Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Goal

Chapter 42: Goal

Lin Ning said, "I didn't expect the current Blue Star to be facing such a dire situation. It's truly unimaginable."

Su Ke replied, "That's exactly why we need to cultivate hard." Wang Zhong clenched his fists and said, "We can't let those beasts invade our home!"

Zhang Xin nodded. "Well said. According to the state's directives, the purpose of our hard cultivation is to protect humanity and reclaim lost territory."

She paused briefly, then continued in a low voice, "But besides that, I personally have another ambition." The three of them asked in unison, "What is it?"

"To seek revenge." Zhang Xin spoke the words slowly, her tone filled with killing intent, making even the surrounding air seem colder.

"Back then, when those Vicious Beasts came through the spatial rifts and slaughtered our people at will, did they show any mercy? No." Her voice remained calm, yet heavy. "Since that's the case, why should we show mercy to them?"

"Our current strength is limited. Being able to protect ourselves is already good enough." She continued, "That's why I must do everything possible to grow stronger and pursue ultimate power, so those abominable beasts can taste the pain of having their kin slaughtered and their homes invaded."

Though spoken coldly, her words made the blood of the listeners boil. Indeed, who wouldn't want those who bullied them to pay a tragic price?

Wang Zhong said firmly, "That's right. One day, I'll become a peerless powerhouse and use my fists to smash the Yao Beasts' territory to pieces and plant humanity's flag there."

Lin Ning also spoke seriously. "Even though my talent isn't strong, I'll definitely cultivate hard and contribute my part in the future."

At this moment, the two of them were filled with unprecedented fighting spirit. Su Ke, however, fell silent—not out of confusion, but contemplation.

'Can Alien X wipe out the entire Yao Realm with a flick of his finger?' He thought it over carefully and felt it was unlikely.

Putting aside the strength of the Vicious Beasts, the strongest one that had come to Blue Star back then was only a Beast King. No one had ever seen a Beast God, and humanity had no idea how powerful such an existence truly was.

'So… it would probably take at least 2 flicks.' Su Ke continued thinking. 'I don't know when I'll unlock Alien X.'

'And that alien has to debate every time he acts. If the debate fails, he can only stand there and take a beating—a literal penalty-stand Alien X.' He sighed inwardly. 'Looks like I'll need to learn some negotiation skills. I don't expect them to be useful; I just want talking to him to be easier.'

After silently adding this to his plans, Su Ke snapped out of his thoughts just as Lin Ning asked a question.

"By the way, according to what I've learned, isn't the concentration of Spiritual Qi here about the same as in the Yao Realm after the recovery? Why does that differ from what you said?"

Zhang Xin replied solemnly, "That information was released to appease the public. If people knew how great the gap truly is, it would cause panic and severely impact social stability."

"So we had no choice but to tell a white lie," she continued, her tone filled with helpless responsibility.

Lin Ning sighed softly. "The truth really is too cruel."

Not long after, the 4 of them went their separate ways. Zhang Xin patted Su Ke on the shoulder.

"What were you thinking about just now? You've barely spoken. I thought you felt sorry for those beasts."

Su Ke slapped her hand away. "How could that be? I was just thinking about other things." He paused, then asked, "By the way, can Elemental Spirits only be nurtured in the Yao Realm?"

"Not necessarily," Zhang Xin replied. "The Spiritual Qi concentration there is higher, so Elemental Spirits are easier to form, but Blue Star can nurture them too."

"They only appear in places with very dense Spiritual Qi or extremely unique environments," she added. "The probability is just much lower."

"I see." Su Ke nodded.

"For treasures as precious as Elemental Spirits," Zhang Xin continued, "once they appear, whoever discovers them will capture them immediately. Ordinary people won't even get a chance to see one."

Su Ke asked, "Then do you think it's possible for me to obtain one?"

"As long as you cultivate hard and have a tiny bit of luck to encounter one, earning its recognition won't be difficult."

"Then it looks like I need to work even harder."

"There's no need to rush," Zhang Xin said with a smile. "You'll need to get into university first before you even have a chance to come into contact with such things."

"You still have over 1 year. For now, set your goal on Dijin University. I'll be waiting for you there."

Su Ke said confidently, "Don't worry. I won't let you down. A mere university will be easy to get into."

"It's good to be confident," Zhang Xin reminded him, "but don't let it turn into arrogance."

"Alright," Su Ke said energetically. "Then it's decided. Next goal: Dijin University!"

He shouted passionately, as if announcing a grand adventure, his voice echoing through the street.

Unfortunately, his overly dramatic declaration drew strange looks from passersby. Zhang Xin felt utterly embarrassed and quickly covered her face.

She hurried away, screaming inwardly, 'I don't know him, I don't know him, I don't know him!'

Su Ke also felt awkward and quickly left the area. By the time they returned home, it was already 5 in the afternoon.

Su Ke locked himself in his room and began cultivating, striving to reach the Ninth Stage as soon as possible.

At present, aside from 2 crystal cores, he had no other resources. His remaining money could buy 3 bottles of Advanced Spiritual Energy Potion, but with his aunt around, he didn't dare act rashly.

After all, the source of that money couldn't be explained. He sighed and temporarily abandoned the idea.

He knew that if things continued like this, his improvement would slow significantly. He needed more resources to support his cultivation, but he didn't want to worry his family.

Sitting on his bed, Su Ke closed his eyes and entered meditation, using cultivation to steady his mind. Time passed minute by minute as the sun sank westward and night gradually fell.
