The news of a member of the Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan seriously injuring the young master of the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan, Niu Batian, and nearly killing him spread throughout the Immortal Tortoise Realm like wildfire.
There were even witnesses who claimed that Niu Kuang, the father of Niu Batian and the current patriarch of the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan, had caused a nearby mountain within their territory to disappear in a fit of rage. Adding to the rumors, it was also said that Niu Kuang had to use his most treasured herb to save his son's life, costing him any chance of breaking through to the Two-Fate Realm for the next two hundred years.
So, it came as a shock to many demon beasts that, despite Niu Kuang's fury, the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan had yet to make any major move against the Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan.
Blue Lush Mountain, Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan Mansion.
The massive door to one of the most secluded locations in Blue Lush Mountain was slammed open, causing the smaller avian beasts nearby to scatter in fear.
Stepping out with a noticeable scowl on his face was the patriarch of the Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan and Chi Mei's grandfather, Chi Zhenxiong. Faint spiritual energy leaked from his body, causing the members of his clan to tremble in fear as they could tell that Chi Zhenxiong was in a foul mood.
Entering the great hall, Chi Zhenxiong was welcomed by the group of elders and grand elders of his clan, who had been waiting for his arrival. They all lowered their heads respectfully as they greeted him.
"We greet.."
"Ahhh, forget that nonsense!" Chi Zhenxiong waved his arm dismissively, cutting off their greetings. "Tell me, where is my granddaughter? Don't tell me you bunch let her get captured by those bastards from the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan. If so, all of you better prepare to die, because we're heading to their territory right now to raise hell!"
Although Chi Zhenxiong kept his tone neutral, everyone could hear the anger simmering beneath every word he spoke. It didn't help that his long beard was shaking like a leaf in a storm, something that only happened whenever he was angry.
Cold sweat trickled down everyone's backs. None of them doubted for even a moment that Chi Zhenxiong would actually do what he said. The thought scared them greatly, as a conflict between their clan and the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan would be catastrophic for both sides.
"Father, Lou Shushan already confirmed that Mei'er hasn't been captured by the members of the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan or any of the other great clans. Furthermore, every member of the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan who was sent to hunt down and capture Mei'er was either found dead or has gone missing, including two of their grand elders, prompting Niu Kuang to stop the search."
Hearing his son's words, a sense of relief washed over Chi Zhenxiong, causing his tense shoulders to finally relax.
Lou Shushan was a very reliable information broker within the Immortal Tortoise Realm. For the right price, she could provide almost any information one could seek. Added to the fact that all of her information was highly accurate, her words carried great weight among the Demon Beast clans.
"That child is safe. Good, that's good to hear," Chi Zhenxiong muttered under his breath.
The suffocating air around him gradually lessened, allowing everyone with him to let out a sigh of relief.
"Now tell me, who is this boy with Mei'er, the one who beat Niu Kuang's useless excuse of a son? Don't tell me that Chi Jian brat has finally grown some horns and found the courage to court my granddaughter. Hmph! Took him long enough!"
At his words, a troubled look appeared on Chi Mei's father's face, and one could even see sweat soaking through his clothes.
"What!? Is it someone else?" Chi Zhenxiong asked skeptically.
Chi Jian was the only boy within the clan whom Chi Mei was willing to talk to, even if only for a short while. Besides him, she practically ignored the existence of every other boy her age.
Chi Mei's father cleared his throat before speaking. "Yes, it appears that Mei'er was with a different kid."
Chi Zhenxiong raised an eyebrow upon hearing his son's words. His mind began racking itself to figure out the identity of the boy his granddaughter had been spending time with.
"So then, who is this kid?"
"We don't know who it is, Father. The witnesses said he was a member of our Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan based on his appearance alone, but the people who knew our clan members said they had never seen or met the boy before."
Hearing his son's words, a thoughtful expression appeared on Chi Zhenxiong's face.
"Whoever this boy accompanying Mei'er is, he's extremely audacious. Not only that, this person also possesses incredible strength. If that boy is behind the deaths of the Grand Elders of the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan, then this person is certainly not simple."
Chi Zhenxiong scoffed, a frustrated look crossing his face.
"Hmph, whoever this boy is, he's already brought so much trouble to my Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan, and you're telling me he's not even a part of my clan? Ridiculous. I need to know who this boy is so I can give him a thorough lecture. Very well, have you inquired about this boy's identity from Lou Shushan? What did she say about him?" Chi Zhenxiong asked, causing Chi Mei's father to gulp nervously.
"W-we were unable to buy his information because it cost way too much."
His words made Chi Zhenxiong knit his brows. A glint of displeasure flashed through his eyes.
"What do you mean, unable to buy it? Are you being stingy with money at the expense of your own daughter's safety? Hu Long! If anything happens to Mei'er, I'm going to beat you black and blue!" Chi Zhenxiong growled, scaring the living shit out of everyone in the room.
"F-Father, calm down! I'm certainly not! It's just that Lou Shushan was asking for far too much in exchange for the boy's information. The amount would easily cost half of the fortune of our Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan. Even the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan didn't dare to spend that much for it," Chi Mei's father explained frantically.
"WHAT!?" Chi Zhenxiong exclaimed.
He had never heard Lou Shushan charging that much just for the identity of some random guy.
"Did Mei'er stumble upon someone from the Draconic Ruins Realm? Who is this boy?" Chi Zhenxiong muttered under his breath.
"Forget it. Send every available man we have to search for them. Form groups to avoid being targeted by the members of the great clans," he ordered, prompting everyone to answer, "Yes, Patriarch!"
But before anyone could move a muscle, the door to the great hall suddenly flew open with a loud thud.
Chi Mei's mother rushed inside, attracting everyone's attention.
"Husband, Father, Mei'er has returned! She's in her room with her man. She said she wanted to talk to Father alone. Like, right now!" Chi Mei's mother exclaimed excitedly, her face flushed red with glee.
"Our daughter has a man!?" Chi Hu Long exclaimed, looking shocked beyond belief at what he had just heard.
"W-What's gotten into you? You just met the guy, and you already let him enter her room? Alone with her? Maya, c'mon, you don't know him. He might take advantage of our daughter!" Chi Mei's father protested.
"Shut it! Hubby, Mei'er is old enough to know about matters between men and women. She can decide for herself. Furthermore, Xue Hui is an extremely handsome and well-mannered boy. Eeei! The two of them look perfect for each other."
Chi Maya's words caused Chi Zhenxiong's eyes to widen as he heard a familiar name.
Within a heartbeat, Chi Zhenxiong left the great hall, disappearing in front of everyone in a flash and causing the wind in the hall to stir.
This made Chi Maya and Chi Hu Long blink in puzzlement before looking at each other in confusion.
Inside Chi Mei's bedroom, Xue Hui had a wide smile plastered on his face as he scanned the room with mild interest. It was filled with cute decorations and other little trinkets, something he hadn't expected from someone with Chi Mei's personality.
"Can you stop looking at my stuff? Don't you have anything better to do? You're in my bed, in my presence, yet you keep poking around in my things," Chi Mei complained.
Her annoyed tone drew a chuckle from Xue Hui.
"You're the one who brought me into your room. Out of all the places in your residence, you chose this one. Are you trying to suggest something?"
Chi Mei's face turned bright red. She stomped her foot in frustration.
"Stop being a rogue, Xue Hui! I brought you here to avoid everyone seeing you. Argh! You're so annoying!"
With those words, Chi Mei hurriedly left her room, unable to stay with the heat rising to her face, leaving Xue Hui all by himself.
With the crisp sound of the door closing, Xue Hui's playful demeanor melted away, replaced by a sharp look.
"Chi Mei is gone. How long are you going to hide yourself, Senior?"
"Boy, you truly are a daring one. First, you killed my student, and now you dare to harm my Red-Scaled Winged Naga Clan by inviting the wrath of the Blizzard Mountain Bull Clan upon us. If you think I'm not going to kill you just because you helped us cure our curse, then you're wrong."
WOOSH!
As soon as Chi Zhenxiong finished speaking, a powerful killing intent erupted from him, as a mountain-like pressure bearing down on Xue Hui.
