"Yvette, Caius is not here," Lucy, that utter moron, stated the obvious. "Are you still going to wait for him? It's getting late. You might fall sick again."
My smile twitched as I fought to keep it in place.
"Just for a little while longer. I want to see him before I go to bed," I said, smoothing down the pleats of my skirt with my hands so I wouldn't reach out to claw Lucy's stupid face for asking such a nonsensical question. "All of you can leave― I know you're busy."
I pasted an understanding smile on my face, and these girls bought it, hook, line, and sinker, audibly relieved that they didn't have to wait along with me for Caius to show up.
"Okay, Yvette." They nodded and smiled back at me, and Lucy even dared to pat my shoulder as a form of encouragement. "Don't worry, I'm sure Caius will be here soon. There's no way he'd leave you waiting for long."
