Not long after dinner, Li Zhaojiang and Li Zhaohe returned with the horse-drawn cart. They didn't go home, instead driving it directly to their grandaunt's house.
"Don't unload so much," the old madam said, stopping the two young men. "I'm only back one day a week. How many meals can I possibly make? I don't need much firewood. Just leave a little for me and take the rest home." Their family was much larger, so they naturally used more firewood than she did. A small pile would be enough for her.
"This is too little. Let's unload more," Li Zhaohe said, moving around the old madam to unload firewood from the other side. "Grandaunt, don't worry. We don't have much to do at home. If we run out, it's easy for us to go get another cartload. You, on the other hand, are almost never home and have no time to gather firewood. We have to leave more for you."
