Chapter 115 - Chapter 114: Infiltration complete

The Konoha platoon silently made its way to the south of the city that was covered with forests up to fifty metres from the city walls.

The trees grww thick and close together in this area and the leaves formed a natural roof that hid their movements from anyone looking down from above. It was the least guarded side of the wall but there were still about ten to fifteen Kumo shinobi both on the walls and below the wall keeping an eye on things.

Shunsui explained the plan to the five jonin and Mukai who was also important to their plan.

Despite the high stakes, Shunsui was quite excited because it would be the first time he would be relying on everyone's abilities and it was the first time he felt like a real shinobi.

He looked at the faces around him. 'Jeez, I am feeling a good rush like I am trying to do something very sneaky. Let's hope everything goes with the plan.' Shunsui thought.

Shunsui had not managed to figure out any new game that he could use to breach the walls undetected so he decided to use the abilities of others in the platoon. He knew his own games were powerful but none of them could open a safe path through stone without drawing attention.

Thankfully he had an Aburame, someone with a byakugan, a genjutsu specialist and a Yamanaka in the group that made his plan possible. Each of these teammates brought a skill that filled a gap in his own power. Together they could create a way inside that no single person could have managed alone.

Shunsui, Shinku, Mukai and Choza were the only ones to move forward with the kikaichu covering their chakra. The tiny insects spread across their clothes and skin and drank the small amounts of chakra that normally leaked from a shinobi's body.

Shinku used a simple genjutsu to cover them, making them invisible while the kikaichu continued to hide their chakra signatures. The four figures walked slowly through the last stretch of trees until they stood within thirty metres of the stone wall. The guards above still looked outward but saw nothing unusual in the forest below.

As soon as they were within thirty metres of the wall, Shunsui activated the Snakes and Ladders game.

Soft energy spread outward from him and settled over the ground and the wall. The kikaichu spread in the area to mask his chakra that expanded through the thirty metre range.

Shunsui glanced at the insects again and thought, 'Despite how ugly these insects are, damn they are quite useful. Would the Aburame people let me breed them?'

He pushed the strange idea aside and focused on calculating where the ladders were. One clear ladder rose from the forest floor and climbed straight to the other side of wall.

Shunsui guided Shinku to a ladder position that led him inside the wall. He pointed with a small movement of his hand and whispered the exact place to step.

As soon as Shinku took three steps along the path, he teleported on the other side of the wall. He remained undetected thanks to the kikaichu that were still on his body as he finished the climb. He already knew the positions of the Kumo shinobi thanks to Mukai and his byakugan.

He immediately hid himself using another simple genjutsu that made his surroundings look normal to anyone seeing it. It was more of an illusion than a standard genjutsu but it worked on the same principle.

It was like the illusion clone technique but instead of creating an illusion of a clone, he was creating an illusion of the entire surroundings so that the surroundings looked empty and unchanged.

Then it was Yamanaka Chizo's turn to go to the other side of the wall along with Mukai and Choza. The three of them stepped onto the same ladder one after another and appeared quietly inside the city.

As soon as they were on the other side, Mukai immediately used his byakugan and quickly detected someone with a strong chakra field. A chakra field of that kind was a clear sign of someone being a sensor.

"There." Mukai pointed at a nearby guard post where the sensor stood. Two Kumo shinobi were outside the small wooden building but Chizo only needed a clear window to get a direct look at the sensor inside.

He made bird seal with his hands and muttered, "Mind Transmission Jutsu."

The technique reached across the

window and locked onto the sensor's mind. The sensor's body stiffened at once while Chizo's body was held steady by Choza before it could fall.

Choza then lit up a small tag in his hand. The paper began to burn.

--

Outside of the wall, Shunsui saw a tag in his own hand burning up at the same moment. It was a tag that was connected with the other tag that was in Choza's hand.

If one burned, the other burned as well. It acted as the signal they had agreed upon. "The coast is clear." Shunsui muttered to the others who waited among the trees. One by one everyone took the ladders inside the wall. They stepped onto the glowing paths and appeared on the walkway without making a sound.

Thankfully none of the guards were within thirty metres of Shunsui or else if they somehow took a step onto a snake or a ladder the whole plan would have been discovered at once.

The reason it was important to take the sensor down was because the Aburame insects could mask the chakra of the team, but at such a close range the sensor might still have managed to figure out that something was wrong.

He was not the only sensor assigned to this city, though. He was only the one assigned to this portion of the wall by Kumo. Other sensors watched different sections, yet this single success gave the platoon a quiet entry point to the city.

Shunsui was the last one to enter the city after guiding everyone onto the ladders. He appeared beside his teammates. They were all hiding behind the wide illusion created by Shinku.

The genjutsu made the area look empty and normal to any Cloud shinobi who might glance in their direction. Shinku smiled at them with sweat running down his face from the effort of holding the large illusion.

'Maintaining a wide illusion that mimicked the natural environment like the wind speed, the correct amount of sunlight, the bushes moving surely takes a large amount of concentration and focus I guess. Probably that is why he is a jonin.' Shunsui thought as he watched the older man keep the technique running without a single break.

Shinku spoke in a low and tired but satisfied voice. "Part one of the plan is successful. We have successfully infiltrated the city."
