Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Price of a Quasi-God

"Is this… a little green dinosaur?"

Jason stared curiously at the Pokémon displayed in the Pokédex.

Lucas was equally confused. The creature looked like a small reptile standing on two legs—vaguely reminiscent of the cartoon dinosaurs he'd seen as a kid.

"Boss, can you help my cousin take a look at this?"

Jason called out to Ren, who was busy packing energy cubes.

"Alright, let me see."

Ren walked over and glanced at the screen. His eyebrows jumped slightly.

"Larvitar…"

He licked his lips and looked at the image with a strange expression.

What a coincidence.

This was already the second Larvitar drawn in the past three days—though the previous customer had been scared off immediately by the price.

"Boss, you look surprised," Lucas noticed the subtle change in Ren's expression.

"Ah—Mr. Lucas, you've drawn an incredible little guy."

Ren nodded, then smiled at him.

"Incredible?"

Jason and Lucas were both stunned.

Jason hesitated for a moment before asking cautiously, "Boss… is this little dinosaur very strong?"

What did incredible mean here? Just strong—or something more?

"Don't worry, I'm not exaggerating."

Ren smiled, deliberately emphasizing his words.

"This Pokémon is outstanding in every sense of the word."

Lucas's interest was instantly piqued.

"Could you introduce it properly?"

"Of course."

Ren thought for a moment before speaking.

"Pokémon are extremely special creatures. I think you've both already realized that."

"They possess attributes, unique abilities, special moves, and innate talents—things humans simply don't have. In a sense, Pokémon are natural warriors, born for battle."

"Although there are many different species, they all belong to the same system. And because of that, there will inevitably be certain Pokémon that stand at the very top."

Ren's voice was calm and steady, and both Jason and Lucas listened intently.

"That's like the mythical creatures in our legends—dragons, phoenixes, unicorns—existences revered above all others."

"The Pokémon world has similar beings."

"Some can revive the dead. Some rule the seas. Some dwell in the ozone layer to protect the planet. Others govern time, space, or even antimatter."

"These beings are collectively known as Legendary Pokémon—and are often worshipped as gods."

Lucas's breathing unconsciously quickened.

"So this one is…?"

Jason's eyes burned with anticipation.

"No."

Ren shook his head.

"Larvitar is not a Legendary Pokémon."

The two of them froze.

"Legendary Pokémon possess power beyond imagination, and their traces are almost nonexistent."

"But below them—still standing at the absolute pinnacle—are another group."

"They are so powerful that they're considered only slightly inferior to gods."

"They're known as Quasi-Legendary Pokémon."

Ren paused, then looked at the Pokédex.

"And Larvitar is the larval form of a Quasi-Legendary Pokémon."

Jason stared at the image.

"A… Quasi-Legendary Pokémon?"

His scalp tingled.

Only weaker than gods?

That description alone was insane.

Jason suddenly felt overwhelmingly jealous.

Did my cousin step on divine luck today or what?

Drawing a Larvitar on the first try—this kind of fortune was outrageous.

"Boss."

Lucas took a deep breath and spoke decisively.

"I want this Larvitar. How much?"

It didn't matter who tried to stop him—he was taking it.

Pulling Larvitar on his first draw was clearly fate.

Only a Pokémon like this was worthy of him.

"The price…?"

Ren fell silent for a brief moment.

Then he spoke clearly.

"Sixty million."

"Hiss—!"

Jason sucked in a sharp breath.

"S-six… sixty million?!"

Lucas was stunned.

"Boss, are you sure you didn't say that wrong?" Jason asked in disbelief.

Sixty million was absurd.

Both of his foxes combined didn't even reach four hundred thousand.

This wasn't a Pokémon—this was a money-devouring monster.

"Sixty million is correct."

Ren shook his head calmly.

"And that's already a preferential price."

"Our shop operates with integrity. We don't engage in false pricing."

"Larvitar is absolutely worth this amount. I'm not trying to cheat anyone—I can guarantee that."

He looked directly at Lucas.

"And frankly, if you were to draw Larvitar again in the future…"

"It would only be more expensive."

Ren's tone was firm and sincere.

This was exactly why the previous customer had stormed out, calling him crazy.

But Ren knew better.

Even in the Pokémon world, Larvitar was an exceptionally rare Quasi-Legendary Pokémon, found only in the depths of Mt. Silver.

And the Larvitar provided by the system had guaranteed top-tier potential and talent.

Sixty million was only the current price.

Once Pokémon truly spread across the world?

Ren wouldn't hesitate to name one hundred million.

"Sixty million…"

Lucas frowned, his gaze shifting between Ren and the Pokédex.

It was an enormous sum.

His company's current market value was only around thirty million—selling it wouldn't even be enough.

But his family…

Sixty million wasn't impossible.

If he asked his father, the money would come.

Yet—

Lucas hesitated.

Not slightly.

But deeply.
