Shunsui looked at the remaining bandits and while Kageoni was still active, he activated another of the games called Diabolo aka Chinese Yo-Yo. The game that he had used in the finals of Chunin exams
He loved this game because it did not interfere with most of the other game rules and it allowed him to fight both at close quarters and from range.
It was also the game whose rules were difficult for enemies to find out and use against him. Even if they somehow managed to learn the rules, not many people knew about a yo-yo and not many had practiced with a self made yo-yo like Shunsui for days.
He had spent long hours training with the spinning blades until the movements felt natural in his hands.
Shunsui threw his sword connected to the other with a chakra string. The blade burst into flames and as Shunsui spun it in the air he made it rise high into the sky. The flaming sword spun faster and faster like a real yo-yo.
As the yo-yo spun there it released sharp slashes of flames that fell toward the remaining bandits.
One of the bandits who was wearing a jonin best of Kumo, immediately used a water wall jutsu to protect everyone below from the flames.
The thick wall of water rose high and tried to block the falling fire. And it was successful in it but the Yo-Yo sword released another fire slash. And it kept on doing so.
But the jonin was surprised because as the sword kept spinning the temperature of the flames increased.
The fire slash now cut through the water wall as if the water was nothing more than thin paper. Steam rose in thick clouds and the protection failed.
The jonin jumped forward to dodge the attack only to have his body pierced by a sword that had come out of his own shadow.
The jonin had jumped closer to Shunsui and as soon as the jonin was inside the range of Shunsui's shikai, Shunsui had used his other sword that was acting as the handle for the yo-yo to use Kageoni.
He sent that second sword through the ground and through the shadows. It appeared suddenly from the jonin's shadow. The jonin was too caught off guard by the move and was gutted by the sword before he could raise any defence.
Shunsui withdrew his sword from the shadow. With one smooth swing the blood on the blade was sent flying onto the ground.
Shunsui had not moved from his protected position in the formation and had still ended a strong bandit.
He kept his other sword spinning. He continued throwing fire slashes at the remaining bandits.
Even if the bandits managed to dodge the attacks, they were caught by the waiting Naras who rose from the shadows with kunai and blades ready.
Within a few minutes and without a single injury on their side the bandits had been completely dismantled by only nine shinobi. Eight Naras and one Shunsui had finished the entire fight.
"Good job." Shinku said in a clear and satisfied voice. He looked over the quiet battlefield and nodded at the team. He directed a few members to search the camp for supplies, intel on Kumo and any prisoners the bandits might have kept.
The searchers moved carefully through the tents while the rest of the platoon stayed on guard.
Shinku gathered everyone again and began to explain the next mission. "Our next mission would be at the border of the Land of Fire. Fujimihara, one of the cities on our border with the Land of Hot Water, has been captured by Kumo."
He spoke with a serious face so that every member could understand the importance of the task. "They are now using it as their supply base to supply their front troops against us. The city had become a key point for the Cloud Village forces. Our job would be to move through the country of Hot Water and go to the city from another direction than where the main battlefield between Konoha and Kumo is."
"With such a small number of shinobi, even if Kumo finds out about our movement, they would not think we are trying to reclaim the city with less than forty shinobi." Shinku continued. The small size of the Shadow Platoon would work as a kind of disguise.
"There would not be many Kumo troops since it is mostly where their supply base is and not the frontline, but still a substantial amount since it is their primary supply base as well as where they are keeping their injured."
Shunsui knew that the enemy numbers would still be high enough to make a normal attack impossible.
One of the Nara asked the question that many were thinking worriedly. "And what is it that we have to do to take the city? How are we even going to enter it? There should be at least a couple hundred Kumo shinobi there."
The idea of attacking a well guarded city with only thirty five people sounded almost impossible.
Shinku said, "I don't know." The simple answer created a short silence.
"You don't know?" several people repeated in surprise. Shinku explained further. "The jonin commander only told me our mission. He left the rest of how to accomplish the mission on us and told us to rely on Shunsui's abilities to do so."
Everyone's eyes turned to Shunsui at those words. The young chunin stood hiding his embarassed face by his strawhat.
"I have thought of something after Shinku sam told us about the mission when we left Konoha. Well, I have at least planned how to enter the city. But reclaiming the city, I don't think I have any trick in my bag that can help us with that." Shunsui spoke honestly.
There was a silence after that as the team considered his words.
"You can make us enter the city?" Shinku asked with clear interest.
Shunsui nodded. "Yes but I don't know if I would be able to do it undetected."
Shinku looked at the Nara Jonin who nodded in return. "Then I think we can make up a plan that would not only help us enter the city undetected but also a way to reclaim the city without many casualities."
Shunsui grimaced when he heard "without many casualities", it meant that Shinku was sure that there would be some casualities.
Shunsui only hoped selfishly that these casualities did not include him, his genin team, his sensei and his new drinking buddy, Mukai.
