Chapter 284 - Chapter 272: The Attack

Alex looked out the window.

A woman in a white trench coat was loudly demanding answers.

Behind her was the young Professor X, Charles. Well, at this point in time, he still had a full head of flowing hair.

Naturally, beside Charles was the young Erik, the future "Magneto."

As for the woman questioning everyone, she was CIA senior agent Moira.

Alex remembered that this young lady was no ordinary person. She had infiltrated the Hellfire Club herself and uncovered Shaw's conspiracy.

She was the one who found Charles. After reading her memories, Charles learned everything and became involved.

The two of them would later become lovers, though not yet.

"Who broke the statue?", Moira cried in exasperation. She had thought she had recruited a group of elites. Instead, she had brought back a bunch of overgrown kids.

This was nothing like what she had imagined.

"Alex(Havok)."

"We call him Havok."

Raven stepped forward innocently and pointed at Charles, "I think you should be called 'Professor X.'"

Then she looked at Erik, "You're Magneto."

Erik said with a helpless expression, "Great."

Then he turned and walked away.

Moira shook her head and left as well.

Charles said with a disappointed look, "I had higher expectations for you."

Then he followed after them without looking back.

Walking beside Erik, Charles whispered, "They're really too immature."

"I agree with that," Erik said, "Did you invite that man and woman?"

Charles looked puzzled, "I thought they were your friends."

The two looked at each other.

Then they both turned toward Moira.

In the blink of an eye, the three of them had all left, leaving only the young people standing there at a loss.

Alex smiled faintly. These mutants were still too young. They were at that age where they loved acting foolish.

They hadn't realized how serious things were. They thought being recruited into the CIA and taking part in saving the world was cool.

Before long, though, they would straighten out their attitude.

After paying for it with lives.

Considering Caitlin was with him, Alex thought that if possible, he would avoid making a move later. Shaw and the others had only come to recruit a few like-minded mutants.

As for those who disagreed, they had no intention of killing them.

He could get through this part of the plot just by lying low.

Once he was through this part and had settled Caitlin down, the world would be his to go anywhere.

It was just that the X-Men multiverse didn't have anything like the "Stones." As for the Phoenix Force or the Apocalypse incident, judging from the current timeline, those were still far away.

After Charles and the other two interrupted them, the young mutants finally calmed down.

They stopped fooling around.

Special staff came to clean up afterward. The floor-to-ceiling glass was replaced, and the statue was taken away.

Raven and the others were in low spirits. The disappointed look Charles had given them had left them with no interest in causing trouble.

Alex poured Caitlin a drink, then heard several CIA personnel outside mocking Raven and the others.

"I didn't know the circus was in town. If I'd known, I'd have come out to watch the show."

"Hey, don't be like that."

"Sweetheart, show us your wings, and those big feet."

Hank walked over and closed the electric curtains, blocking the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Not long afterward.

A faint noise sounded outside.

Bang!

"What's going on?"

The black mutant Darwin noticed it and looked outside.

Alex poured himself a glass of whiskey and sipped it. Hearing the sound, he smiled, "They're here."

That was the sound of the Red Devil teleporting.

Right now he was grabbing all the CIA guards, teleporting them high into the air, then dropping them. Soon this place would be covered with corpses.

The faint sounds outside continued.

"Something's not right."

The young mutants walked to the windows and pulled the curtains aside, only to find no one outside.

The next second, a figure fell from the sky and crashed to its death outside the window.

"Oh my God!"

"What's happening?"

Raven and the others were startled and hurriedly backed away from the windows.

At that moment, the lights throughout the CIA's secret base came on one after another.

The surrounding area was illuminated.

Only then did Raven and the others see clearly. One body after another was falling from the sky, smashing into bloody pulp on the ground.

"Ahhhhh!"

"No! No!"

Raven and the others screamed in terror. Some covered their mouths, while others held their foreheads.

Having never been in any battle, they had no experience dealing with a scene like this.

"Mr. John, what's happening outside?", Caitlin asked worriedly.

Alex gently patted the back of her hand, "Don't worry. It's fine. I'm here."

At this moment, a squad of CIA personnel in suits came running outside, carrying rifles.

Just then, the Red Devil suddenly appeared. The CIA agents immediately opened fire on him.

The sound of rifle fire rang out in a continuous burst, making Raven and the others crouch down with their heads covered.

Alex covered Caitlin with a layer of biological force field, then leisurely drank his whiskey as though watching a play.

Fortunately, Raven and the others were all focused on what was happening outside, and no one noticed anything unusual about Alex.

Outside, the Red Devil kept teleporting, causing every attack from the agents to miss.

He even grabbed one agent's hand and forced the muzzle of his machine gun toward his companions.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A burst of bullets swept across the area. The poor window that had just been replaced not long ago shattered again in an instant.

"Get behind me."

Darwin was quite responsible, standing in front to protect everyone.

Outside, the Red Devil's slaughter continued.

Using teleportation together with two short blades, he easily stabbed one agent after another to death.

Seeing this, Darwin looked toward the door, "Let's get out of here."

Raven nodded and stood up. Only then did she notice that Mr. John was still drinking, looking relaxed, completely unmoved by everything happening before him.

Raven quickly called out, "Mr. John, come with us."

Alex smiled and shook his head.

From the doorway, Hank shouted, "Raven, let's go."

Mystique had no choice but to leave Alex and Caitlin behind and run out with the other mutants.

In the corridor outside, several soldiers shouted, "Get back! Don't come over here! It's dangerous!"

Alex shouted, "We can help."

At that moment, the base suddenly shook violently. Then an explosion and flames surged toward them, frightening Raven and the others into screaming as they ran back.

Alex shook his head, "They're so noisy. Can't they keep quiet? All they do is scream."

At that moment, behind the room, a tornado had already destroyed the spherical Cerebro prototype Hank had built and was moving toward the room.

Meanwhile, the Red Devil was still slaughtering the CIA agents. The screams from the open area never stopped.

Raven and the others had never experienced anything like this before. With the Red Devil killing people in front of them and the tornado wreaking havoc behind them, all of them turned pale, not knowing what to do.

Finally, it was over.

The young mutants watched as the Red Devil strode over. The tornado behind him also disappeared, and then a long-haired man in a suit walked toward the room.

Just when they were trapped between danger on both sides, the voice of a soldier came from the doorway.

"Wait."

"The mutant you're looking for is in the room."

"We're not a threat. Let us go."

"We have families."

But suddenly, every voice fell silent.

Then the door opened, and a man wearing a strange helmet and a black suit walked in.

This man was the villain at this stage, Shaw!
