Chapter 7 - 7

Goku stood there for a moment, making sure the others were finished talking before finally speaking up.

"So… can we fight now?" he asked, clearly eager to test Axiom's strength.

"Yeah," Axiom replied, "but don't be disappointed. I don't think I could win against a Super Saiyan."

King Kai's eyes narrowed. No one had mentioned Super Saiyan.

"Oh—yeah, haha," Goku chuckled, scratching the back of his head. "I'll hold back, though, so you should give it your all, even if you're not confident."

Axiom nodded before speaking again. "Transform first. I can tell you're no match for me as you are now."

Goku nodded and transformed instantly, golden energy flaring around him. He smiled and held out a hand.

"The match already started, right?"

Axiom smiled and took the offered hand—

"Ye—"

Goku was cut off by a fist flying toward his abdomen. He caught it with his free hand, surprised.

"That was dirty," Goku said.

"You told me to try my best."

Axiom released Goku's hand and pressed his palm against Goku's chest, beginning to charge a ki blast.

Goku glanced at the slowly forming energy, unimpressed by the lack of refinement. He grabbed Axiom's arm and flipped him over his shoulder, slamming him into King Kai's planet.

Axiom struck the ground and immediately burst back upward, throwing a punch toward Goku's face. Goku dodged and countered with a strike to Axiom's abdomen.

"You really rely on your power, huh?" Goku commented. The attacks were unrefined—slowly gathered ki, punches that committed his entire body. It was obvious. Axiom had never needed to learn how to fight or properly control his energy.

Axiom paused at the comment, recognizing an opportunity.

"…Yeah. I never learned how to fight," he admitted. "That's why I said not to be disappointed."

"Hm." Goku smiled. "Want me to teach you? It'd be a shame for all that strength to go to waste—especially with the androids around."

"Yes," Axiom replied immediately. He cleared his throat, looking slightly embarrassed. "I mean… yeah. Sure."

Goku chuckled and stepped closer. "Alright. First thing—"

He paused, deciding where to start, then settled on combat fundamentals.

"The biggest problem is that you put too much power into your punches. If you're sure you'll hit, that's fine—but if your opponent dodges, you leave yourself wide open. So go ahead, punch forward."

Axiom complied.

As his fist shot out, Goku stepped aside, caught the arm, and drove a fist toward Axiom's abdomen—stopping just short.

"See? You're wide open," Goku explained. "You either need to use less force or pull back with ki—kind of like how you fly."

Axiom nodded.

"So… like this?"

He punched again, pulling back with his ki—overcorrecting and spinning. Instead of stopping, he used the momentum, snapping his fist back toward Goku and stopping just short of impact.

Goku blinked, surprised.

"Wow. You're good at this," he said, grinning. "I thought I'd have to teach you how to use your momentum too."

And so, on King Kai's planet, Goku began teaching Axiom the fundamentals of combat.
