Rasa surveyed the desert in front of him, satisfied. The magnetic field seemed to have drawn in a lot of metal, leaving the sand rich in minerals—especially gold. In his five or six years as a miner, he'd never seen a deposit this rich.
This haul alone could equal five or six of my old prospecting runs, he thought, delighted. He channeled his Magnet Release Ninjutsu, pulling the tiny flecks of gold from every grain of sand.
Moments later he frowned; the magnetic field here was chaotic, interfering with his sand–gold techniques.
Looks like I'll have to burn more Chakra… he muttered, then paused, sensing something.
He stood, motioned to his Kage Guard Unit, and all six Ninja snapped into wary readiness.
Elite Ninja have sharp ears and eyes; anyone chosen for the Kazekage's guard was at least Special Jonin. They quickly spotted three figures approaching in the distance.
A proud, veiled beauty and a handsome blond youth drew the eye, yet every gaze slid past them to the striking kunoichi leading the way.
Pakura?! What are you doing here?! Rasa exclaimed.
Pakura's cold mask cracked into hatred. "In the Fourth Kazekage's opinion, where should I be—breeding stock in the Sea Ninja Village?"
Rasa's face darkened; even his guards were giving him sidelong glances.
Pakura was a Sand hero, Bloodline Limit wielder, and beauty—idolized by every young Sand Ninja. News of her "sacrifice" at Sea Ninja hands had nearly reignited the war.
If the truth of the betrayal got out—especially that the Kazekage himself had sold her—every village leader would pay dearly.
Fortunately his guards already suspected her disappearance; outsiders, however, must never see her.
With that decision Rasa thrust out a hand; golden sand erupted beside him. "Pakura, you should have stayed hidden! Appearing before me, you traitor to the Sand, leaves me no choice—I sentence you to death!"
Pakura almost choked at the reversal. "Well spoken, Lord Kazekage! Your talent for twisting truth and plotting in the dark outshines your Ninjutsu!"
But killing me demands more than talk—let's see if your Magnet Release can match your tongue. I intend to kill you too."
Rasa's eyes narrowed. "That Chunin who found this site—he was yours? You lured me here deliberately?"
Pakura only smirked. In truth the informant was a Kirigakure spy now serving the Sea Ninja Village, but her silence confirmed Rasa's suspicion.
He subtly extended his senses: no other Ninja nearby except her two companions.
Only three of you? Arrogant or simply stupid—you think three can beat me and my Kage Guard Unit?"
He didn't dismiss the pair beside her, yet their youth and anonymity told him they couldn't be legendary.
No need for them," Pakura said, forming a fireball that shot like a meteor.
Mouth brash, Rasa acted cautiously, raising a wall of sand-gold to block.
A thunderous blast shattered the wall, melting it into glassy slag.
Behind it, Rasa dissolved into golden grains, re-forming yards away—face blackened, hands scorched.
Of his six guards only four remained; one had been vaporized, another half-cooked and screaming.
You've hidden your true strength all along," Rasa snarled. "You've been aiming for me from the start!"
Her Scorch Release was feared for evaporating moisture, not raw destruction—yet her blast had obliterated Magnet Release defenses.
Only long, secret training could produce such power.
Pakura offered no explanation. The technique was a Bloodline combo she'd learned from Vegapunk, compressed just enough for speed—near-instant like her old Scorch Release, ideal for battle.
