Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

"As you can see, this is the world which the child's mind perceives. It looks like we're in a long hallway filled with giant blocks. I think maybe this is his innocence trying to combat the stress," Percy stated.

Sean looked over, and he saw the letters A&B on the blocks. Sean looked up and saw letters on top of them. It doesn't seem too bad. He ran forward as he felt his body slam into the adjacent wall. Sean turned around and was shocked to see a crimson glove retracting in preparation for a second strike.

"Get down now!" Percy yelled.

"Sean!" Melody started to run toward him.

Faye grabbed her from running forward. "Stay put, okay?"

"But!" Melody stood there clenching her fist, gazing into Faye's eyes.

Sean narrowly ducked as the glove barreled forward toward his forehead.

Percy ran forward, manifesting a bronze sword out in the air and sliced into the hard metal, stopping the fist from striking at Sean again.

"Thank you," Sean said, looking up at him trembling.

"Don't mention it," Percy proclaimed, "but please be warned, even though this is a simple mission, don't go running forward. That was really dumb! I don't want you to die. We don't know what type of magical enchantment that was. Faye, check him out."

As Faye moved closer to Sean, she bowed her head to gaze into his eyes. "I don't see any distortion of magical power or any signs of possession."

"Good," Percy said, "Please let me lead you to the next point." Percy walked forward. He looked carefully at each block, and he quickly observed where the spring came from. "There is powerful spiritual energy here. I can see why this young man is struggling. He has his defenses up. This block has the letter 'K' for knockout. His defenses are a little bit out of control," he said.

How embarrassing to almost get knocked out by the letter K and it was a boxer's glove. Sean nodded his head in agreement, trying not to show his embarrassment. Melody came up to him and wrapped her arms over his shoulders as he was clutching his head. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah yeah, I'm good. I am little shook up." Sean shook his head.

Faye raised him after taking one glimpse at him. "Wow, that was a stupid idea! Please, please, please don't do it again!"

Sean nodded, his gaze lingering on Faye as he tried to keep his grin in check.

"Percy, you said there are times when our personal situations can cause an influx in the spiritual realm," Melody said, walking up behind him, looking into the square hole from which the punch spring came from.

"That is correct," he said, feeling the outside square again and looking inside. "You need to be wary even if it's a weaker demon; you wanna always be on your toes. Many Dreamweaver's die because they can't know for certain what is actually before them." Percy looked back at Sean, casting him a slight stern glance. "Make sure you check every nook and cranny before you walk forward," Percy stated. "Running into a situation, especially where there's a demon who could lead you to your death, and then you get cast into The Void. Remember, none of us are saved by the grace of the goddess yet, so we really have to be careful."

Leaving the square, Percy walked forward as the three Dreamweaver's followed behind him.

"That's why we tread carefully. Apparently, this young man doesn't want to be found," Faye said.

Percy walked forward, pressing his foot gently on the tile in front of him. The letter 'S' slipped open, and it revealed a floor full of spikes of different colors.

"That is unsettling," Sean said as he investigated the hole. "It's so cute and colorful, but it's also full of death. Talk about a kid with a rich imagination. I would hate to be impaled by spikes."

"Demons like to play all sorts of tricks, so make sure you are always on your guard," Faye said, punching him lightly in the shoulder.

Sean nodded, rubbing his shoulder.

"Don't worry, I got you," Melody said, pulling out a small bandage and putting it on Sean's shoulder.

"Thank you," Sean said. It didn't hurt much. It was a kind gesture, though.

"You two watch closely," Percy said, manifesting his sword again. Percy ran forward, jumped over the spike hole, and ran across the wall.

Faye followed up, running on the tiles below them.

In a moment's instance, several red punch gloves with springs were all over the place. Percy weaved in and out, cutting each metal contraption off with a brute elegance.

Oh my goodness, that's amazing. He was following all of Percy's movements. Percy was jumping from wall to wall, slicing each one with the slightest bit of effort. He noticed Faye running across the ground and putting a sort of texture or protective layer over the potholes where the spikes were.

"You two come along," Percy yelled. "Follow behind us quickly."
