Chapter 1 - The seat that wasn't mine

I joined the tution for first time before my 10 finals.

My two cousins were already studying there,so I didn't feel completely nervous. On my first day , I quietly went an sat on a corner seat my cousin sat beside me and I felt completely comfortable .

A few minutes later , a group of three four boys entered the class.

I didn't pay attention to them first, until I noticed one of them staring at me angrily, I had no idea why.

Apparently my luck was bad that day.

I was sitting on his seat.

But I didn't know that.

Before anything could be said, sir entered the class and everyone settled down. The boys sat behind us and started talking loudly among themselves during the lecture. I could still feel same boy staring at me with irritation.

After the first half of the class ended, everyone went outside for a short a break.

My cousins and I stepped out too.

When we returned, our bags were not on our seats.

We looked around, confused.

Our bags had been shifted to another bench.

And those boys were now sitting in our place.

We walked up to them.

This is our seat,I said.

One of them replied rudely,we sit here every day.

I frowned. But we were sitting here today.

Why did you move our bags?

He shrugged carelessly. so what? Sit somewhere else.

Just then, sir entered the class again and we had no option but to sit on other bench.

But my mind stayed stuck on that seat.

Sir started teaching and then gave a question to solve. He came to check everyone's answer. When he saw mine,he smiled.

Very good, aarohi.

I smiled softly .

Sir looked around and said only two students gave the correct answer. Aarohi.. and Akshit.

At that moment,I felt someone staring at me again.

I turned slightly.

It was the same boy. The one whose seat I had taken

.

Sir continued, Aarohi from today you will sit with Akshit. He is the topper of the batch .

He will help with you notes.

My heart skipped.

What?

Sir asked akshit to get up from the seat and told me to sit there with him.

So that was Akshit.

The angry boy.

He picked up his bag and shifted it slightly, making space for me without saying a word.

I walked up and sat beside him with visible irritation.

Sir continue the lecture.

I opened my notebook and began writting notes. After a few minutes, I noticed Akshit wasn't looking at the board.

He was looking at my notebook.

I wishpered, don't copy from my notebook.

He replied calmly your handwriting was better than sir's. That's why I'm looking .

I didn't know wether to feel annoyed or amused.

The class ended, and I quickly shut my notebook and got up to leave.

Then I heard his voice, soft but clear.

Thank you, Aarohi, for the notes.

I glared at him but said nothing.

As I picked up my bag, he added.

See you tomorrow. Keep the notes ready.

I had already decided in my mind that i wouldn't come to tution from the next day.

But after hearing that..

For some strange reason,

I started feeling intrested in coming back.
