While Ren sat at the counter thinking through the structure of the future Pokémon House website, Emma casually fed Lapras an Ice-type energy cube and looked over at Lily with a playful smile.
"Lily~ Want to battle?"
Lily immediately narrowed her eyes.
"Oh? You finally remember I exist after getting Lapras?"
She crossed her arms.
"You think I'm stupid? Charmander is weak to Water. Trapinch is weak to both Water and Ice. And Lapras' base strength is way higher than theirs right now."
She scoffed.
"That's not a battle. That's bullying."
Emma tilted her head innocently.
"Aww~ So you're scared?"
Lily's eye twitched.
"I'm being strategic."
She huffed.
"When my dragon team is complete, I'll crush you."
Emma just laughed and went back to enjoying her juice.
After a moment, she pulled out her phone and typed in the group chat:
Emma: Just pulled an SR at Pokémon House. Looking for a rival. Come challenge me.
Larvitar: I'm at the quarry. Busy.
Lucas: President Chen does not approve of skipping work.
Miya: My Bagon is still too weak…
DragonFuture: My Caterpie got bullied by a Vulpix this afternoon.
PoisonLover: You're all bragging again.
Emma leaned back dramatically.
"Invincibility is lonely."
Lily looked at her in disgust.
"What a show-off."
Meanwhile, Ren had already opened the Rookie Manual document on his computer.
"The Pokédex will definitely be included," he murmured. "But not full details."
Basic Pokémon entries. Type charts. Poké Ball explanations. Energy cube guides. Battle fundamentals.
The official site could refine the Rookie Manual with images and clearer structure.
"I'll also add a forum section," Ren decided.
Future Trainers could exchange battle experiences and strategies there.
As for a Pokémon distribution map?
He shook his head.
"Not yet."
Wild Pokémon hadn't officially appeared. And even he didn't know what species would show up.
At that moment—
Jingle~
The wind chime at the door rang.
"Welcome."
Ren looked up and smiled.
"Oh? Ava and Liam. Escaping family duties today?"
Ava laughed.
"Dad went out for business tonight. So we came to visit."
She waved happily at Manaphy and Diancie.
"Mana~!"
Manaphy waved back cheerfully.
Liam gave Ren a polite nod.
"I'd like to borrow the field for a battle, if possible."
"Of course."
Before Ren could continue, Emma stood up.
"Perfect timing. Battle me."
Ava blinked.
"You just pulled Lapras, right?"
Emma smiled mysteriously.
"Exactly."
Liam nodded calmly.
"Then I'll accept."
Lily instantly perked up.
"Ohhh~ This is good."
Finally, someone else was fighting Emma.

Backyard – Battle Field
Diancie floated nearby, recording as usual.
Ren stepped back.
"Standard 1v1. When one Pokémon loses the ability to battle, the other wins."
"Battle begin."
"Mana Mana~!" Manaphy waved a tiny flag enthusiastically.
Emma threw her Poké Ball smoothly.
"Lapras, let's go!"
White light flashed.
Lapras appeared gracefully, landing with a soft thud.
Liam was unfazed.
"Elekid. Your turn."
His Poké Ball opened, revealing the small yellow Electric-type.
Lily quickly pulled out her Pokédex.
"Electric type… that's strong against Water."
Emma narrowed her eyes slightly, but remained composed.
"Lapras. Use Sing."
Lapras lowered its head.
"Wooo~"
A soft, melodic song filled the air.
Elekid's eyelids drooped slightly.
"Elekid! Quick Attack!" Liam reacted instantly.
Elekid's expression sharpened.
White light burst around it as it lunged forward at incredible speed.
"So fast!" Lily gasped.
Ren explained calmly, "Quick Attack is a priority move. It enhances the user's speed temporarily."
Elekid slammed into Lapras.
Lapras staggered half a step.
"…That's it?" Ava blinked.
When Elekid had used that move against Bulbasaur before, it nearly knocked it down.
But Lapras?
Barely affected.
Liam's mouth twitched slightly.
That felt like scraping armor.
Lily looked smug now.
"See? That's why she's bragging. Lapras' stats right now are basically comparable to fully evolved starters."
Ava covered her mouth.
"That's unfair…"
Ren shook his head.
"It's not that exaggerated."
"Lapras doesn't evolve, but it still has growth stages. This one is still in its juvenile phase."
"Even so," he admitted, "it does have a stat advantage right now."
Especially in HP and Defense.
Emma folded her arms confidently.
"Lapras. Water Gun."
Lapras inhaled.
A concentrated stream of water shot toward Elekid.
"Dodge and use Thunder Shock!"
Elekid barely evaded the water stream, sparks crackling around its body.
Electricity burst forward.
The lightning struck Lapras directly.
This time—
Lapras flinched visibly.
Electricity spread across its body.
Emma's expression stiffened.
Electric-type damage hurt.
Very much.
But Lapras endured it.
When the sparks faded, it was still standing firmly.
"Lapras!" Emma called.
Lapras steadied itself.
Its eyes remained gentle.
But now—
Focused.
The real battle had just begun.
