Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: What Was Seen

Yamato smiled faintly. Her golden gaze carried an incredibly powerful pressure, both sacred and imposing. It felt as if she were a different kind of being entirely, someone whose level of existence transcended that of ordinary humans.

"You managed to survive, so you should cherish your miserable lives. Don't think about things that are fundamentally impossible," Yamato said. She stared at the few prisoners who were getting restless, her voice completely indifferent.

These people actually wanted to ambush her. They truly had no idea what death meant. However, it was also impressive that they had endured so much suffering and torture here without becoming completely numb. When those few prisoners met Yamato's gaze, the hatred and killing intent in their eyes instantly turned to pure terror.

"Why? Why does she know our thoughts?! Can she read minds?" They felt ice-cold all over, as if they had no secrets left. The sensation was terrifying.

Hearing Yamato's words, Haruko realized what was happening. Her eyes turned cold as her own killing intent spread out. "Are you still restless even here? Do you want to die?"

The pressure from Haruko scared the prisoners so much that they collapsed onto the ground.

"Alright, alright, Haruko, don't bother with them. Let's go," Yamato chuckled, pulling Haruko away.

Soon, the shouts of the guards and the sharp sound of whipping came from behind them. After leaving the Mining Camp, Haruko asked curiously, "Young Master, how did you know they were up to no good?"

"I simply saw it. A few of them planned to take advantage of the guards' inattention to charge up and kill me. They wanted to trade their lives for mine because I'm the Young Master of the Beasts Pirates. How absurd," Yamato laughed, her tone laced with sarcasm.

With bodies so weak from hunger that they could barely swing a pickaxe, they still thought they could kill someone? It was utterly ridiculous.

"All those people should be executed," Haruko muttered. She certainly didn't care about the lives of such people.

"Don't get so angry. It's not worth getting worked up over people like that," Yamato waved her hand. How could a dragon care about the ants on the ground?

Haruko nodded and stopped thinking about it. "But, Young Master, you said you 'saw' it. That's something that hasn't happened yet, right? Could it be... Observation Haki?!"

As she spoke, Haruko remembered something, and a look of shock appeared in her eyes. She clearly remembered Yamato telling them that when Observation Haki is cultivated to its extreme, it allows a person to foresee the future. Yamato had mentioned that after her fight with Charlotte Katakuri of the Big Mom Pirates during the second expedition. That meant Yamato's Observation Haki had already reached that legendary realm.

"Exactly, it's Observation Haki. I remember we had a bet with Jack back then, didn't we? If my Observation Haki could foresee the future, Jack would wash his hair while standing on his head?" Yamato laughed, looking a bit mischievous.

Seeing that smile, Haruko immediately knew what her captain was thinking. "Young Master, let's just forget about that. Lord Jack is pitiful enough as it is."

"Haha, since you say so, Haruko, I'll let it go. But I can't guarantee that simpleton won't run into me again next time. If that happens, I won't be so forgiving," Yamato blinked.

Haruko didn't say anything else. She just sighed inwardly for the All-Star. "I hope Lord Jack will be more careful in the future."

A few days later, the latest newspaper reached Yamato's hands.

"Look, look, I told you so! That idiot old man would only exchange a few verbal barbs with Red Hair, throw out a few casual moves, and then leave," Yamato laughed out loud while reading the paper.

Just as she had predicted a few days ago, Kaido's loud talk about settling accounts with Red-Haired Shanks was just drunken rambling. He wasn't serious at all. According to the news, the two Yonko only had a brief encounter and clashed with their Haki. It wasn't even a proper fight.

"Young Master, a saying comes to mind," Haruko said.

"What saying?" Yamato looked at her.

"No one knows a father like his daughter," Haruko said slowly, her tone carrying a hint of teasing.

Yamato's eye twitched. This was a direct implication that she and Kaido were two peas in a pod.

"Maria, look, even Haruko knows how to tease me now," Yamato complained to Maria, who was standing beside her.

Maria smiled. "But it's the truth, isn't it? Even if you don't want to admit it, blood ties are a strange thing."

"Blood ties... Inheriting the bloodline of a reckless brute is really unlucky," Yamato muttered, scratching her head.

She had to admit she was influenced by her bloodline. Her personality bore a resemblance to Kaido's, especially the strong, violent streak within her. If her soul and thoughts weren't those of a modern person, the influence would likely be even deeper.

Maria and Haruko exchanged a glance but said nothing. They knew Yamato was just venting her frustrations.

"By the way, Haruko, when is Jack's next departure?" Yamato asked.

"In two days," Haruko replied.

Yamato nodded, then looked at Maria. "So, how about it? Do you want to come out with us for some fresh air?"

"I'll pass. I'm not really one for staying on ships," Maria waved her hand, refusing the offer. Apart from her first time at sea, which was filled with novelty, she now knew just how tedious sailing could be.

"Is that so? Alright then, I won't force you. I'm going to go see that idiot old man," Yamato stood up and walked toward the door.

"Remember not to start another fight!" Maria and Haruko called out as a reminder.

"Okay, okay," Yamato waved her hand, signaling that she understood.

A short while later, Yamato arrived at Kaido's chambers with practiced ease. Walking in, she saw Kaido gulping down wine. One gourd after another sat beside him, all filled with alcohol.

"Oh my, what kind of drunkard is this? The whole place reeks. Even a toilet wouldn't smell this bad," Yamato swaggered over.

Kaido paused mid-drink upon hearing that infuriating voice. He knew exactly who it was. His sharp gaze swept over to her. Seeing Yamato standing there, smiling at him as if he were a fool, Kaido felt extremely displeased.

"Stinky brat, what are you here for?"

Regarding Yamato, his eldest child, Kaido was satisfied with her formidable strength. He also liked that she didn't form cliques or try to build her own faction within the Beasts Pirates. This put him at ease. However, he was dissatisfied because Yamato seemed to be naturally at odds with him.

Every time she spoke to him, her words were laced with venom. She used to love fighting him, treating her own father as a whetstone to sharpen her skills. Now that her strength had grown, she still loved to provoke him.

Kaido had to admit that Yamato was truly his child. Her temperament was just like his—willful and unrestrained. But it was precisely that similarity that made him deeply uncomfortable.
