Chapter 1: The Hulk Identity Was Stolen?(Add to Favorites)
On a country road leading to a small town outside New York, an old Chevrolet drove slowly.Gentle country music floated through the half-open windows, echoing along the rural road.
A middle-aged couple sat in the front seats. The man drove leisurely, tapping his fingers along to the music playing on the car radio. The woman in the passenger seat leaned back, quietly enjoying the passing scenery.
Everything seemed peaceful and harmonious, like a family on a picnic.
As the soft country song ended, a lively rock intro suddenly blared from the speakers.
"Hey… hey, are you crazy?"
Yes.
The upbeat music instantly shattered the calm inside the car. Even the man driving waved his fingers along enthusiastically.
"Ben, turn it down a bit. Don't wake Peter."
Though the song was pleasant, its cheerful energy made the car even more lively. It was especially noticeable because a boy was dozing in the back seat.
"Thanks, Aunt May. But I'm awake now."
Just as Ben Parker began to lower the volume, a slightly lazy voice came from the back, as if the boy hadn't fully woken.
"Good, you're awake. We'll arrive soon."
Ben ignored his wife's irritated glance and slowly spoke without turning around.
"Mmm…"
Peter Parker's mind was forcibly rebooted by the music. He could only respond softly and shake his head, feeling a little dizzy.
Music can help with sleep, depending on the type. For him, though, it triggered a completely different memory—an image of a "fool" with a god-like body, swaying his slightly overweight frame to lively music, standing alongside ordinary people.
Even from his sleep, the memory startled him.And now, he had crossed into the world where this "fool" lived.
…
Trying to distract himself from the strange vision, Peter looked for a topic to focus on.
"Uncle Ben, when can we get a new car? This one might be older than me."
Though the trip should have taken two or three hours, the old car consumed nearly the entire morning.Anyone would consider buying a new car.
"Do you look down on your old friend? I wonder which other guy, missing the bus, would have relied on me and this old friend."
Ben joked lightly.
"Uncle Ben, I've been on time these past few months."
Peter wondered how his past life affected his current self in this world.
"Yes, you've become more punctual recently—but also more troublesome. They even dared to steal from Osborn and got caught red-handed.If it weren't for your age and your parents' protection, you'd probably be in a New York police cell right now!"
Peter clenched his fists, still serious despite the calm surroundings.
"Uncle Ben, I'm sorry to worry you, but I had my reasons."
From the rearview mirror, Parker could see Ben's graying face, and quietly explained. After all, having just traveled to this world and become Peter Parker, he could not resist the temptation of becoming Spider-Man.
Their actions, though reckless, were understandable.
"Reasons? Are you investigating your parents…?"
They clearly had different understandings of Peter's explanation.
"That's enough, Ben. We're not here to argue!"
Just as they were about to continue, Aunt May spoke, interrupting the tense conversation.
"I'm sorry, Peter. I shouldn't have said that."
Ben realized he might have hurt Peter with his words.
"But what happened to your parents cannot be undone. You can't give up your future for them. You still have unlimited possibilities."
"I understand, Uncle Ben, Aunt May. Don't worry about me."
Peter spoke with unusual calm, which made the Parkers exchange a worried glance.
"Come on… get your love…"
Music played again, and the car gradually fell back into a peaceful silence.Peter's thoughts returned to a few days ago, when he had sneaked into Osborn's office alone.
He craved power, unwilling to wait for fate to unfold naturally—the fate that would have bitten him with a genetically modified spider at Osborn's lab, turning him into Spider-Man.
After careful preparation, he snuck into Osborn's lab and, as expected, entered the room with genetically altered spiders.Though the alarm triggered, he managed to get bitten before the security arrived.
Even after being caught and taken to the police station, he had achieved his goal.
However, days passed, and his Spider-Man powers had not awakened.
"Maybe that spider was defective. Next time, every spider will bite me!"
He blamed the spider for his failure. They were preparing to infiltrate Osborn's lab again.
Meanwhile, the cheerful music abruptly stopped.A radio announcer spoke:
"Breaking news! A car accident occurred this morning on a bridge in Queens, New York. A family car was rear-ended by a truck and went over the bridge. Fortunately, as it was about to fall, a masked figure in a tight suit appeared, using special webbing to save the vehicle and pull it back onto the bridge.Only minor injuries were reported, and police found no human error. Stay tuned for updates."
Peter had only one thought:
"My Hulk identity was stolen?"
