The old village chief's eyes widened in disbelief.
He had decided to marry her off to Sam for his daughter's happiness and for the good of all of Sealed Soul Village.
He never imagined it would instead nearly push her into a bottomless abyss.
All the villagers panicked, too.
"Don't do anything drastic, Xiaoya!"
"Sigh... I told you this marriage wouldn't work. Marrying Xiaoya off to a Westerner was a rotten idea from the start."
"We won't do it! We won't! Just please, don't let anything happen to you. You're the only Crimson-robed Ghost in our village."
"They're all good kids. Chief, please don't make things difficult for them."
Hearing their words, Xiaoya gave a bitter smile and nodded. "I don't know how she knew what was in my heart... but yes, it's true."
"I also know that we, Sealed Soul Village, can't afford to provoke that manor."
