Roman's POV :
I sat at my desk and stared at the contracts I'd been reading before Alexander showed up.
The words didn't make sense anymore. I read the same sentence three times and still couldn't tell you what it said.
Forty-eight hours.
I leaned back in my chair and looked at the ceiling. The afternoon light coming through the windows made patterns on the white surface above me.
End it or make it official.
If I ended it publicly I'd have no cover to keep investigating. No reason to meet with Amara. No access to the information we'd been finding.
If I did nothing the board would remove me and I'd lose everything. The company. The resources. All of it.
I was trapped.
I stood up and walked to the window. The glass was cool when I pressed my hand against it. The city stretched out below and cars moved slowly through the streets. Horns honked somewhere far away.
My phone buzzed on my desk. I walked back and looked at the screen.
