said quickly, patting Jason on the shoulder before jumping out of the dungeon.

He did not stop even when Jason shouted after him.

In the end, Jason was left alone inside the dungeon, silently fuming.

He looked at the corpses with pity and frustration. The organs and body parts of these monsters were valuable research materials. They could help explain why this dungeon contained two bosses. But it got taken away just like that.

Jason took another device from his inventory and placed it in front of the corpses. It resembled a traffic cone with several buttons. A mana stone was embedded inside it.

Jason poured his mana into the device, and the cone, which reached up to his waist, began to glow.

The device immediately scanned the monsters and identified the innards and body parts that still contained mana. Jason had commissioned the research team to create this tool so it could measure mana levels in the surrounding area and extract it.

He planned to send these materials to the research team, especially if the other A grade dungeons in the Capital City did not contain double boss monsters.

After confirming that there was nothing else worth collecting, Jason finally left the dungeon.

Outside, the restorer hunter was already gone. Instead, the military had arrived and properly barricaded the area.

Ezekiel stood nearby, radiating a suffocating aura. The cheerful look that once appeared in his brown eyes had vanished. In its place was the sharp gaze that seemed capable of seeing through anyone.

Jason approached him calmly.

"Where is that hunter?" he asked.

Ezekiel's lips curled slightly.

"Jason, be honest. Was I too lenient? I let him take so many high grade items. And not only did he not thank me, he even had the nerve to disappear right after the dungeon was cleared. Tell me, what should I do?"

Jason can read between the lines. And Ezekiel is telling him to find out who that man is. Now.

Jason immediately opened the holographic screen on his smartwatch and contacted the investigation team.

Within minutes, they retrieved the CCTV footage from the inn where the A grade dungeon had appeared. The restorer hunter's image had been captured, and it was used to search the Hunter Association database for a matching identity.

When a match was found, Jason received the hunter's file.

As he read through the data, his finger suddenly stopped scrolling.

Ezekiel had already grown impatient and was about to use his mana stone to teleport to where his car was parked when Jason stopped him.

"I brought my car," Jason said. "I can drive you to where you left yours."

Ezekiel understood immediately that Jason had something important to report. He nodded.

Jason let Ezekiel enter the car first. As the more responsible one, he stayed behind briefly to handle the aftermath.

He explained to the military personnel that the dungeon had already been cleared. He showed them his identification as the Vice Guild Master of the Watcher's Guild and informed them that the dungeon would automatically close and disappear after four hours.

He repeatedly warned them not to allow anyone, especially civilians, to enter the dungeon.
