Keifer's POV:
The clinic was too quiet.
Aries was lying on the bed, his eyes closed. The doctor said he was fine, but my chest was still tight. I shouldn't have hit him that hard. No matter what happened, he didn't deserve this.
Ella was sitting beside him, holding his hand. She looked scared… and tired.
Jay was standing in the corner of the room. She wasn't crying. She wasn't saying anything either. But I could see it on her face, she was worried. Not just about Aries. About everything.
I stood beside her, not knowing what to say.
Keifer : I'm sorry. For hitting aries.
Jay : I know why you did it. Its okay.
Her words should've made me feel better, but they didn't.
Every few minutes, her eyes moved towards the clinic door. Again and again. Like she was waiting for someone.
Yuri.
I felt a small sting of jealousy, but I pushed it away. Yuri was her friend. Of course she would be worried. Anyone would be.
Still, I didn't like the fact that he ran into the forest alone.
I took out my phone quietly and messaged Section E.
I told them everything that happened and asked them to find Yuri.
Jay noticed me typing. She didn't ask anything, but I saw relief in her eyes. That was enough.
After some time, the doctor came again and checked Aries.
Doctor : He is completely fine, just need some rest.
Only then did I breathe properly.
Jay and I stepped outside the clinic. The night air was cold, but calm. She stood beside me, still silent.
Jay's POV:
I stood outside the clinic, but my mind was not there.
Just one punch…
And Aries couldn't breathe.
That thought kept coming back to me.
Keifer didn't hit him that hard. I know that. So why did Aries react like that? My head started hurting as I tried to understand it.
Then another memory came to my mind.
That time when a Ci-N suitcase fell on Aries. He was rushed to the hospital that day too. Everyone said it was just an accident.
But again… the same question.
Why?
I pressed my fingers against my temple, trying to think. Trying to connect things.
Suddenly, my head felt light.
Fragments… broken pieces of memories started coming back.
I saw myself in a dark, closed room. The walls were rough and dirty. No windows. Only a small bulb hanging from the ceiling, flickering again and again. The air felt heavy. Scary. Aries was there with me.
Then another fragment.
A man. His face was angry. He was shouting.
He was hitting Aries. My heart started beating fast.
Another memory flashed.
The same man… too close to me, and then he touched me. I felt frozen. I couldn't move. I didn't understand what was happening.
I swallowed hard.
Then the last fragment hit me.
The man was lying on the floor. Not moving.
There was blood. Everywhere.
My hands were shaking in that memory.
I saw myself holding a sharp piece of glass.
I was crying. Screaming. I was trying to protect myself. And then…I stabbed Aries.
My breath stopped.
I took a sharp breath in real life and leaned against the wall. My hands were cold. My whole body felt numb.
No no, it can't be possible. How could I!
But the truth is these were not dreams.
They were memories.
I looked back at the clinic door where Aries was resting peacefully now.
My chest felt tight. If all this was real…
Then Aries' breathing problem was not because of Keifer's punch.
It was because of something much deeper.
And suddenly, I was scared of what else I might remember.
Keifer's POV:
Jay's body suddenly went stiff.
Her eyes widened, like she saw something terrible. Then tears started falling. No sound. Just tears.
Keifer : Jay?
I asked worried.
She didn't answer. Her lips were trembling. She covered her mouth with her hand, trying to stop herself, but she couldn't. Her shoulders started shaking.
Keifer : Jay, what happened?
I asked again. She didn't said a single word. My heart started beating fast. I didn't presses again. I pulled her into my arms.
Keifer : I'm here. Nothing will happen.
That was it.
She broke down. She cried openly now, her face pressed against my chest. Her hands clutched my shirt like she was drowning. My heart hurt seeing her like this.
I picked her up and carried her to her tent. She didn't speak. She didn't even look at me. She just cried.
Inside the tent, I sat down, pulled her on my lap and wrapped my arms around her not tightly just holding. I gently caressed her hairs, again and again, until her crying slowly became quiet.
When she finally calmed down, I wiped her tears and gave her some water. I looked at her and said softly.
Keifer : Jay....baby, if you want to tell me, I'll listen and if you don't, I won't force you.
She stayed silent for a few seconds.
Then she spoke. Her voice shaking.
Jay : I remembered things in fragments. Me.....Aries in a dark, closed room.
My chest tightened, but I stayed calm.
Then, her voice broke.
Jay : Then...a man hitting aries. And then....same man touched me.
A tear fell from her eyes.
My blood boiled but I stayed calm.
I tightened my arms around her. And said firmly.
Keifer : I'm here. No one can touch you. Nit while I'm breathing.
She cried quietly again, then toom a deep breath and whispered.
Jay : There was more. There was blood. So much blood on the floor. That man lying in that blood pool. And I was....I was also covered in blood.
My eyes widened. My heart dropped.
Jay: I had a piece of glass in my hand. And I...I stabbed ari..aries. I tried to kill him. He could have died bcz of me.
She started crying uncontrollably.
I held her tighter.
Keifer : No, you don't know the whole truth yet. You said that those were only fragments. You can't blame yourself without knowing everything.
Slowly slowly, her breathing became steady.
I rested my forehead against hers.
Keifer : I love you my baby until scientists find the end of the universe.
Her lips curved into a small, broken smile.
Jay : I love you too, keifer.
Then, I pressed a my lips on her forehead, then on her cheeks and corner of her mouth.
Then, slowly giving her the time to pull away, I shifted to kiss her and pressed a soft, gentle kiss on her lips.
It wasn't rushed. It wasn't forceful. It felt like comfort.
She responded, holding my shirt lightly, like she was afraid I would disappear. I pulled her closer, keeping the kiss soft, like a promise.
When we pulled back, her head rested on my chest.
Keifer : JAY, WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND?
I asked softly. She nodded.
Jay : Yes.
Her voice barely above a whisper.
After some time, she fell asleep. Still, on my lap, her head pressed on my chest, my hands around her. She looked small, fragile but peaceful. Slowly I laid her and I also slept beside her, cuddling and our arms wrapped around each other's waist.
