Chapter 22 - The Light Curtain in the Courtyard

Upon hearing this news, Trissy's eyes changed instantly, and she was speechless:

"What did you say ?"

There was a hint of surprise in her tone, as if she hadn't expected to be able to turn back into a man Trissy had even had a small breakdown when she was semi-forced to drink the witch's potion. However, after several days of depression, Trissy ultimately chose to grit her teeth and continue the act.

"Exchange pathways." Wei Gao calmly said to the little witch in front of him, "The Sequence Four of the Red Priest pathway, 'Iron-Blooded Knight,' can be exchanged with a witch. Moreover, unlike 'witch,' after advancement, the masculine power it contains can transform a woman into a man."

Trissy's breathing became heavy. She stared at Wei Gao with a gloomy gaze, seemingly considering how to get the potion of a neighboring demigod from him. After all, she knew that since this person had gone to such lengths to bring her here, he must be using it as leverage to force her to do something.

Wei Gao stood up and said softly to her, "The Ironblood Cross controls the path to the Red Priests. Besides that, you can either go to Einhorn or the Soren family. Heh, but the Ironblood Cross believes in the True Creator, while the other two are family-based successors. Of course, you can also try joining the army; if you're lucky, you might be able to advance to demigod ?"

How could it be that simple… Trissy cursed the man before her inwardly. Was he implying that following him would grant her the formula for a Sequence 4 potion ? Damn it, did he truly possess the formula for a demigod's potion, or was he just bluffing? And what price would I have to pay to obtain this potion… No, I must become a man again! Triss opened her mouth in resentment, looking at Gaowei.

"...I agree to your terms."

"A wise choice. Now go to Tingen and infiltrate the Witch Cult. Every Monday morning, hand over the intelligence you gather to me. In exchange, I will teach you how to play the role of a 'witch' up to Sequence Six and some knowledge you wouldn't normally have access to here, this book, read it before you leave." Seeing Trissy's somewhat uneasy expression, Wei Gao smiled, guessing she was worried about her potion.

"If you want potions, I'll give you a quest that matches a Sequence 4 potion recipe, or you can bring me a Sequence 4 potion recipe from another sequence, and I'll give you the Red Priest's potion recipe. How about that? Heh I can even give you potions right now, as long as you can produce what I need."

"Don't forget, the Ironblood Cross also believes in the true Creator."

Having said that, Wei Gao walked out, seemingly unconcerned that Trissy would secretly take the book containing extraordinary knowledge with her. Watching Wei Gao leave, she stomped her foot angrily and quickly buried herself in the book. Circumstances forced her to act; she needed to leave Tingen, the sooner the better. Trissy wasn't sure if her whereabouts would be discovered by the Night Watchers, but if they were, her life would likely end in prison or a hasty death.

A pair of cold eyes opened, silently watching Trissy standing there. Ha, what book was in her hands ? It was all knowledge that the higher dimensions had instilled into Trissy's mind using the uniqueness of the "Hidden Sage" !

Audrey Hall, brimming with enthusiasm, donned a black robe and secretly slipped out of the house, unbeknownst to her parents, to attend an extraordinary party arranged by Fors. She watched as Fors Wall, now her friend, and Fors' friend Hugh Deercha stood at the door of Viscount Grynt's house. Hugh was engaged in a lively conversation with Grynt, while Fors stood beside him with a pained expression, as if facing some unspeakable difficulty.

"Fors, what's wrong ?" Audrey looked at Fors, observing her while asking with some confusion. Hmm... there was unease and tension about her, but no fear. If she were to describe it in her own words, it was somewhat like her own fear of attending classes she wasn't good at ?

"Professor Wei Gao said he's coming to test my potion digestion..." Fors was utterly despondent.

Since receiving the "Master of Tricks" potion, Fors has not yet digested her own potion until one day, she suddenly realized that there was a letter in her arms and discovered that the Abraham family's teacher and student relationship was indeed "teacher and student," and there were actually exams!

Fors suddenly felt a sense of urgency, realizing that he hadn't prepared at all as the exam approached.

"Uh... good luck, hehe." Audrey smiled somewhat speechlessly and got back into the carriage.

Fors, I understand you. I hope you can survive your "final exam"... Praise Rosell, no, Your Majesty, how could you invent such a brutal word?

After alighting from the carriage, the four walked to the entrance of the secret meeting place. Without saying another word, they took a few steps forward and knocked on the wooden door with three long knocks followed by two short ones. With a creak, the main door slowly opened, and Audrey, now in the audience's mode, saw many people sitting scattered inside. Some of them concealed their faces in various ways, such as with hoods and masks; others, however, were unconcerned and openly exposed their features.

Almost the instant the door opened, Audrey noticed the man in black robes sitting on a single sofa.

There was something familiar about him… Had I seen him somewhere before ? The audience's keen observation revealed the familiarity with the man in black. Audrey looked closely and confirmed that the ornament on the man's hand was exactly the same as the one worn by the singer at the Grynt family's literary salon !

He... he's actually a powerful extraordinary being capable of holding gatherings ?

Audrey tugged at her hood, lowering her head slightly guiltily. "Thank goodness," she thought to herself with relief, "I've worn another soft hood inside my hood; I won't be recognized." Just then, Fors introduced her:

"That's Mr. A, a powerful extraordinary being, and the organizer of this secret gathering."

"It seems Fors didn't see through... didn't see through Mr. A's disguise," Audrey thought subconsciously. Since Grelint had already received a "Potion of the Actor" from Mr. A and currently had no need for it, and although she herself had drunk the potion, the recipe she obtained from Mr. Fool's Tarot meeting couldn't be revealed openly...

After purchasing Russell's diary from another attendee, Mr. A distributed slips of paper to the attendees, instructing them to write down what they needed.

Audrey pondered for a moment, then wrote down her needs on the blank sheet of paper Mr. A had given her. Even though it would cost her money, it was worth it… Audrey quietly praised herself.

Megos gently stroked her belly, listening intently to the beating of her child's heart. She leaned against the railing of the ship, letting the sea breeze ruffle her hair and caress her somewhat thin cheeks. The ship's owner, it seemed, like her, had received help from that great being in a time of crisis. Upon learning that he had been helped by that great ruler, he gladly contacted the ship's captain and offered her a position.

Although the math and business knowledge was somewhat daunting, Megas felt she could learn it for her children's sake. During her time on the ship, aside from necessary rest and socializing, Megas buried herself in books and studied diligently.

She had never lived like this before, but now she felt she was living for herself, not as someone's daughter or someone's fiancée.

Megoss gazed at the coastline gradually emerging in the distance, her furrowed brows relaxing slightly that was East Bayron, the colony of Rune. This would be her refuge, the place where she would live, and the place where her child would be born.

Behind Grelint, Megas, and Trissy, there was a pair of cold eyes, like a loyal camera, broadcasting their current experiences in real time to the source matter of the higher-dimensional observer.

His massive form floated in the center of the courtyard, silently watching the three figures in the scene some dealing with nobles, some feeling anxious about their new lives, and some fleeing for their lives and a satisfied smile appeared on his face. Before him, thousands of scenes flowed, including humans and strangely-looking alien races, all sharing the same thing: they were all vibrantly engaging in a game of survival with others.

He looked down upon these beings who lived for themselves, bestowing upon these free beings the gifts they deserved. Before the higher-dimensional observer, a large screen of light occupied most of the space, and within it stood the figure of Klein.

Adam appeared in Tingen, dressed in priest's robes, standing on the street watching Ince Zangwill hurry by, a hint of puzzlement in his eyes. Adam stared into those transparent eyes, lost in thought for a long time, not understanding why the "Hidden Sage" would be here watching the tool who delivered his pen.

...

"You said you found the Forsaken Land ? Ha, the place the Aurora Society has been searching for all these years, and you've found it ?" Wei Gao sat opposite Klein, sipping his coffee and casually answering Klein's question. Klein sighed, recalling the boy who had pleaded with him, and a sense of unease crept in.

"Why is this happening? Isn't the Forsaken Land the sanctuary of the true Creator?"

"That's why it's so dark there, that's why it's called the land forsaken by the gods…" Wei Gao shook his head slightly and smiled. "It's too early for you to know the secrets behind these things. I can only tell you when you reach Sequence Eight… well, Sequence Seven."

"I understand." Klein immediately understood, sensing the gravity of the matter from Wei Gao's tone, and stopped talking about it. After thinking for a moment, he asked Wei Gao, "You sent me a tarot card before, it was 'The Tower'. Was that the nickname you chose ?"

"Yes, this is the path I chose," Wei Gao said. "The reason I didn't ask you to bring me to the Tarot meeting before was because of our identities. Think about it, what would happen if someone representing another true god and cooperating with the 'Fool' suddenly appeared when there were only two participants?"

"I don't know about Miss Justice, but I bet the Hanged Man is very nervous, after all, he's not a very experienced Extraordinary." Klein chuckled, casually joking with the Hanged Man: "However, if you really use this kind of 'collaborator' identity, I'm afraid the future members of the 'Tarot Club' will be somewhat wary and distrustful of you they will probably also be afraid of the game between the two great beings, and fear becoming the sacrifice."

"I don't really care about them." Wei Gao finished his coffee in one gulp. "After all, I have something similar to your gray fog well, I can tell you, it's roughly the same as the painting I gave you last time. Besides, I shouldn't have too much say in the Tarot meeting, as it might become a trigger for division in the future."

"Thank you, Wei Gao. Benson was overjoyed when you gave me that painting last time." Klein smiled. "Speaking of which, it's getting late, I have to go back now."

"See you later, and do your best at the Tarot meeting. By the way, I've been trying to recreate xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) lately, come over and have some." Wei Gao waved lazily, bidding farewell to Klein. He walked into a nearby food shop and bought three ice creams to take back with him.

"Try this ? This ice cream tastes pretty good."

The higher-dimensional observer reached out and handed the ice cream to the True Creator. The True Creator stared at Him for a moment before taking the ice cream. Under the higher-dimensional alterations of the Aurora Society, while the True Creator hadn't fully regained His sanity, His condition was at least slightly better than during the Fourth Age. His past experience as the ancient sun god allowed Him to seize the opportunity to stabilize His state, transforming from the inverted giant into human form.

"Amanisis didn't come ? Too bad, then she won't get a share," the High Dimensional Overlord asked. The True Creator remained silent, and didn't press the matter. Instead, He adjusted the state of the vessel He had prepared for the True Creator to help Him separate from madness, while turning His gaze back to the starry sky. He emerged from His veil and patted His primordial, hungry maw.

"Try this."

The higher-dimensional observer tossed the ice cream, which it had sacrificed in its avatar, into the mouth of the Primal Hunger, and then swaggered away. The Primal Hunger stared at the tiny ice crystals on its tongue, remained silent for a moment, then retrieved the chilling energy it had swallowed countless years ago from its stomach. It used this energy to chill a planet it was about to devour, and then swallowed it whole, life on it.

"The portion was too small, but the taste was good. Maybe I should go and see Earth."

The original hunger made this assessment
