Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Day She Almost Let Go

Morning came again.

But this time… she didn't wake up with the same feeling.

There was no sudden thought.

No strong pull.

Just… tiredness.

Not of the place.

Not of the people.

But of holding on to something she didn't understand.

She sat quietly, looking at her hands.

"How long…?" she thought.

How long could she keep thinking about a stranger?

A moment that didn't even last.

A person she never spoke to.

It felt strange.

Even to her.

Maybe… she was making it bigger than it was.

Maybe… it was just a moment.

Nothing more.

Her heart didn't agree.

But her mind was trying to be stronger now.

Trying to pull her back.

"Enough," she whispered softly.

She stood up, took a deep breath, and decided something.

Today…

She wouldn't go looking.

She wouldn't go back to that place.

She wouldn't let her thoughts take control again.

Today, she would just live normally.

Like before.

Like nothing happened.

She spent the day moving with others.

Walking.

Talking.

Praying.

But something felt missing.

Even when she smiled, it didn't reach her eyes.

Even when she tried to focus, her mind slipped away.

And slowly…

Without her realizing…

Her steps started changing direction.

Not consciously.

Not intentionally.

But naturally.

Back to the same path.

Back to the same place.

She stopped suddenly.

Her breath caught slightly.

"I said I wouldn't come…" she murmured.

But there she was.

Again.

Her eyes lowered for a second.

A mix of frustration and quiet sadness filled her.

"Why am I like this…?"

There was no answer.

Only silence.

Only that same feeling.

Still there.

Still unchanged.

She looked around one last time.

Not hoping.

Not expecting.

Just… checking.

Nothing.

Only strangers.

Only passing faces.

Only distance.

Her shoulders relaxed slowly.

And this time…

She didn't wait.

She didn't stand there longer.

She turned around.

And walked away.

But even as she walked…

Something inside her whispered softly—

"You didn't really let go."

And she knew…

That voice was right.

To be continued…
