Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 : The Lie of a Suicide

They ran downstairs in panic.

Rohan ran down as well.

Raha, trembling uncontrollably, moved toward the body lying on the ground. Her steps felt heavy, her breath uneven. When she reached it and saw the face—

It was Meena.

Her entire body shook violently.

She dropped to her knees, pulling Meena's lifeless body into her arms, screaming and crying hysterically.

Subin stood frozen for a moment, unable to understand how to react. Then he slowly sat beside the body.

"Meena…!" His voice broke as tears streamed down his face.

Rohan couldn't process what was happening. His eyes slowly lifted toward the rooftop—

Rabina.

Bella.

Grace.

They were standing there, looking down.

Something inside him ignited like fire.

Within minutes, all the teachers rushed outside. Mr. Lee looked like his entire world had collapsed. He ran forward and held Meena's body tightly.

"Meena…! I told you not to come to this school anymore… but you still…" he cried uncontrollably.

Shawn stood there in shock. It was his first day at school.

And this happened.

Strangely, none of the other teachers showed much reaction—except Mr. Lee. That made Shawn even more confused.

He walked toward Rohan.

"Bro… what is happening?" he asked, lips trembling.

Rohan said nothing. He just placed a hand on Shawn's shoulder and walked away.

Shawn remembered Subin's earlier words.

He refused to believe Rohan could be responsible for this.

Wiping his tears with shaking hands, he looked helplessly at Raha.

Raha wouldn't stop crying. Subin tried to calm her, but she couldn't hear anything.

Rabina and the others came downstairs. There was no fear on their faces.

Shawn noticed.

He knew they were involved.

He made a silent decision—

He would reveal the truth.

He would give Meena justice.

Soon, the police arrived.

Everyone was moved away from the body. The investigation began.

It started with the Principal.

"It seems like Meena committed suicide," he stated.

"Suicide usually has a reason," the police officer said calmly. "Family problems? Relationship issues?"

"Yes… it could be something like that," the Principal replied.

Meanwhile, outside the room, Rohan felt like he was losing his mind.

What if the truth came out?

What if his father's name was ruined?

What if the school shut down?

At that moment, Subin's grandfather arrived after hearing the news. He spoke privately with the police, then took Subin aside.

Raha and Shawn stood outside.

Shawn tried comforting her.

Rohan watched Raha silently.

He remembered the day she had come into class crying.

She must have seen Meena with Rabina and the others that day.

A dark thought crossed his mind.

What if she told the police?

Suddenly, Rohan grabbed Raha by the collar.

She gasped in fear.

"Listen," he said in a low voice. "Whatever you saw… it must not reach the police."

Raha froze in terror.

He didn't want to hurt her.

But he felt forced.

His grip tightened, even though it hurt him too.

Shawn rushed forward and pushed Rohan away.

"Have you lost your mind?! What are you doing?!"

"I'm giving a warning," Rohan replied coldly.

"Warning? You know who's behind this and still—"

"Stay out of it," Rohan cut him off.

And he walked away.

Shawn looked at Raha.

"I never thought Rohan could be like this."

Raha stayed silent, her tearful eyes following Rohan as he walked away.

Rohan avoided her gaze.

During her investigation, Raha looked terrified.

The police told her to relax and asked about Meena.

What should she say?

What could she say?

Her hands trembled as she wrote on a piece of paper:

"I don't know anything about this."

Tears dropped onto the page.

The police calmed her and let her go.

She quietly returned to her classroom.

Shawn was called next.

"It's my first day. I don't know much," he said honestly. "But some girls used to torture Meena."

"Who?" the officer asked.

"Rabina. Bella. Grace."

"Are they here?"

"Yes."

"Thank you. This information is helpful."

Rabina, Bella, and Grace were called in.

When asked about Meena—

Bella and Grace remained silent.

Rabina answered confidently, "She was our good friend."

"Friend?" the officer raised an eyebrow. "I heard you bullied her."

"What? Who told you that?" Rabina snapped.

"A student from this school."

Their expressions darkened.

They immediately assumed it was Raha.

Rabina smirked. "Meena committed suicide. And now they're blaming us for bullying her."

"Oh really? Why would they do that?" the officer asked with interest.

Bella began, "Because everyone knows we're rich—"

Grace quickly interrupted.

"I think Mr. Lee is behind this."

Rabina and Bella stared at her in shock.

Grace continued, "Mr. Lee knows we're wealthy. If he files a case against us, our lawyers will try to settle it. He'll demand money. That's his plan."

She paused.

"Even if Meena lived, she could never earn that kind of money in her lifetime. So maybe… he pushed her toward suicide."

The room fell silent.

The police dismissed them.

They walked out, breathing heavily.

Then Rohan entered.

The officer smirked.

"Mr. Rohan Watson. How are you?"

Rohan stayed silent.

"Hmm… another suicide?"

Still silence.

"When will your father's school finally shut down, I wonder?"

Rohan finally spoke, voice steady but cold.

"She committed suicide. No one else is responsible."

"Really? Then why did your friends' names come up?"

"Rabina Manoban. Grace Ray. And your sweet sister, Bella Watson. They allegedly tortured Meena."

Rohan froze.

The officer leaned back.

"No answer?"

Rohan clenched his jaw.

He was sure Raha had told them.

Rage burned inside him, but he said nothing.

"Next is your father's investigation. Let's see what he says."

The officer waved him away.

"Go. Your face already told me enough."

Rohan left the room.

His father entered next.

Rohan, filled with anger, searched the entire school for Raha.

Classroom after classroom—

Until finally, he found her.

She was sitting alone in a corner.

Crying.
