[Start of the chapter]

After the Battle of New York,

Kamar-Taj returned to tranquility.

Everything once again had nothing to do with their detached, otherworldly group of sorcerers.

Even Loki's Scepter, they handed over to the Avengers.

To others,

Loki's Scepter might be a treasure.

But to them, it was basically useless.

So Karl didn't hesitate at all and gave it to the Master Sorcerers.

And then the Master Sorcerers handed that "magical thing" over as well.

Thus,

Kamar-Taj naturally settled back into peace.

Karl also returned to his calm cultivation.

However,

this time his gains were not small—his contributions were huge.

The Master Sorcerers promised that once the Ancient One returned, they could have the Ancient One personally teach Karl magic.

That made Karl extremely excited.

That was the Ancient One.

The number of spells she knew was countless.

Any one of them would be extraordinary in power.

Karl looked forward to it immensely.

That day,

Karl was cultivating in his own room.

With the boost of a god-tier talent,

his strength grew at a terrifying pace.

His current level of power was, at minimum, on the level of a Master Sorcerer.

An ordinary person probably wouldn't reach that level in who knows how many years.

Karl reached it in just a single year.

But,

Karl still felt it wasn't enough.

Whether it was Odin or the Ancient One, Karl felt they could crush him effortlessly.

Even Thanos—

Karl was still not his match.

Leaving aside those figures with fearsome reputations across the cosmos,

even Thor—Karl felt he still fell short.

Thor could tank the energy irradiation of a neutron star, and with sheer physical strength, directly shake planet-level machinery.

Could Karl do that right now?

He couldn't!

Karl knew that, so he didn't think he was strong.

"No… I still have to keep learning magic."

Karl thought to himself.

Karl didn't hesitate at all. He immediately stopped cultivating and walked out of his room.

Very quickly, he arrived at Aldrich's place.

"So it's Shuwen. Why aren't you cultivating in your room? Why come to me instead?"

Aldrich-sensei asked with a smiling squint.

"It's like this,"

"I want to come learn new magic from Sensei."

Karl said respectfully.

The moment Karl said that,

the smile on Aldrich's face froze solid.

What?

Learn new magic?

Kid, do you think you're still not absurd enough? You want to learn new magic?

At this point, even a Master Sorcerer probably isn't this kid's opponent, right?

And you still want to learn new magic?

More importantly—

he had nothing left to teach.

He was just an ordinary sorcerer!

What he knew was limited, and Karl still wanted to learn—what was he supposed to teach?

He wasn't an existence like the Ancient One, whose well of magical power was endless and whose repertoire of spells was beyond counting.

With how freakish this kid was, how was he supposed to teach him?

Besides,

Karl's strength had already been proven earlier.

Even that enormous Chitauri Mothership wasn't his opponent—what could Aldrich do about it?

Still,

Aldrich was someone who cared about face.

"Shuwen, this kind of thing—we should take it step by step."

"How about this: I'll go back and think it over, and see what magic would be good to teach you, alright?"

Aldrich negotiated.

Karl thought for a moment and said,

"Then I'll be troubling Aldrich-sensei."

After giving a respectful salute, Karl turned and left.

Aldrich watched Karl leave with a smiling squint. Once Karl's figure was completely out of sight,

Aldrich's expression immediately collapsed.

Without another word, he turned around and left.

Obviously, he was going to find help.

He couldn't teach this student anymore.

Aldrich now felt there was nothing that disciple couldn't pull off.

Naturally, he had to find someone who could actually teach him.

Clearly,

with the Ancient One absent, only the Master Sorcerers were qualified to instruct a genius like this.

Without another word,

Aldrich went straight to the Master Sorcerers.

But what he didn't expect was—

there were quite a few Master Sorcerers here: Baron Mordo, Kaecilius, Hamir, and Wong were all present.

These were the four strongest Master Sorcerers in Kamar-Taj.

The moment Aldrich entered, the four of them looked toward him.

"So it's Aldrich. What is it?"

Baron Mordo, seated at the head, asked.

"It's like this, Master Sorcerer Mordo."

Aldrich glanced at Wong before speaking slowly.

"I came because of Karl."

"My learning is shallow. I truly can't teach this student anymore."

"I want to ask the Master Sorcerers to help."

Aldrich said.

Hearing that, the Master Sorcerers all showed different expressions.

Even Wong—the stern-faced fellow—spoke up without hesitation.

"Ahem. If that's the case,"

"then I'll reluctantly take Karl in as my disciple."

"Pah! In your dreams!"

"You thick-browed, big-eyed guy—you're thinking pretty nicely for yourself!"

"Hmph. Keep dreaming in broad daylight!"

The other three Master Sorcerers spoke up without hesitation.

Aldrich: ???

Mordo shot Aldrich a sideways glance, coughed once, and said,

"Wong, your teaching standard—you know it."

"Handing Karl to you would be ruining him. I'll reluctantly suffer a bit and take on the burden myself."

Mordo sighed, speaking as if deeply regretful.

The three Master Sorcerers immediately looked at Mordo.

So that's how it is.

No wonder he's the senior disciple.

That level of shamelessness—they just couldn't learn it.

"Mordo, that's not quite right."

"You're so busy—how could we add another burden to you?"

"Let me do it."

Even the famously aloof Kaecilius spoke.

"No, no."

"You're all combat sorcerers, busy with countless matters. I'm relatively free—having me teach the child is more appropriate."

Hamir also spoke with a smiling squint.

"You're dreaming."

"You research-type sorcerers live in hardship. Wouldn't that delay the child? What fighting ability do you even have?"

Wong immediately shot back.

"Exactly. What Wong said is pretty reasonable."

"You're not even combat sorcerers—what use do you have for a genius like that?"

Mordo said.

"Heh. So the three of you are wearing the same pair of pants, huh?"

"If it weren't for me, would your combat power be this strong?"

"The magic I research—tell me which of you hasn't learned it?"

"Now you're saying this?"

"I'm saying it right now: today, Karl as a disciple—I'm taking him!"

Hamir shouted.

"You're dreaming up nonsense."

"Delusional!"

"Keep dreaming in broad daylight!"

The three Master Sorcerers spoke in unison.

Just like that,

right in front of Aldrich,

the four of them actually started arguing.

Aldrich was completely dumbfounded.

Those four Master Sorcerers were the peak of Kamar-Taj's prestige—existences that cared immensely about face.

But now?

For Karl, they were arguing so fiercely their faces were red and their ears were hot.

At this rate, they might even start fighting.

So this is what a genius looks like?

Aldrich remembered that when he first walked in, it wasn't like this at all!

Karl's talent was just too freakish, wasn't it?

Even Master Sorcerers couldn't keep themselves together?
