KAYLA'S POV:
In the morning, as I was leaving for school, I saw Mr. Yuichi, my stepfather standing near the door. We both avoided eye contact. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke up.
"You should think about the deal again… I mean… I know it was your father's, but no one will pay that much for an old hotel. It's a lottery you're rejecting. You could build a new hotel in your father's memory, one that actually looks like a hotel."
I didn't answer and went straight to school.

My red bottom heel flew into the air as I fell and landed straight on Hari's face, causing his nose to bleed.
My eyes widened in shock. I panicked and ran away before anyone could see me.*
*In class, I quickly went to my locker and changed my heels into the sneakers Theo had given me a few days ago during P.T. class, acting like nothing had happened.
During lunch break, I was extremely nervous, wondering how I would get my heel back. Annie noticed my anxiety and asked what was wrong. I told her nothing, but she didn't believe me and asked again.
Then I whispered everything into her ear.
She immediately came up with an idea,she would take the blame so I wouldn't get embarrassed in front of my crush. She's always been like a sister to me, but today… she looked like the hero of my story.
