Mrs. Sinclair's mouth twitched violently. She raised her hand and smacked Ian Sinclair on the back a few times. "You little brat! What kind of nonsense is that!"
Ian Sinclair winced, twisting away from the blows. "But isn't that what you meant?"
"Get lost, get lost!" Mrs. Sinclair was exasperated.
But Ian Sinclair didn't leave. He still hadn't figured out what was going on, so how could he possibly go?
His mind raced for a moment, and his tightly furrowed brow relaxed slightly. "What exactly did you mean by 'in name only'? A fake engagement?"
Mrs. Sinclair shot him a disdainful look and fell silent. She lifted her teacup for a sip, trying to douse her anger.
Seeing his chance, Ian Sinclair hurried over and began massaging his mother's shoulders with a fawning expression. "Mom~ I was wrong. I was really, really wrong!"
