Mrs. Wyatt's worries eased when she heard this.
She picked up the bag beside her and quietly started packing the food from the kitchen.
She turned to look at Jane, a puzzled expression on her face.
"By the way, Jane, what's going on with your family? I've worked for you all for so many years, and your parents always loved my cooking. Why was I suddenly told I wasn't needed anymore?"
Jane's eyes dimmed at her words.
But she couldn't very well tell the woman before her the truth about her family's affairs, so she could only tell a little lie.
She rubbed her eyes until the rims were red and said pitifully,
"Mrs. Wyatt, my parents had an accident a few days ago. They're both in the hospital. The doctors said the treatment wasn't going well, so they were just transferred to a hospital abroad. They probably won't be back for a year or so."
As she spoke, Jane wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.
Mrs. Wyatt had always been very good to her and wasn't an outsider.
