After Harris left, Elara pursed her lips and turned to Adrian who was already slipping the photo back into his pocket. "Give it back," she demanded, her gaze hardening.
"No." Adrian replied calmly without the slightest hint hesitation.
Elara's eyes widened at his directness. "It isn't yours," she forced out through gritted teeth.
"And it isn't yours either."
Her eyes narrowed immediately.
Why was he being so unreasonable?Someone had left it in her grandfather's ward. Even if it wasn't hers, it was still related to her.
"Who does things like this?" she scoffed under her breath.
Adrian's eyes narrowed as the sound escaped her lips. Then he also snorted coldly.
Suddenly, remembering the file she had seen on his desk once again, Elara's expression darkened as she came into a vague realization.
Was that why he was doing all this? To investigate her?
The thought sent an uncomfortable chill through her chest. Her mind drifted to the paintings she had seen in the lounge.
