Evening Maple didn't speak, but Sunny barked excitedly, "WOOF! It's Chansford! That bad guy Chansford!"
Hearing Sunny's barks, Lana's voice grew anxious. "Mom, just tell me, please?"
Evening Maple wrung her hands, her expression troubled.
She really didn't want this incident to affect the relationship between her children.
"Mom!" Lana knelt directly in front of her, pleading, "I'm your daughter. I'm begging you, don't hide this from me! Please!"
"Lana, don't be like this." Evening Maple's expression changed, and she quickly reached out to help her up. "Get up first."
"No." Lana shook her head, her tone stubborn. "Mom, I'm not getting up until you tell me."
Evening Maple sighed. "Alright. Lana, get up. Mom will tell you."
Only then did Lana rise from the floor and sit beside Renee Jennings, staring intently at her mother. "Mom, tell me. What's wrong with the medicine?"
