The Next Day.
The General Office.
Johny Lee, who had spent some extra time researching stocks that morning, left a little late and entered the office just as official working hours began.
Tammy couldn't help but tease. "Johny, you're here so late! Tell us, were you on a hot date with your girlfriend yesterday?"
Johny smiled wryly and placed his bag on the transparent glass top of his desk. "Don't make fun of me. Where would I find a girlfriend?"
In all his years of schooling, he had never been in a relationship. He had an average appearance, came from a poor family, had no car, no house, and no prospects. No one had ever looked twice at him.
"Oh?" Jane joked, applying her lipstick. "Want me to introduce you to someone?"
Johny broke into a sweat. "Thank you, Jane, but I don't need it for now. Being alone is fine."
"If you're interested, just tell me, and I'll find a match for you."
It wasn't that Johny truly thought being alone was great; he envied those who were in relationships. However, his appearance and family background were significant hurdles.
The chances of success in dating were slim, so he figured it was better to focus on getting promoted first. Once he was a leader and had money, finding a partner would naturally be much easier.
Ten minutes later, Director Zane arrived. Being late was a leader's privilege, so no one said a word.
Paul's ears were always perked up. Hearing the familiar uneven footsteps, he knew who had arrived and quickly made a cup of fresh tea for the leader, placing it on his desk with a flourish.
Jack pretended to be busy working under Zane's watchful eye. As soon as the leader entered his small office and closed the door, Jack relaxed again and turned to Johny.
"Johny, I think our office needs cleaning. Don't wait for the Director to say something. If you're free later, mop the floor."
Old Quinn, the cleaner, was usually only responsible for the hallway hygiene and delivering bottled water. The cleaning inside the office was mostly shared among the staff.
Hearing this, Johny felt a surge of anger.
I cleaned last time. I cleaned the time before that. And it's me again this time?
Are you deliberately targeting me?
If Director Zane asked him to sweep the floor and wipe the windows, he wouldn't have any objections. But who did Jack think he was? He ordered Johny around for work matters, and now he was ordering him around for janitorial duties too?
There's a limit to how much you can push someone. You're really going too far, aren't you?
Having endured for too long these past few days, Johny was close to exploding.
Samson (Moose), the gentle giant, sensed the tension immediately. "I'll mop! I'll mop!"
Johny swallowed his anger and didn't say anything. He picked up the second mop and cleaned alongside Samson.
Jack glanced at Johny and snorted contemptuously through his nose.
The morning was busy, and no one in the office was idle.
Director Zane went to the third-floor conference room for a meeting and didn't return until noon.
Around 2:05 PM.
Ring, ring, ring.....
The phone in the General Office rang. Johny was proofreading a document near the copier, closest to the phone, so he reached out to answer.
"Hello, General Office."
He heard Director Zane's voice on the other end. "Johny? Come to my office for a moment."
"Okay, I'll be right there."
Phew! The opportunity is here!
Inside the Private Office.
Director Zane pointed happily at the stock market chart on his computer monitor. "I just liquidated all my positions. I'm planning to choose one or two blue-chip stocks with good performance, but I haven't found any I like yet. Can you help me take a look?"
He didn't mention the plunge of DaQin Railway yesterday and Johny naturally wasn't foolish enough to bring it up.
"Okay, I need to take a look first."
"Come, pull up a chair and sit here."
"No need, no need, I can just stand."
The market today was quite good, with almost sixty to seventy percent of stocks in the green.
Ranked first on the Shanghai and Shenzhen gainers list was a new stock with no limit on the first day's rise, which had surged by an incredible 98.03%. From second to eighth place were limit-up stocks with gains of around 10%, mostly pharmaceutical and technology companies.
"How is it?" Zane asked eagerly. "Which one looks good?"
Johny clicked on the K-line charts of a few random stocks with the mouse. "Please wait a moment, let me analyze a few."
Zane held his teacup and took a sip. "No rush, analyze it slowly. The key is to buy one with good performance, something stable."
Stocks that had already risen too much wouldn't rise much further. Johny looked at the rankings on the Decliners List.
The biggest loser was Hainan Rubber (601118), which had plummeted by 10.03%, hitting the "limit-down" position (meaning trading was halted for further drops).
Johny opened the K-line chart and the detailed F10 information. This stock hadn't been listed for long, belonged to the agriculture and pesticide sector, had average performance, and a slightly high P/E ratio. The fundamentals weren't ideal. Perhaps due to some negative news, it had hit the limit-down as soon as the market opened.
Zane frowned as he looked over Johny's shoulder. He waved his hand dismissively. "Look at another one. Don't touch stocks that are limit-down. Don't you see so many large sell orders pressing down? It's definitely going to fall again tomorrow. No good, look at something else."
"Okay."
Just as Johny was about to exit the chart to look at other stocks, the price of Hainan Rubber changed dramatically!
A massive buy order of 80,000 shares slammed in, directly breaking the limit-down wall!
Another large buy order of 20,000 shares consumed the remaining sell orders, instantly reducing its decline to -7.26%!
-6.17%...
-5.32%...
-3.78%...
-2.02%...
It was skyrocketing back to the breakeven point! The speed was astonishing!
Johny no longer hesitated. He silently screamed in his heart:
"BACK!"
...
Flash!
Time suddenly reversed!
Johny's vision blurred, and the daily chart of Hainan Rubber flickered back into view.
The stock was still stuck at the -10.03% limit-down position, frozen solid with no sign of budging.
Zane was shaking his head vigorously at the screen. "Look at another one. Don't touch stocks that are limit-down. Don't you see so many large sell orders pressing down? It's definitely going to fall again tomorrow. No good, look at something else."
After so many days of getting used to his power, Johny's reaction was lightning fast.
He immediately pointed at the screen in a flustered hurry. "Director Zane! Quick! Buy Hainan Rubber! Looking at the trend, it's about to explode upwards!"
Zane was startled. "Didn't I just say? Don't touch limit-down stocks!"
Johny urged him desperately. "Don't worry, it will definitely rise! I wouldn't dare mislead you! Trust me!"
Zane stared blankly. "...How can you tell?"
"Just trust me this once! Any later and it will be too late!" Johny practically shouted.
Because he hadn't listened to Johny yesterday, Zane had missed out on selling DaQin Railway at the peak. Seeing the rookie so confident now, Zane furrowed his brow.
After a split second of hesitation, he slapped his thigh forcefully.
"Okay! Buy it! If it loses, it loses!"
Director Zane bought it using his online trading software. Since the account was already logged in, the order execution was instant. He bought at the rock-bottom price.
After buying, neither of them spoke. They stared intently at the computer monitor.
Hainan Rubber remained motionless at its original price, covered by a cloud of nearly 100,000 large sell orders.
Zane watched with a deepening frown, his finger tapping the teacup faster and faster.
Rise!
Rise quickly!
Johny anxiously clenched his fists behind his back.
One second...
Two seconds...
Suddenly, a massive purple buy order slammed down fiercely!
Then another one of 20,000 shares!
And another of 7,000 shares!
Under Zane's astonished gaze, the price of Hainan Rubber soared like a rocket!
-7.26%!
Zane excitedly slapped the table. "Good! It's rising! It's really rising!"
Johny was delighted inwardly. "It's not over yet! It can still go higher!"
-6.17%...
-5.32%...
Zane pointed at the screen, ecstatic. "This stock is good! It's good!"
-3.78%...
-2.02%...
The stock price was still climbing!!
Director Zane burst into laughter and suddenly slapped Johny's shoulder hard. "How did you know it would rise!?"
Johny made up an excuse on the spot. "I analyzed it based on the volume accumulation in the daily chart. The accuracy should be quite high."
Zane laughed heartily, looking at Johny with new appreciation. "Alright! You kid are really something!"
