"You, Shunsui, would be the key to the group." Shikaku said pointing at Shunsui. Shunsui could not help but sigh.
"The squad is designed to maximise on two of your Shikai games, Shunsui. The fifteen Naras would be there to capitalise on your Shadow Demon game when you activate it. They would move into position the moment the shadows spread across the field." Shikaku spoke while everyone in the Hokage office listened carefully.
The plan was made to turn Shunsui's special ability into a strong weapon for the whole group.
"From what you have told me, your game range is about thirty metres on all sides and all of them turn into participants. So even if the enemies are a little further away, with your game activated, they could extend their shadows and use shadow jutsus hundreds of metres away with minimal chakra." Shikaku said.
He explained the idea in simple words so that everyone could understand. When Shunsui started the Shadow Demon game, every person inside the thirty metre circle became part of the game.
The Nara shinobi could then stretch their shadows far beyond the normal limit. They would use almost no extra chakra because the game itself gave them the power. This meant they could stop enemies from a great distance and keep the whole team safe.
Shunsui thought 'Damn, this would turn chunins and jonins of Nara clan really strong, they could just immobilise people from hundreds of metres away with little chakra and with jutsus like shadow stitching or shadow strangling they could even kill them.' He understood how powerful the combination would become.
The Nara clan already knew how to control shadows, but his game would make their techniques reach much farther and cost almost nothing. In a real war this could change the result of many fights.
Shikaku added,"Fifteen Naras should be an acceptable amount of participants for your Shikai to allow right?"
Shunsui nodded,"I have never tested it. But I think it work on at ten people at most."
Shikaku had a thoughtful look at that,"Well even ten Nara participants would be enough to turn the tables."
Shikaku continued speaking without pause. "But it would not be the only game we would be prepared for. I have already decided a specific outfit for this platoon to help with the colour demon game or as you call it traditionally Irooni."
"Everyone would be given a couple outfits depending on which village you are going to go face. You would use this game if the Naras are exhausted or somehow eliminated from the battle." He described the second plan carefully.
The team would carry special clothes in the colours of different villages. When the time came, they could change into those clothes and use the colour rules of Irooni to gain an advantage. This way the group still had a strong option even if the first plan failed.
Shunsui thought 'A backup plan.' He felt glad that Shikaku had thought of more than one way to use his games.
"Shinku and everyone in the squad are already briefed about your abilities to work with it. Though they are only being told about these two games to prevent the knowledge of more of your games from spreading. Some of your abilities would probably be known to other villages after the Chunin Exams anyways." Shikaku said.
Shunsui did not care much about that. The other villages might have heard about the musical chairs and the shadow games, but they still did not know the full list of possible games. He had hundreds of games that he had yet to play with his enemies.
"Your squad would also have Yamanakas in the squad for you to change the games and for them to relay the rules or help you give others instructions." Shikaku said.
The Yamanaka clan members could speak directly into the minds of their teammates. If Shunsui decided to switch from one game to another, the Yamanakas would tell everyone the new rules at once. This kept the whole group working together without confusion.
Shunsui thought 'Ah, he is letting me change the games if the situation calls for it. That sounds good and he sure trusts my judgement and lives of Konoha shinobi... I guess that's probably why they made me chunin apart from winning the exams.'
He felt a quiet sense of responsibility. The village leaders trusted him enough to let him to make big decisions on his own that might lead to the deaths of everyone in the platoon.
"Your squad would have six genjutsu specialists apart from Shinku. They would try to make it seem like some of the games are a genjutsu and try to trick the enemy shinobi. Whether they are in a game or a genjutsu." Shikaku said.
The plan was clever. Enemy shinobi might think the strange rules were only illusions. Or they might think that they are playing some another game. While they tried to break out of what they believed was a genjutsu, the real game would still control them. This confusion could give the Konoha team many openings to attack.
Shunsui thought that was a brilliant idea. He could already imagine enemies wasting time and chakra trying to dispel something that was not an illusion at all.
Shikaku then said, "Finally the remaining members of the team would be a couple iryo-nin, sensors and a Fuinjutsu expert."
The medical ninja would keep the injured alive. The sensors would watch for surprise attacks. The sealing expert would handle any dangerous seals or traps the enemy might use. Together these support members would keep the main fighters able to do their jobs.
Choza was about to say something but Shikaku looked at him. The large man closed his mouth and waited. "Yes I know bud. You and your other two genin role would be to protect Shunsui. Whatever happens, even if everyone else dies, Shunsui is to be brought back to the village alive." Shikaku said.
He made the order clear and firm. Choza and the rest of Team Choza had one main duty. They must keep Shunsui safe no matter the cost.
Hiruzen chose to speak then. "Yes, Choza I am giving you the discretion to abandon the platoon if you believe Shunsui's life is in danger. As of this moment, he is considered one of Konoha's War Powers."
Shinku's eyes widened at that. While he knew the boy's ability was remarkable, for someone to be classified a War Power meant the ability was more than what he thought it to be.
War Powers were considered individuals that could turn the situation of war in a village's favour. The current War Powers of the village were the three Sannin, the Hokage himself, the nine tailed jinchuriki, the Uchiha clan head Fugaku Uchiha, Minato Namikaze and the Ino-Shika-Cho trio combined.
It was unusual for a child to be a War Power but he could see how his ability could change the battlefield. Shinku looked at Shunsui with new respect and a little worry. A young boy carrying such a heavy title would face many dangers.
"Understood Hokage sama." Choza said. He accepted the order without question.
Hiruzen then turned to Shunsui. "Are you ready with this burden Shunsui?"
The old Hokage looked at the young chunin with kind but serious eyes. He knew the weight he was placing on those young shoulders.
Shunsui smiled. The smile was soft and a little sad. "I wish this day would not have to come Hokage sama but I guess I would have to give everything I have."
He thought about the children laughing in the orphanage. Those peaceful moments were the reason he would fight.
The Adults in the room could not help but wish for peace as they send another young talented shinobi to the cruel battlefield of a war.
