Chapter 6 - I stabbed you!

Jay's POV:

I was sleeping peacefully when my phone suddenly rang. I growled in irritation and turned on the bed. I was too sleepy to even look at the caller ID.

Half-asleep, I picked up the call and said in an annoyed voice.

Jay : Who the hell is calling early in the morning?

A familiar voice came from the other side.

Unknown : Baby, it's afternoon, not early morning. And you're still sleeping.

Keifer. I opened my eyes a little but still felt sleepy. I said in a low voice.

Jay : What do you want...keif?

He spoke softly.

Keifer : Baby, I want to tell you I'm going to London now. I have too much work there, so I may not be able to contact you after I reach. Take care, okay? I'll come back in some days. I'm giving you Honey's number. If anything happens, call her.

He paused for a moment, then said.

Keifer : Take care and remember, jay baby … I love you until scientists find the end of the universe.

My heart felt warm hearing that.

Jay : Take care, Keif… I love you too. See you soon.

Then I cut the call.

My sleep was completely gone now. I just lay there staring at the ceiling, thinking about him. After some time, I got up and went to the bathroom. I washed my face, took a shower, and got ready.

Soon I started feeling hungry, so I went downstairs. The house was strangely quiet. I didn't see anyone around.

I asked one of the maids where everyone was. She told me that everyone had gone out because of some problem in Fer Corp. Only Aries was home and he was resting in his room.

I nodded and went to the kitchen. I took some snacks and started walking back upstairs toward my room.

But when I reached upstairs, I saw Aries walking toward me.

The moment I saw him, everything came rushing back into my mind. The closed room. The man. The blood. Aries. The broken glass.

My breathing became fast without me realizing. My hands started shaking. The plate in my hand trembled slightly. Tears suddenly filled my eyes.

Before I knew it, I was sobbing quietly. Aries noticed me and quickly came closer. He asked with concern.

Aries : Jay, what happened?

But I stepped back. I was scared I might hurt him again.

My clothes were sticking to my body because of sweat. Tears kept falling from my eyes and I couldn't stop shaking.

Aries didn't hesitate. He quickly came forward and pulled me into a protective hug. His arms wrapped around me firmly but gently. He started comforting me, slowly rubbing small circles on my back.

I held his T-shirt tightly, so tightly that my knuckles turned white. My breathing was uneven and broken, but slowly it started calming down.

After some time, Aries carefully took me to my room. He made me sit on the bed and gave me a glass of water.

My hands were still shaking a little as I held the glass. I tried to calm myself while he stayed near me quietly.

Aries's POV:

She was still shaking from whatever happened. Her hands were cold and trembling.

She looked scared, not from me, but for me. She wasn't even looking into my eyes. Her head was down like she didn't want to face me.

For some time, the Jay I knew was not there. The soft-hearted, brave, reckless and stubborn Jay was gone. In her place, I saw someone else, small, fragile, vulnerable and defensive jay. Something was wrong. Too wrong.

I sat beside her quietly. The room felt silent except for her uneven breathing. Slowly, I took her hands in mine and held them gently, trying to calm her down.

I said softly.

Aries : Jay....you can tell me. What's wrong?

She kept looking at the floor. It was like she didn't have the courage to look at me. For a few seconds she didn't say anything. Then finally, she spoke in a very low voice, almost a whisper.

Jay : I'm sorry… Aries… for what I did to you.

I frowned in confusion. I asked gently.

Aries : Why are you apologizing, Jay?

She swallowed slowly and tightened her grip on my hand. Then she spoke again, her voice shaking.

Jay : I remembered… some fragments of my memory.

She paused for a moment like it was hard to say.

Jay : I remembered… that I..I STABBED YOU.
