Chapter 5 - chapter 5: When Someone Starts Listening

There was something different in the morning air today. Aarav felt as if the world was the same, but he himself had become a little different.

He stopped at the school gate. As usual, he was about to bow his head and go inside when someone called his name – "Aarav."The voice was familiar. Ananya. He paused, his voice ringing for the first time at school.

It was the first time someone had said his name like... it mattered.Ananya came and stood beside him, holding the same library book.

"You raised your hand in class yesterday," she said directly. Aarav looked down.It was strange for him to even hear someone talking about him.

"Just... like that," he said softly. Ananya tried to look into his eyes, but Aarav lowered his gaze again. "No one raises their hand just like that, Aarav," he said calmly.

"There's something inside you... and it's showing."

These words struck deep into Aarav's heart. Throughout the day, Aarav kept remembering Ananya's words.

Questions were being asked in class, but for the first time, he felt less scared. The teacher asked a question—the same one he'd already solved at home the previous night.

This time, without thinking, his hand tried to rise on its own. Then it stopped. Old habit. But then a soft voice said, "Do it... that's right."Ananya.

Aarav mustered up the courage and raised his hand. The whole class stared at him. He replied.Correct answer. The teacher smiled, "Well done, Aarav.

" Those words felt like a reward. Aarav was sitting alone during lunch break. As usual. But today someone sat in front of him.

Ananya. "Do you like to eat alone?" she asked jokingly.

Aarav shook his head, "It's a habit." Ananya opened the tiffin, "Habits can be changed." Aarav smiled slightly for the first time. Very slightly.

Slowly, the conversation began. About studies, books, and dreams. "What do you want to be?" Ananya asked. Aarav fell silent.

After a long moment, he said, "First... I want to give Mom some rest." Ananya said nothing. She just bowed her head. She understood.

Aarav returned home in the evening. His mother was lying in bed. "How was school today?" she asked. For the first time, Aarav told the whole truth.

To raise her hand, to answer, and… Ananya. Her mother's eyes filled with tears.

"May God never leave you alone," he said. The next few days brought small changes to Aarav's life.

He no longer sat at the back. He no longer ran away from questions. And most importantly—he was no longer running away from himself. Ananya had become his friend.Maybe... even more. But life doesn't change so easily.

One day, a notice appeared in the school: "Inter-School Scholarship Test." Only one student will be selected. The teacher's gaze went straight to Aarav.

"Aarav, you will take this test." Silence fell over the class. Aarav's heart raced. Was this an opportunity... or pressure? That evening he sat on the terrace.

Papers and books were in front of him, but his mind was filled with fear. What if he lost?

That evening he sat on the terrace. Papers and books were in front of him, but his mind was filled with fear. What if he lost? What if everything goes back to normal?

Just then, a message came on her phone: Ananya: "It's okay if you're scared... but backing out isn't an option."Aarav took a deep breath.

He knew this test wasn't just a test. It was his biggest battle against silence.

first conspiracy

The atmosphere at school that morning was strange. Something had changed... something heavy. Aarav felt as if all eyes were on him.

He sat quietly in his seat. But his silence today wasn't a sign of weakness—he was lost in thought. The Scholarship Test form was due today.

The teacher said in the class, "Those who have to take the test should write their names on the board."Aarav got up. His fingers trembled slightly as he took the chalk in his hand.

He wrote on the board-Aarav KumarAs I typed my name, I heard a faint laugh from behind me. It wasn't innocent."Will he take the test too?" someone whispered. "Does he have the guts?" another voice asked.Aarav heard it. Every word. But he didn't look back. He wasn't going to stop today.

Ananya came up to him during the break. "Is everything okay?" she asked.Aarav said with a slight smile, "I am feeling scared... but I will not step back now.

"Ananya placed a small piece of paper in his hand. "I made notes. They will be useful."For the first time, Aarav accepted help without any shame.

But in every story, there are those who don't like others to advance. Three boys stood in the corner of the school. One of them said, "If he wins, we'll lose our scholarship."The other one laughed,

"Then don't let him win."That day, Aarav's notebook disappeared from his bag. The same notebook in which he had spent months of hard work.

When he got home and opened his bag, his hands trembled. The notebook was gone. His vision went dark."Mom..." her voice broke.

Mother looked at his face and understood. "Son, if the path were easy, everyone would win.

"Mother's words touched Aarav's heart. That night, he sat with a blank sheet of paper. No notes. No shortcuts. Just his hard work and his memory. He said to himself, "What has been taken away, hard work cannot take away.

"The next day, Ananya found out. "This is wrong," she said angrily. "I'll file a complaint."Aarav shook his head, "No. I want to win, not by crying... by studying.

"Pride started appearing in Ananya's eyes. The day of the test arrived. The hall was silent. Aarav's heartbeat was pounding in his ears. The paper was placed in front of him.

His breath stopped as he saw the first question. It was difficult. Very difficult. He closed his eyes. He saw his mother's face, Ananya's voice, and

His silence—all at once—remembered him. He picked up his pen and began to write. The exam was over.

Aarav took a deep breath. He didn't know what the outcome would be. But one thing was clear: he hadn't lost today. After the exams were over, the atmosphere at school was strangely quiet.

The quiet wasn't comforting. It was the calm before the storm.Aarav slowly made his way towards the school gate. Each step felt heavy. His mind was filled with questions:How did the exam go? Will I be able to pass? Did I work hard enough? But more than all this, one question was eating him from within – if I lose… then what will I answer to my mother?

When I reached home, my mother was sitting near the door, as if waiting."How did it go?" he asked.

Aarav remained silent for a few seconds and then said, "I have written it completely, mother. The rest... God knows.

"His mother placed a hand on his forehead. "God himself keeps account of what is done from the heart." Aarav's eyes moistened.

The next day a new rumour spread in the school – "Aarav has copied."These words didn't spread slowly. They spread like wildfire. There was no proof, but rumors don't need proof.

People were whispering in the corridors, outside the classroom, and even in the teachers' room. Aarav couldn't understand anything. He was sitting in class, but he felt as if everyone's eyes were looking right through his clothes, deep into his insides.Ananya was the first to hear it. She said angrily, "This is all a lie."

"How do you know?" someone asked.Ananya replied directly – "Because I know Aarav."This news reached Aarav. That day, for the first time, he

He felt that there was someone who stood by him even in his absence.Aarav was called to the office in the afternoon. He stood alone outside the staff room, his heart pounding. The door opened.

"Aarav, come in."Inside sat the principal, two teachers, and a man with a stern face."You are accused," said the principal, "of using unfair means in the examination.

"The ground beneath Aarav's feet slipped. "Sir... no," his voice shook, "I didn't do anything wrong.""So why did your notebook disappear?" the man asked.

Aarav fell silent. If he had told the truth, he would have had to complain. If he had remained silent, he would have been trapped. He took a deep breath.

"Because someone didn't want me to move forward."

There was pin-drop silence in the room."Will you name anyone?" the principal asked.Aarav shook his head.

"No, sir. I want to clear my name, not implicate someone else."This answer surprised everyone.

Ananya was waiting outside. Her eyes filled with tears as she saw Aarav. "What happened?" she asked. "Nothing has been proven," Aarav said, "but the suspicion is still alive.

"Ananya clenched her fist tightly. "Truth takes time, but it never gives up."Aarav was very tired when he returned home. But this fatigue wasn't physical. It was spiritual.

Mother looked at his face and served him the food without asking anything.

"You have grown a lot today," Mother said softly.

Aarav looked at her in shock. "Because today you did not compromise with the truth.

"That night, Aarav couldn't sleep. He went to the terrace. The sky was filled with stars, but his mind was filled with darkness.A message came on the phone - Ananya: "There is a result meeting tomorrow. Whatever happens... I am with you.

"Aarav hung up the phone.

He closed his eyes. And for the first time, he felt fear, but also hope.

🔚(To be continued... in Chapter 6)But Aarav did not know that tomorrow not only the result will come... tomorrow someone's real truth will also be revealed.
