Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 -Nobody regret doing the right thing

Lucian was strapped to a chair—one with no arms or legs to rest upon—and he was lost in thought, remembering something from the past.

Some time ago…

He had been restrained then as well, and Jayden and Tristan were with him. It was in that moment the Ribwan twins, Luna and Yuna, entered the room. Upon seeing them, Lucian sneered with bitter sarcasm.

"Welcome, the terrifying Luna and Yuna."

Luna narrowed her eyes at him. "Still holding a grudge because we killed your comrades?"

"Of course. Did you really think I wouldn't resent you for that?"

Yuna crossed her arms. "Are you out of your mind? You and your friends were the ones who attacked us first. Did you forget that?"

"We were simply carrying out our mission."

Luna : "And we were fulfilling ours—defending ourselves. You're the ones who signed your death warrants when you insisted on fighting me instead of retreating like I warned you."

Lucian's voice turned sharp. "I don't recall forcing you to kill Kiki and Taoshu."

"And I don't recall forcing you to stay and fight instead of running away," Luna retorted. "You had the choice."

"I'm not—"

Jayden cut in, his voice cold. "Enough of this pointless back-and-forth. We don't need to justify our actions to this idiot."

Lucian grunted. "Same applies to me. I don't owe you any explanation for what I've done."

Luna stepped forward, her voice suddenly quieter. "You really are different from her."

Lucian's eyes narrowed. "From who?"

"From Dalia."

"Dalia?!" he repeated in disbelief.

"Yes," Luna replied. "At least she had the decency to admit her mistake and try to make it right."

"What are you talking about—"

A figure stepped out from behind the Ribwan twins. Dalia. She had been silently listening the entire time.

Lucian's eyes widened in astonishment. "Dalia! How did you get here?"

"It's a long story," she said softly. "But I need to tell you the truth. I can't hide it from you any longer."

"What truth?"

"I've joined them, Lucian. I've joined Kaos Team."

"Dalia!! How could you? Did you forget they're the ones who killed Taoshu and Kiki? And Maria too?"

"They weren't the reason for their deaths."

Lucian froze. "What do you mean?"

"They used you, Lucian. You and the others were just tools—experiments to observe the extent of Luna Ribwan's power."

"What... are you saying?"

"I'm telling the truth. I heard it with my own ears."

Lucian fell silent, his mind torn. Should he be angry at Warren and Shiro for using him and his friends like disposable pawns? Or should he be furious at Dalia for betraying the Fauvism and joining Kaos?

Dalia looked him in the eyes. "I know you'll hate me for this… but I believe in what I'm doing. The Fighter Division hurts people for the pettiest of reasons. What makes you think I wouldn't be next after you?"

Lucian shook his head. "I don't know what to say to you, Dalia. But mark my words… you'll regret this."

"You're wrong," she said firmly. "No one regrets doing the right thing. Yes, I'm risking my life. If they find out, they'll kill me in the worst way imaginable. But I won't turn back."

Lucian felt something stir within him. Her words struck deep. Yet he said nothing more. He simply sat there, quiet… conflicted.

It all made sense now. He had wondered why Kaos Team had stopped interrogating him so suddenly. It was Dalia. She had become their informant—a walking well of secrets. With her on their side, they had no further need to question him.

Back to the present…

Lucian sighed deeply in the basement, still restrained, listening to the chaos of the battle raging above. Dalia's words haunted him. He didn't know what to think anymore.

Above, Jayden and William had just moved away from the injured Clara. Both drew their weapons, prepared for the next fight.

David, without hesitation, used teleportation, appearing before William, aiming to strike. William dodged, but David teleported again, appearing behind him. He almost landed a blow—until Jayden intervened, launching a wave of metal shards. David leapt back, narrowly avoiding the attack.

Jayden approached William. "I'll handle David. You take Sam."

William nodded. "Understood."

The clash began. Jayden and David danced in a duel that resembled a game of tag, Jayden deliberately avoiding any direct contact, knowing full well the danger.

Meanwhile, William, now masked, moved slowly toward Sam.

Sam gave him a mocking smirk. "Come to play, masked man?"

"No," William replied. "I came to fight."

"I see… You're a fire element user, aren't you? I'm water. That puts me at a clear advantage. Water extinguishes fire."

William raised his weapon. "True. But volcanoes swallow everything—water included."

"Impressive. You can turn your fire into lava? Not bad," Sam said with a grin. "But don't forget—I can freeze water and turn it into ice. Ice can smother even your lava."

"We'll see about that. Enough talk. Let's begin."

Sam immediately summoned his Glass Wall and shattered it into deadly shards, attacking William from all sides—just as he had done with Sony before. William summoned a volcanic shield, encasing himself in lava.

But Sam's shards—infused with his icy power—pierced through William's lava shield. Still, William carved a path through them with his double-headed spear, deflecting what he could, though his legs and back were injured in the process.

No rest. Sam charged at him, blades of glass in hand, pulsing with frigid energy.

William blocked with his spear, now brimming with both flame and magma. He knew that fire alone wouldn't be enough—Sam's icy abilities would nullify it. The two clashed in a brutal, evenly matched battle.

Elsewhere, David hurled sonic waves at Jayden. Jayden blocked them with his weapon, then watched David teleport again, aiming to touch Jayden's blade.

But Jayden was ready—he quickly coated his weapon in sharp metal fragments, preventing David from making contact with his chaos-infused hand.

David hissed in frustration. Another failed attempt.

Jayden smirked. "Frustrated that you still can't touch me?"

"You must've been great at tag as a kid," David growled. "But I've got a plan to end this game."

He teleported again. Jayden stood ready, waiting.

But David didn't attack.

Jayden scanned the area, confused. ' He said he had a plan to beat me, but he didn't even try to hit me. What is he—'

Then it clicked.

William! David was going for William, who was still locked in combat with Sam.

As the two clashed, David appeared directly behind William—his smirk cold and cruel—and touched the back of his head.

William screamed in agony.

His weapon dropped. Fire burst from his body, flaring in all directions. He collapsed, paralyzed.

Sam turned to David with a scowl. "Dude. Seriously? Why interfere in my fight?"

David shrugged. "You looked tired from fighting Clara. Figured I'd lend a hand—and punish this fool for helping Jayden."

"Well, I'm not tired. And don't think I'm going to thank you."

William now knelt, helpless, fire spewing uncontrollably from his body. That was the effect of David's unique power: Disorder—it robbed its victim of control over their abilities and weapons.

A devastating ability. All David had to do was touch his opponent—or their weapon—with his right hand, cloaked in a distortion-like aura that resembled TV static.

Jayden, enraged, hurled a bolt of lightning at the two. They dodged it easily. He dashed toward William, desperate to help.

"William! Can you hear me?" Jayden called out.

William raised his head, his voice strained. "Be… behind you…"

Jayden turned.

Too late.

David appeared, hand outstretched, and touched him.

Jayden screamed. Flames erupted around him as the Disorder took hold.

Both Jayden and William—crippled. Helpless.

David sneered. Finally, he'd succeeded in touching the elusive Jayden. Sam approached.

"Since you disabled them," he said with a grin, "let me be the one to kill them."

"Be my guest," David replied.

Sam summoned his Glass Wall again, breaking it into shards, aiming to strike both Jayden and William in one deadly blow.

But someone intercepted.

Luna.

She appeared in a blink, using teleportation, and blocked the shards with a shield composed of bone-separator energy—causing the shards to collapse into harmless dust. Sam hadn't infused them with ice this time.

Then, another force surged in.

Sony.

He fired sonic waves at David and Sam, forcing them to retreat.

Jayden and William had lost this battle—but not because they were weak. David's Disorder was too overpowering. Without Luna and Sony, they would've been dead.

Elsewhere…

Chris and Salvador prepared to face off against Ciran and Kuro.

They knew Kuro's binding powers were dangerous. They had to be careful.

Ciran wielded fire. Kuro, lightning.

The battle opened with a dual assault—Ciran's fireball and Kuro's lightning bolt. Chris and Salvador countered with a water wave and lightning blast of their own.

The fights split.

Chris vs. Kuro.

Salvador vs. Ciran.

Chris lunged with his axe, but Kuro blocked it with his shackles. The two clashed for a while, then separated. Suddenly, five shackles flew from Kuro's weapon, circling Chris.

Kuro was attempting to bind him. Even a single shackle could nullify part of Chris's powers.

But Chris had been warned. Luna and Yuna had told them everything about Kuro and David.

He summoned water in a wide ring around himself to disrupt the shackles.

But Kuro broke through it, attacking with a lightning-infused metal piece. It struck Chris hard, electrocuting him and sending him crashing to the ground.

As Kuro charged to finish it, Chris flung his icy axe at him. Kuro deflected it easily.

But then—he felt a chill at his back.

He turned, just in time to block a sudden avalanche of ice with his weapon and leap back.

Chris had used the remaining water to create ice behind Kuro.

Kuro chuckled. "Clever and persistent. But you're still not on my level."

"We'll see who's stronger," Chris said, panting.

"You're brave, I'll give you that."

Kuro attacked again with his lightning-infused shackles. Chris blocked with a wave of water—but one of the five shackles latched onto his axe.

Suddenly, he couldn't channel his power into it.

The axe was sealed. Just a normal weapon now. Worse, he couldn't recall it.

Kuro launched a lightning bolt. Chris blocked it with an ice shield.

Then he felt his axe twitching, slipping from his grip.

It was being pulled—controlled by Kuro.

The lightning user manipulated metal, and the shackled axe had become vulnerable.

The weapon flew from Chris's hand. Kuro aimed to bring it crashing down on his skull—but Chris raised an ice barrier just in time, repelling it.

Chris now stood unarmed, panting. Trapped.

What could he do without his weapon?

And what would become of Jayden and William, now crippled by Disorder?

Could Luna defeat David—the very man she once called brother?
