Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: A Moment That Didn’t Leave

The day passed… but not for her.

Time moved like always — people walked, prayed, talked, smiled.

But she felt like she was standing still inside it all.

Even when she returned to her room, even when she tried to distract herself, that one moment refused to leave her.

It stayed.

Quiet.

Constant.

Unavoidable.

She sat near the window, watching the evening slowly fall over Tirumala. The sky turned darker, the lights began to glow, and the air grew calmer.

Everything felt peaceful.

But her heart… wasn't.

She tried to remember clearly.

Not just the feeling — but him.

His face.

His eyes.

That one glance.

But the more she tried, the more it slipped away.

Like a dream you almost remember… but can never fully hold.

And that scared her.

Because what if…

One day…

She forgets him completely?

Her fingers tightened slightly.

"No…" she whispered softly to herself.

She didn't want that.

She didn't want this moment to disappear like it meant nothing.

Because it didn't feel like nothing.

It felt like something important.

Something unfinished.

She stood up slowly and walked outside again.

The night in Tirumala had its own kind of silence — not empty, but filled with soft sounds… footsteps, distant chants, the wind brushing past.

She walked without direction.

Without a plan.

But her heart knew where it wanted to go.

Back.

To that place.

To that moment.

She reached the same spot where everything had happened.

And stopped.

Her eyes searched without meaning to.

Left.

Right.

Through the moving crowd.

But he wasn't there.

Of course, he wasn't.

Still…

She stood there longer than she needed to.

As if leaving would mean accepting something she wasn't ready to accept.

Her eyes slowly softened.

And for the first time, she understood something clearly.

It wasn't him she was holding onto.

It was the feeling he left behind.

A feeling that came suddenly…

And stayed.

Without permission.

Without reason.

She looked up at the sky.

Dark now.

Endless.

And quietly, without speaking…

She made a small promise in her heart.

If destiny brought that moment once…

Maybe…

Just maybe…

It could happen again.

To be continued…
