Chapter 6 - The Breakup

Amelia couldn't believe her ears, she really couldn't. She thought she was dreaming. She sat across from Jason, who was not looking at her but at the plate of spaghetti, as if he had just discovered something unique inside it.

The canteen was in chaos like it usually was. Students were discussing, chatting, eating with one another, and making the place very rowdy. Yet, it felt like there was silence at the table where Amelia and Jason sat.

"Jason," she said softly, placing her fork on the table, her face now turned to her plate. "What did you say? What the fuck did you say?"

Jason didn't say anything for a moment before he took a deep breath. "I think we should have some space."

The shock registered on Amelia's face. 'No. No. No.' She had already begun to imagine, what to tell Terry. She had failed. She hadn't told Jason. She had failed Terry. He was going to kill her!

"Wait." Amelia blurted out, a nervous chuckle erupting. "You're not serious. You're just joking, right? Right?"

She stretched out her well-manicured hand and grasped his as she whispered. "Come on, babe. You're my everything. I need you. We had a good thing going on. You don't want to ruin it, right?"

Jason narrowed his eyes, his whole soft demeanor changing instantly. "What point of 'I'm done' did you not understand, Amelia? Tell me, that? "

Amelia stared at him, this was not the guy she remembered. 'This bastard didn't have the balls to even say no to me! Why now! Just when Terry told me to execute the plan!"

Amelia glared at Jason in pure anger. "No, you can't just do that. We had a relationship going on! It was perfect! Why do you want to ruin it? Why the fuck do you want to ruin it?"

"You know what your problem is, you skank!" Jason snapped, losing his cool. He had tried to keep control, not lose his edge, but how can you when you stood in front of the person you thought you trusted, but was actually dating someone else and had ruined your life? "Your problem is not that I'm breaking up with you, but that I'm the one who did it. Not you! You didn't expect the loser to dump you first. Well, too bad! You're just a skank on the street!"

Amanda glared at him in anger and shock. "Did you just call me a skank, Jason?"

"You bet I did!" Jason snapped back.

Jason didn't know this, but the cafeteria had gone gravely silent. Everybody was staring at the spectacle, the drama before them. Most of the people in the room could've believed their eyes.

"No way." Cameron chuckled in amusement. "This bastard got balls, I'll give you that. He's insulting Terry's girl."

"Wait," a voice snapped beside him making him jolt. It was Maria. "Did you just say Terry's girlfriend?"

Cameron froze and then cursed under his breath. He had opened his big mouth. He glared at Maria. "Shut your bitch ass up and run back to your rich daddy."

Maria scowled at him, gave him the middle finger, then turned back to the spectacle before her. She had found out the truth. Amelia was actually cheating on Jason and obviously, he must have found out and he was pissed.

'Looks like I underestimated you.' Maria thought, smirking. "You're not the pussy I once thought you were."

Meanwhile, Jason had leaned forward. "Get the fuck out of my life and crawl back to your real boyfriend."

Amelia froze in shock. "You..... knew?"

"You did make it obvious." Jason countered. "I mean, I could tell you didn't even like me. You were using me. And I can't be used."

Jason got up, leaving the unfinished plate of food. He stared at Amelia, his face a mask of contempt and controlled anger. "I suggest you forget we ever had a connection. It was my fault in the first place. You can now finally be with the person you like. Don't fuck with me or I'll hit back so bad I'll make you wish you were not born. Watch me!"

He didn't wait for her to reply; he turned and walked away, leaving her with two plates of untouched food. Amelia watched him leave, her face transformed into anger and a hint of coldness. She brought out her phone and dialled a number, placing it to her ear.

"Terry," she spoke as soon as the call connected. "We may have a problem."

As soon as classes ended for the day, Jason hoisted his bag and made his way out of the school. It was time to act and execute the plan he had formulated during class.

"Jason!"

Jason turned to the voice in the school hallway. It was Marcus and he looked stressed and rough.

"What's up?" Jason asked as soon as he appeared. "Was just about to leave."

"Dude!" Marcus called out, nearly exploding. "You dumped Amelia! What the fuck, man!"

Jason didn't look surprised, he had expected that it would be heard around the school at the end of class. He had noticed a lot of people staring at both of them. They must have put two and two together.

Marcus was still, staring at him, suspiciously. "Jason, did someone threaten you to dump her?"

"What?" Jason asked, shocked.

"Because if someone did " Marcus continued. "Tell me the name, one phone call and the guy has his ass handed to him."

Jason laughed, finding what he said funny. "Relax, dude. I broke up with her of my own accord."

"That's crazy. You were head over heels for her. You literally were salivating yesterday when she called. Why break up with her now? There's something you're not telling me."

Jason was silent.

Marcus narrowed his eyes. "Jason, you're my best friend. You can tell me anything. You know I hate being left out. Don't do this to me, man."

Jason didn't reply, he looked at the time on his watch when he spoke. "I gotta go, man. We'll take it later, alright?"

Marcus glared at him for a moment before he nodded reluctantly and walked away. Jason sighed as he watched him leave. He wished he could tell him, but not now. He didn't want to put him in danger.

He turned and walked out of the front door of the school. It was time to start and do the quest that the system had given. Also, it was the start of his revenge and he went to make sure that everybody who wronged him would pay dearly.

His face had turned cold, it was time to start.
