Chapter 105 - Chapter 105 - The last door

(Hazel POV)

I knew Kyle would come again.

Obsession never leaves quietly.

It lingers.

Waits.

Pretends to be love.

And then returns wearing a different face.

That morning I stood in my office at Smith Company, staring through the glass walls at the city below while Ryan took a call beside me.

His voice was calm, sharp, controlled.

Mine wasn't.

Because my chest had been uneasy since dawn.

And I had learned not to ignore instincts.

Especially after becoming the Eclipse's Heir.

Especially as a Luna.

"Hazel."

Ryan's voice pulled me back.

He had ended the call.

His dark eyes searched mine.

"You're thinking about him."

Not a question.

A fact.

I exhaled.

"He won't stop."

Ryan crossed the room.

Took my hand.

"He will."

Something in his tone made my pulse shift.

Not comfort.

Promise.

Before I could ask—

Bella burst into the office.

"Hazel…"

Her expression had gone pale.

"He's downstairs."

Kyle.

Again.

Ryan's jaw tightened.

Ralph stirred.

But this time I touched Ryan's chest before he could move.

"No."

He frowned.

"Hazel—"

"I need to end this."

For real.

My way.

Kyle was waiting outside the building fountain.

Rain had started falling.

Soft.

Gray.

Almost mournful.

He turned when he saw me.

And his face—

God.

He looked exhausted.

Like obsession had hollowed him out.

But I had bled too once.

And survived.

He stepped toward me.

Then stopped when he saw Ryan shadowing behind me.

"I came alone," Kyle said.

Ryan said nothing.

Which was somehow worse.

Kyle looked at me.

"I can't lose you."

I studied him.

And felt…

nothing romantic.

Only grief for a ghost.

"You already did."

His face flinched.

He reached into his coat and held out a folder.

Malone documents.

Transfer deeds.

Assets.

Ryan's company shares Kyle had somehow gathered.

"I'm giving them back."

Ryan raised a brow.

Interesting.

Kyle swallowed.

"I tried to hurt your world because I couldn't have a place in it."

He looked ashamed.

"For that…"

He lowered his head.

"…I was wrong."

Silence.

Rain whispered around us.

Then he looked at me again.

Raw.

Open.

"Tell me one thing."

"Did you ever love me?"

Ryan went utterly still.

Even Bella held her breath.

And I answered honestly.

"Yes."

Kyle closed his eyes.

Pain flashed there.

"But love without safety becomes suffering."

I stepped closer.

My voice nearly broke.

"I loved the man I hoped you were."

"Not the man who traded me."

A tear slid down his face.

He didn't hide it.

And somehow…

that made this harder.

But necessary.

Then I said the words that ended everything.

"Kyle…"

"You are the last door to my old life."

"And I am closing it."

His shoulders shook once.

As if something inside him collapsed.

Ryan watched me carefully.

Proud.

Silent.

Trusting me to finish this.

Kyle whispered—

"And him?"

I looked at Ryan.

My Alpha.

My ruin.

My peace.

And smiled.

"He is not a door."

"He is home."

Bella made a strangled sound like she might cry.

Ryan looked almost undone.

Kyle saw it too.

Saw he had already lost.

Finally—

he nodded.

Not defeated.

Released.

He placed the documents in Ryan's hand.

"For what it's worth…"

He looked at Ryan.

"Protect her better than I did."

Ryan's voice was low.

"With my life."

Kyle gave one final look at me.

Then turned.

And walked into the rain.

Without looking back.

And I knew—

this time—

he was gone.

Back upstairs, Ryan shut the office door behind us.

The room suddenly felt too small.

Too charged.

He stared at me.

I stared back.

Then he crossed the distance in three strides.

Hands framing my face.

Eyes burning.

"That…"

he whispered,

"was the bravest thing I have ever seen."

I laughed shakily.

"I was terrified."

His thumb brushed my cheek.

"You were magnificent."

Heat rose in me.

Dangerous.

Tender.

Then Ryan leaned close—

mouth hovering near mine—

but not touching.

Again.

That unbearable restraint.

His voice dropped.

"Hazel…"

"Yes?"

"When this is over…"

His eyes darkened.

"I have something to ask you."

My heart stumbled.

And I knew—

something bigger was coming.

Something that would change everything.

And somewhere in the rain—

a chapter of my old life had ended.

So another could begin.
