Just as Jane was about to push through the fog to find Drew Thorne, the surrounding mist began to thin, only to coalesce hazily over one particular spot.
The area around her grew clear and bright, but Jane couldn't care less about some spirit procession. She scanned her surroundings, but there was still no sign of Drew Thorne.
'What happened? Is Drew Thorne really gone?'
Faint, festive music drifted from the distance, carried on the wind to Jane's ears and raising goosebumps all over her skin.
"The sedan arrives on time, the wedding maid assists the bride. The bride steps through the gate, bringing the family wealth untold. Generations of children will fill this happy home!!"
An ethereal, eerie female voice drifted to Jane's ears, mingling with the music.
Jane felt waves of cold air pierce her from all sides, seeping into her very marrow and making her shiver uncontrollably.
The fog now receded, revealing the small path they had been on.
