Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Sean turned around in time to see the spectacular double-team move. So this is a demon, or at least it looks like it's demon-possessed. He looked in awe at both Faye and Percy. "You guys are amazing, and I mean it. So, can you tell Melody and me how that creature could reform and regrow?"

"We have to keep going," Percy said, "but I'll explain along the way. Also, I'm pretty impressed you could attack a demon with your bare spiritual fists. It says a lot about you, man. I'm pretty impressed."

"I think so too," Faye said. "I don't give compliments often. It did have some tricks up its sleeve. For example, like Percy was saying, the rules of the demon in charge meant the flower could use the demonic energy to grow back indefinitely unless we killed it."

"Though certain demons have different characteristics, they take up their power from what we can understand to do harm. With Faye and me, when I manifest my sword, it takes mana. We have to be particular in how we attack," Percy explained. "Usually, going in pairs is better than going alone. But these days, we are short on Dreamweaver's, and a group like this will be rare to see if it is not in a training scenario."

Sean wiped his forehead. "I am thankful we had a group this large. I have no idea what I would've done. Its teeth almost had me. What would have happened if it clamped on me?"

"Oh, your soul would turn into nothing, and you would eventually go straight to The Void," Faye said, "but we can't let that happen to our precious little trainees, right?" She chuckled slightly, looked at him, and made a snarl sound with her mouth.

She's scary! He was glad she was there. She had tremendous physical fitness, and he noticed her calves were huge, and she was able to slam her leg with no problem in midair and twirl like a gymnast. Even though she was a bit cocky, Sean was impressed with her abilities and how she appeared to care about him despite the insults.

"Thank you for saving me," Melody said as they continued walking, "its tongue was all sticky and slimy. It was gross. I'm gonna have to change my outfit when I get back."

Walking forward through the meadow, they came to an intersection with a large tree, and the tree was also weeping. "Everybody, be on your guard," Percy said, walking forward with his sword in his right hand. "Oh, wise tree, can you point us in the direction of the demon haunting this boy?"

The tree sobbed, and it could do nothing but look at the ground and mumble in an unknown language.

"I guess this is not going to get us anywhere. We have to keep moving," Percy said. "That tree is nothing but a forgotten soul here, and his spiritual energy tells us the boy is lost, even more, we need to save the child and quickly."

"Do we know how long he's been sick?" Sean asked Percy.

"There is really no way to know," Faye said. "The spiritual distortions are worse when the human is having a hard time dealing with their own insecurities."

"This is serious stuff. The trees and the flowers are all part of a more enormous scope of the human subconscious," Sean stated.

"You okay back there, Sean?" Percy looked back and gave him a smile.

Sean nodded slowly, his eyes glaring at the ground. "I am almost used to the demonic pressure. You said this is a lower demonic pressure, right?"

"Yes! This pressure was more of a shock to the system, and it could really overwhelm you. There have been those who could not even move when they were put into a situation like this."

"I can see why," Melody said with a slight smile. "I am getting used to it. It's not too bad, but I don't know if I can take any more pressure."

"Don't worry; you will get used to it over time." Faye walked forward and looked at the large building. The pressure was building there. It appeared to have a purple hue emanating around it.

Sean looked at the two-story gingerbread house with a chimney of candy canes. What is up with that house.

"I will go in first," Percy said. "If they are going to ambush us, it will happen there. Everyone, get behind me." Percy went up to the handle at the door. He put his ear to the door and didn't hear anything. Looking down at his watch, the demonic pressure was already at 5.5.

Percy heard a sound from the house. "Everybody, get back," he yelled.

"How dare you come to this kingdom and try to rid us of what we have come to call home?" a voice hissed.

"What the hell?" Sean said, running back. "Is there someone in the house? What in the world is going on?"

"We need to find a way to get inside because if you're fighting a house on the outside, it will be meaningless. You two, get back. Faye and I will handle this." Percy ran forward, trying to grab the doorknob.

"We can't sit here and do nothing," Melody said, looking at him. "They're fighting a freaking house."
