Chapter 71 - Chapter 71- Strength in shadows

The Red Moon Pack mansion was alive with quiet energy. Even though it was late, the lights in the training grounds and the mansion itself cast long reflections across the sleek modern buildings.

Hazel stood in the center of the training grounds, her hands trembling slightly as she practiced controlling her power. Sparks of shadow and silver light danced along her fingers, bending to her will as she grew more confident.

Beside her, Ryan watched silently. Every muscle in his body was tense, ready to intervene if even a hint of danger approached. His eyes softened as he observed her, pride barely contained beneath his usual cold exterior.

"You're doing well," he murmured, stepping closer. "More focus. Let it flow, not fight it."

Hazel swallowed, nodding. The presence of Ryan, steady and commanding, gave her courage. She could feel Ralph, Blade, and Venom stirring within him, coiling like shadows ready to strike—protective, waiting for any threat.

From the edge of the grounds, Liam and his mate Klara, Nick and Bella, and Sera watched carefully. They had become Hazel's support system, each silently ready to assist, teach, or defend.

Mila lingered in the shadows as usual, but Hazel hardly noticed her. Her focus was entirely on Ryan and the pulse of energy she was learning to control.

Gloria approached quietly, her presence calm and comforting. She rested a hand gently on Hazel's shoulder.

"You're doing beautifully, Hazel. Just like a daughter I've always wanted," she said softly. Hazel smiled faintly, feeling a warmth she hadn't expected from anyone outside Ryan.

Ryan moved closer, lowering his voice so only Hazel could hear.

"You're stronger than you know… and every moment you grow, you're proving it."

Hazel glanced at him, their eyes locking. Her heart raced. "I—I feel it. I really do."

Ryan's lips curved into a rare, almost imperceptible smile. "Good. That's what I wanted to hear."

Suddenly, a faint tremor passed through the ground. Hazel's senses sharpened instantly. The Devourer stirred—not fully awake, but testing boundaries. A ripple of darkness brushed at her consciousness, daring her to falter.

Hazel took a deep breath and let the energy flow through her. Shadows twisted, bending, dancing to her command. She held control.

Ryan's voice was low and fierce.

"See? You're mine. And no one… no one will take this from you."

Hazel shivered at the possessive power behind his words, her pulse racing. She could feel the full weight of his claim—not just physical, but emotional, spiritual, protective.

Gloria's comforting hand remained on her shoulder. "You're safe here, Hazel. And you'll always have people around you who believe in you," she said warmly.

Hazel nodded. For the first time, she felt truly protected, and not just because of her power, but because Ryan—and everyone around her—would not let anything happen to her.

Meanwhile, somewhere far away in the human world, Kyle Malone stared at the closed gates of Ryan Smith's mansion.

He didn't know about the pack, about supernatural powers, or about the storm of energy he would never be able to touch.

All he knew was frustration. Helplessness. And a growing fear that Hazel was gone from his world forever.

Back at the Red Moon Pack, the night continued.

Hazel's shadow and silver glow illuminated the grounds as she raised her hands again, feeling the Devourer hum in obedience, bending to her will for the first time fully.

And Ryan? He stepped closer, wrapping his coat around her shoulders gently, a silent promise of dominance, protection, and claim.

The world beyond the gates—Kyle's world—could wait.

Hazel was here. Safe. Powerful. And entirely his.
