The village chief still held a great deal of authority in Russet Village, and he shooed the entire crowd away.
The crowd, seeing there was no more commotion to watch, reluctantly left, glancing back every few steps.
After all, the riverside was considered a rather unlucky place. No one wanted to be here so late at night.
If they hadn't heard there was some excitement by the river, they never would have come at this hour.
