Chapter 41 - Section e

Jay's POV

Sunlight was sneaking through the blinds when the chaos hit. I woke up to muffled voices downstairs. Section E. Of course they'd show up at the worst (best?) possible time.

I groaned, rolling over. Keifer was already half-awake, rubbing his eyes. "They're here," he mumbled, voice still gravelly from sleep.

"Tell them to leave," I whined, but I was already grabbing his black t-shirt from the floor. It smelled like him — laundry detergent and that cologne he pretends not to wear. I yanked it on,wear shorts underneath. It hung to mid-thigh anyway. Close enough.

Downstairs

The entire Section E circus had taken over Keifer's living room. C-in spotted me first from the couch, spitting out his cereal. "JAY. Is that—"

"Keifer's shirt," Felix finished, grinning like the traitor second-bestie he was. "Bold choice."

Mayo and Kit were curled up on the armchair, trying (and failing) to look innocent. "Morning, sunshine," Mayo teased, winking.

Blaster had his headphones half-on, smirking. "Heard you two had a stormy night."

"Shut up," I laughed, grabbing a piece of toast from Eman's plate. He swatted my hand but slid the whole plate over anyway.

David, being the mature one, just raised his eyebrows from his corner chair. "Coffee's fresh. You look like you need it."

Calix and Edrix were huddled over a laptop, probably hacking something stupid. Rory leaned over their shoulder, muttering about firewalls. Josh sat quietly in the corner, sketching in his notebook, but even he cracked a tiny smile.

Erin, predictably, whistled. "Damn, Jay. Serving looks this early?"

Drew held out his empty coffee mug hopefully. "Any chance Keifer's got cash for refills?"

Denzel shook his head at all of us. "Y'all are feral. Sit down before you hurt yourselves."

Keifer finally shuffled in, hair a disaster, wearing sweatpants and zero shame. "What's everyone doing here at..." he checked his phone, "8:47 a.m.?"

C-in grinned, still crunching cereal.

Felix nudged me. "Sooo... storm last night, huh? Thunder sounded intense."

I choked on my toast. Keifer just wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me back against him. "Very intense," he said, deadpan.

The room exploded. Mayo shrieked. Kit buried his face in her shoulder. Blaster finally pulled off his headphones, cackling. Even Josh looked up, shocked.

"GET A ROOM!" C-in yelled, throwing a pillow.

"We did," Keifer shot back, and I died laughing into his chest.

David sighed, pouring me coffee. "Welcome back to the madness, Jay."

And as Section E descended into their usual beautiful chaos — teasing, laughing, stealing each other's food — I realized he was right. Messy, loud, perfect. Home.
