Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 - We just used them

Luna and Yuna stood silently near the mangled corpses of Taosho and Kiki. Blood pooled around Taosho's chest and as for Kiki, blood surrounded her head.

From afar, someone observed the grim scene through a specialized scope. Hidden in the shadows, he was a subordinate of the Fauvism the fighter Division . Though he possessed no wonder stone power , his terror was evident as he witnessed the bloody aftermath. Yet, despite his trembling hands, he meticulously filmed everything with a high-tech camera designed to record images and videos from great distances.

When the recording was complete, he tucked the camera into his coat pocket and made his way to a nearby bus stop. He waited patiently until a motorcycle pulled up beside him. Without exchanging words, he hopped on the back and the two rode off into the city.

Eventually, they arrived at a towering building—one of the many dens used by a criminal gang under the control of the fighter class of the Fauvism . Even the entrance exuded danger

A blindfolded man stood surrounded by three others. They took turns aiming and firing at him, laughing as if he were no more than a puppet for target practice.

Yes, this place reeked of blood and mercilessness.

The cameraman ascended to the third floor and approached a distinct golden door, one unlike the others. He knocked once.

"Enter," came a voice from within.

He stepped inside to find Shiro seated behind a desk, cigarette in hand, calmly reading a book. Shiro glanced up, eyes sharp.

"Did you do what I ordered?"

"Yes, Lord Shiro. I captured everything that happened during Lucian and his team's confrontation with Luna Ribwan."

"Hand me the footage."

"At once."

The man passed the tape over. Shiro opened a drawer, retrieved a sleek laptop and inserted the device. The room fell silent as he watched the footage in full.

When the video ended, Shiro leaned back with a satisfied smirk.

"Well done. This gives us critical intel."

"No need for thanks, sir."

Shiro nodded slowly. "According to the footage… both of the twins used power of wonder stones "

"It's possible one of them inherited a wonder stone by blood and the other received one by transfer. Or maybe both through transfer, my lord."

"That's a likely theory. Besides, we still don't know everything about their real mother. She died in an unknown place… at an unknown time."

"I don't understand, sir."

"I mean, we know nothing about their early lives. They appeared out of nowhere when they were ten—handed over to their father, Frodo, to be raised. What happened to them before that is a complete mystery."

"There's more?"

"Yes… they both disappeared at age twelve under mysterious circumstances. For more than year. When they returned, Frodo claimed they'd been on a trip. But they were underage. Why would he send two girls on a solo journey?"

"How strange... Is there anything I can do to help investigate this further?"

"No. Just finish your assigned tasks."

"Yes, sir."

"Dismissed."

The cameraman left.

Shiro, meanwhile, replayed the footage again, this time with scrutiny. He opened a file of handwritten notes from the same drawer—detailed deductions on Luna's strange ability used against him and Warren during a previous encounter. One note stood out: a terrifying power that hurt the enemy leaving only his bones making him bleeding

It had once belonged to the legendary Tominako Reed, who developed it after absorbing the powers of Henky, the Air Stone inheritor.

As Shiro studied the pages, someone burst into the room.

It was Warren, accompanied by Dalia.

Shiro didn't even look up. "Do you not know how to knock, Warren?"

Warren : "I know. I just didn't feel like it."

"You're annoying."

"What's going on? Why's your office a mess?"

"Come here. Watch this footage and you'll understand."

"Fine."

Warren and Dalia approached, watching the video with growing intrigue. Dalia recoiled in horror. Warren, however, remained cold and unreadable.

"So you actually sent them," Warren said. "I thought you'd at least inform me first, you bastard."

Shiro : "No need. What matters is we recorded everything. And I believe I've reached a conclusion."

"Let's hear it."

"According to this footage, Luna Ribwan possesses a special technique that use air power ."

"And?"

"I did some digging. That power—'Bone Separator'—was originally Henky's, the Air Stone inheritor, and later perfected by Tominako Reed."

"You're sure of this?"

"Absolutely. It is a technique that involves applying heavy gas pressure to a specific area and obliterating everything. In vertebrates, it leaves only the bones, and it causes pain and bleeding."

"That would explain what happened to us the last time. When we attacked her, she countered with that terrifying move."

"Exactly. Both our attacks dissolved mid-air."

Dalia, still shocked, spoke softly. "But Lord Warren… if that girl Luna is that powerful, shouldn't we have warned Lucian and the others before sending them?"

Warren shrugged. "That wasn't necessary. We merely used them to gather intel."

"But they were our comrades. You should've at least let them know how strong their opponent was!"

"Don't be emotional, Dalia. Lucian wanted revenge. We gave him the chance. If he succeeded—good. If not—we got the footage."

"I… I see. Sorry…"

It was clear now: Warren and Shiro had knowingly sent Lucian and his team to their deaths, using them as expendable tools for data collection. Dalia stood there, torn between grief for her fallen friends and rage at the cold calculations of her superiors.

Warren noticed the shift in her expression. "Something bothering you?"

"I just… need a glass of water."

"Then go."

Dalia exited both the office and the building, leaving the two men to continue their discussion—now centered on the possibility that Yuna, too, might be an heir of a wonder stone.

Dalia walked until she found a tree and sat beneath it. She cried quietly, mourning Taosho and Kiki. Despite their involvement in the elite faction, she and the other junior members had grown close—like family.

Meanwhile, back at Kaos Team's base, Luna and Yuna had returned with Maria and a barely conscious Lucian. After securing him in the basement, tied to a chair, the team shared news of Clara's possible location—written on the note Sam had given to Sonny.

Lucian, unconscious, drifted into a bizarre dream. He was with Taosho and Kiki in a forest, lounging around a campfire, gambling and smoking marijuana

Lucian won the hand and Taosho groaned.

"You're cheating, bastard. No way you win every time."

"Call it luck," Lucian grinned.

"Damn you."

"Are you cheating?" Kiki asked.

Lucian : "Nope. I swear."

"It's annoying how you always win."

"Only to you. But I'm done for today. Let's head back."

Taosho : " Agreed."

As Taosho stood up, he suddenly screamed—his chest was bleeding and only bones remained there , he collapsed, lifeless. Lucian raced toward him but then heard Kiki shriek. He turned to see that her head was hit by air to leave only bones on it

Luna stood behind her, blood staining her face and hands.

"This is your fault," she said, voice sharp as steel.

The scene was horrifying. Lucian jolted awake, gasping in terror. Still tied to the chair, he found Sonny and Chris standing nearby, deep in conversation. He groaned, drawing Chris's attention.

"Good morning," Chris said mockingly.

Lucian : "Screw you all, bastards…"

"You're really rude."

"Where's that bitch Luna Riwan? I'll kill her myself!"

Chris's fist struck him across the face, splitting his lip.

"Don't you ever speak ill of Luna, you filth, or I'll make you regret it."

Sonny intervened, calm but firm. "Chris, we're not here to kill him—just to get information."

Lucian spat blood. "You idiots think I'll tell you anything? Especially after you killed my friends?"

"We'll see about that."

Sonny injected Lucian with a blue fluid. Moments later, he lost consciousness.

Two days later, everyone except Tristan and William headed to the address Sam had written.

The location? A children's park.

Dozens of kids and families played among the swings and slides.

Jayden, Merrick, Sonny, Salvador, Chris and the twins all looked around in confusion.

Jayden frowned. "Shouldn't this meeting be somewhere… deserted?"

"I agree," Merrick replied. "I think they did this deliberately—to stop us from fighting. We wouldn't risk harming civilians."

"Such a dirty tactic…"

Suddenly, they felt it—a surge of power. Seven figures approached together.

They were unmistakable: elite professionals from the National Division team.

Sam. Kuro. David. Siran. Nina. Milan. Camila. Hall.

Sonny whispered, "That blond one is Sam. The rest must be his teammates. Stay sharp."

Luna and Yuna's faces both twisted in shock—as if they'd seen ghosts.

Jayden noticed but didn't have time to ask. The enemy was nearly upon them.

Merrick stepped forward. "We've fulfilled our end of the deal. Give Clara back."

Sam responded coolly. "Of course, Merrick Isaburo."

One of the gang members carried Clara forward and gently set her on the ground. Salvador and Sonny rushed to untie her.

Merrick, however, stared intently at David and Kuro. Their faces stirred something in his memory. And then Luna and Yuna both stepped forward, slowly, their expressions unreadable.

Chris narrowed his eyes. "What's going on, Luna? Yuna?"

No reply. Either they didn't hear—or they didn't care to answer.

Then, something stranger happened.

Kuro and David also stepped forward—mirroring the twins.

David spoke first. "It's been a long time, sister Luna."

Kuro added, "Sister Yuna… it's been too long."

Their voices held no mockery. Just calm certainty.

What was the connection between these four?

What hidden truth bound them together?

And how would this reunion end?
