"Are you always this gentle with women, Lawyer Hawthorne?"
Faye Vaughn tilted her head, her curiosity piqued as she looked at Vincent Hawthorne.
Vincent Hawthorne countered, "Am I gentle?"
He was simply accustomed to facing the world with this gentle facade.
The darkness and sharp edges of his heart remained hidden from the world.
Faye Vaughn nodded. "Even though this is our first time meeting, I think you're a very well-mannered and gentle man."
A slight smile touched Vincent Hawthorne's lips. "Thank you for the compliment. I'll shamelessly accept it."
'It's just a facade.'
'It's for the best that she can't see through it.'
Faye Vaughn lowered her head to order, making no secret of her personal preferences.
'After all, Vincent Hawthorne doesn't know what "Faye Vaughn" likes to eat, so my cover won't be blown.'
"Lawyer Hawthorne, I'm done ordering. Take a look and see if there's anything else you'd like."
Faye Vaughn handed the menu to Vincent Hawthorne.
