Chapter 9 - Chapter - 9 First meeting with Tristan

Yuna had finished her school day early. She'd arrived home before Luna, changed her clothes and settled in for a short rest. Just as she was sinking into the cushions, her phone rang—an unknown number. Curiously, she answered, and a familiar voice greeted her.

"Hello, how are you?"

"…Jayden?"

"Yes, it's me."

"I'm fine. How's your day?"

"Boring, mostly. But at least it's been trouble-free."

"Yeah better than day filled with troubles , By the way… how did you get my number ?"

"Actually, I have both yours and Luna's. She gave them to me so we could contact each other if anything came up."

"That idiot never told me!"

"Seems like you two know everything about each other."

"Of course—we're more than friends or siblings. We're twins. Identical, actually."

"Yeah."

"Jayden… do you have any siblings? Any family?"

"They all died… in an accident."

"Oh… I'm so sorry. I didn't know."

"It's okay. Took me a long time to get over it, to be honest. But I've moved on—I have a new life now and new companions."

"Yeah…"

" Yuna, I just called to let you know—if you or your silly twin need anything, I'm here. I'll help however I can "

"Thanks a lot. If you ever need anything too, we'll help you."

"I have to go now—got a few things to take care of."

"Alright, good luck."

Just as Yuna ended the call, another came through—this time from Merrick.

"Hey Merrick."

"Yuna, how are you?"

"I'm good. You?"

"I'm alright but we've got a bit of a situation."

"What's going on?"

"We're calling a meeting to discuss it. You, Luna, and that new guy Jayden you mentioned—come too."

"When is it?"

"Tomorrow evening."

"Got it. I'll let Luna and Jayden know."

After hanging up, Yuna sipped her chocolate milk when Luna finally walked in and made her way over.

Luna: "There you are, lounging and drinking chocolate milk like it's a vacation. You didn't even bother to make us dinner?"

Yuna: "Stop whining. I'll make dinner once I finish this."

"Oh, and there's something important I need to tell you."

"What is it?"

"Some alumni visited our class today—seven of them, to be exact. I'm certain one of them is an Heir to wonder Stone. I could feel it. They didn't stay long though, just came to greet our teacher and left."

"A new Heir? Let's make him our ally!"

"First, we need to find out who it is."

"But how?"

"We ask Liam again."

Liam was in his room, headphones on, fully absorbed in his video game. It was the weekend—prime time for him. His mother knocked several times, but when he didn't answer, she entered and yanked his headphones off saying with

Mother: "Liam! I've told you not to blast the volume like this—it'll ruin your ears. I knocked several times!"

Liam: "Mom, please, it's the weekend… and I already lost the game. I just hope this interruption was worth it."

"It is. You have visitors—Luna and Yuna."

"They're here?"

"Yes, they're in the living room waiting for you."

"Thanks. I'll go meet them."

Liam descended the stairs and found the girls waiting on the couch.

Liam: "So, what brings you two here? Missed me already?"

Luna: "Of course not. We need your help."

Yuna: "Luna, don't be rude."

Liam: "Don't worry, Yuna. I'm used to her attitude. So, what do you need?"

Luna: "Seven alumni came to visit our teacher. I want to find out where they live."

"Why?"

"One of them apparently lost a package, and our teacher insists I deliver it. But it has no name or address on it, and I'll have to visit them all."

"That's… strange."

"I know, but I don't have a choice."

"Alright, I'll help—but give me some time. I've been swamped lately."

"Take your time. Just don't take too long."

"I'll have the info for you the morning after tomorrow. That work?"

"Perfect."

"Deal, then."

After that the twins left Liam's house and headed to the Kaos Team base, where the others—Merrick, Soni, Clara, Salvador, and Jayden—were already gathered. They were welcomed in and joined the group.

Merrick: "Alright, Jayden. Introduce yourself."

Jayden: "My name is Durbin Jayden. I'm an Heir of the Lightning Stone. I don't have a particular job. I inherited my house from my parents, and my dad used to run a bakery, which still provides my income. Oh, and this is my weapon."

Jayden pulled his weapon out to show them.

Salvador was fair skinned girl with brown hair and green eyes

Soni in the other hand was tan skinned with orange hair and blue eyes and he said when he was Jayden's weapon

Soni: " Wow, it's almost as tall as you"

Salvador : " Looks powerful."

Jayden: "It is. Now your turn—introduce yourselves."

Merrick: "I'm Merrick twenty five years old , a lawyer. Heir of the Water Stone. My weapon is a longsword."

Clara: "I'm Clara, twenty three years old and Heir of the Fire Stone. I work in administration. My weapon's a barbed whip."

Soni : "I'm Soni , twenty two years old, Air Stone Heir. I'm a farmer. My weapon—spiked steel gauntlets."

Salvador: "I'm Salvador, twenty four years old , another Lightning Heir. I'm a vet. My weapon is a spiked hammer."

Jayden: "Wow, everything you guys have is spiked."

Merrick: "That's because weapons tied to the Strange Stones are meant to be dangerous and strong."

Yuna: "But… my shield isn't dangerous."

Everyone laughed at Yuna's comment before Merrick added

"Besides your defensive shield, you have a bow and arrows for offense. And remember—combat is more about strategy than brute strength. The legendary Reed had your same shield and the Water element… before he absorbed his comrades' powers."

Jayden: "Really?"

"Yeah."

"But how did he invent absorption?"

"He was a doctor. He did extensive research and finally discovered how to fuse powers into his blood."

"So that's why the twins can use each other's abilities through blood."

"Exactly. He fused his comrades' powers into their blood too. All four of them could share elements, just like the Ribwan twins do now."

Merrick set down his coffee and said

"Guys, I've got some news."

Luna: "Let me guess… bad news?"

"Yep."

"Damn it…" she muttered to herself.

Merrick : "The Fauvism is active again and causing troubles "

Yuna: "What?!"

Soni: "Damn it."

Clara: "Just what we needed…"

Salvador: "This is a problem."

Jayden: "Wait—someone explain. What's this thing Fauvism ?"

Clara : "The Fauvism is a gang of wonder Stone Heirs who use their powers for selfish, destructive purposes."

" You mean it's the same as the Red Hands organization's activities, but why was it named that? "

Merrick : " Actually, it had another, less well-known name, but this one is the most famous because, at the beginning of the 20th century, its director at the time loved Fauvism paintings and recommended it be named that way before he died, so his wish was fulfilled "

" That's strange."

" What we know is They hunt other Heirs to drain their powers and transfer them to one of their own followers "

"Wait—so they've replicated Tominako Reed's absorption ability?"

"No. Research shows it's different . These guys use a device that absorbs the power and weapon to normal human but the one who the device used in him would be dead."

"Can't a Heir absorb another after they die? Like gain both stones and weapons?"

"They tried. The Device doesn't work if the absorber is already a Heir. It fails every time—and some even died from trying."

"So Reed really is one of a kind…"

"He is. In any case, be careful. If one of their members finds out about any of you, they'll try to kill and drain your powers—especially you, Ribwan twins."

Luna: "Don't worry, Merrick. We're the heirs of Legendary Reed "

"I'm serious."

"Alright, alright."

The meeting eventually ended and everyone went their separate ways, now fully aware of the new threat.

The next morning, Yuna brushed her teeth and headed toward the kitchen—only to find Luna already at the door, putting on her shoes.

Yuna: "Where are you going?"

Luna: "Liam called. He found info on the graduates we asked about."

"Really? I thought he'd need more time."

"His mom grounded him and took away his games. So he had nothing better to do."

"I Knew video games were involved somehow. But Luna… don't you think this is foolish? We could stir up trouble—especially now that the Fauvism is back."

"Relax. What's wrong with finding out who the new Heir is?"

"Fine… but let's be careful."

Yuna changed clothes and the twins visited each address Liam had listed. But despite confirming the graduates were home, they felt no sign of any wonder Stone energy. As they walked toward a nearby restaurant, Yuna scolded her twin.

Yuna: "Happy now?"

Luna: "No…"

"Me neither. We searched everywhere and found nothing. Are you sure you felt a Heir?"

"Stop it—I'm one hundred percent sure I sensed one during that class."

"Then maybe Liam got one address wrong. Let's postpone this for now."

"Alright."

They had lunch and parted ways—Yuna heading to the library for research and Luna going to a classmate's place to return a borrowed book.

But as Luna climbed the stairs, a young man was descending. It was Tristan.

He didn't live here.

As they passed each other, both froze—each feeling it.

They locked eyes.

"Is there something on my face?" Luna asked.

Tristan: "You're a wonder Stone Heir, aren't you?"

"Let's talk privately. Somewhere no one will see."

"There's an old warehouse behind this building. It's deserted."

He led the way. Once alone, he turned to her.

"People rarely come here, especially in this cold. So relax."

Luna: "I am."

His tone changed.

" Tell me honestly—are you part of the Fauvism ? "

"Of course not! I have nothing to do with them."

"Then why were you and your twin looking up those graduates' addresses?"

"You knew about that?"

"Yes. When I entered your class, I sensed another Heir nearby—and knew they'd feel me too. They'd look for me. Naturally, they'd suspect the other visiting students—not the escort who brought them in."

"So you watched us, confirmed we were Heirs…"

"Heirs? How can both of you be Heirs? Only one twin usually inherits a wonder Stone…"

"Ugh, not this again. Forget it. What matters is—I'm not with that gang. So calm down."

"I've heard that lie before. My friend died for trusting it."

"Fine. I'll leave. You won't have to deal with me again."

"I won't let you."

Before she could teleport away, Tristan grabbed her hand, trying to go with her. She struggled trying to pull her hand away from him, but he grabbed her other hand. She shouted angrily at his face,

"Get away from me, for God's sake!"

Tristan: "I'll kill you before you go tell the rest of your damn friends about me and unite against me to kill me and drain my power."

Luna : " You fool ! , can't you understand? I'm not part of the Fauvism gang ! "

Tristan refused to listen to her, determined to fight. Luna opened her mouth and shot a fireball straight at his face. Tristan couldn't decide whether to be stunned or to flee but it was clear that fleeing was the priority, so he quickly stepped back. Luna's fireball hit the ground, burning the area. Tristan stared at her before saying,

Tristan: "How did you release fire powers? Aren't you an heir of Air Stone?"

Luna: " I'm not obligated to answer any of your questions, but to clarify, I am not working with the Fauvism"

Tristan realized Luna wasn't lying, then turned his back and apologized.

Tristan: "Sorry about that."

Luna: "Don't worry, I've been through much worse "

"We've all endured the cruelty of time but the important thing is that we can move past it and keep going."

"You suddenly went from wanting to kill me to sounding like a philosopher."

Tristan smiled and then turned to her, who stepped forward to offer him a paper.

Luna: "Listen, you're not alone. Though I'm not from the Fauvism gang, I have companions who are also heirs of stones and you could be a friend of ours."

She handed him the paper, and he took it.

Luna: "Visit the address on this paper if you decide to join us."

Tristan: "I'll think about it."

"Alright, then. Goodbye for now, and don't annoy me again."

With that, Luna immediately left using a teleportation technique and Tristan returned home.

Luna entered the house, munching on pieces of chocolate, when she heard Yuna's voice call out,

Yuna: "Did you return the book from your classmate?"

Luna: "Yeah, after battling one of the annoying ones."

"What? You fought someone? Was the person you fought from the Fauvism ? "

"No, just annoying person "

"Could you stop with the sarcasm and just tell me, for God's sake?"

"Fine."

Luna then told Yuna everything that had happened between her and Tristan. Afterward, Yuna asked

"Aren't you afraid he might be faking it, one of the Fauvism members trying to gather information on Stone heirs to trap them ? We could be in danger."

Luna: "No, I'm sure he's not one of them. I can tell who's lying and who's not and I know he's telling the truth."

"Do you think he'll agree to join us?"

"I don't know and honestly, I don't care."

"Your nerves are really cold, huh?"

"Yeah, they need a heater."

The two girls laughed at what Luna said before they ate dinner together. Afterward, they went to bed, exhausted from the busy day, especially Luna.
