Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Incident at the Amusement Park

Beatrice opened the car door and invited her inside.

"Waaah~~~ Being a Beat Officer is so tiring. I urgently need to recharge my Flandre energy right now~~~" After entering the room, Beatrice immediately hugged Flandre Scarlet and took a deep, long sniff.

"Hehehe, that tickles~~~" Flandre tried to dodge, but how many prey targeted by a tiger can actually escape? So, a few minutes later, it turned into Beatrice holding Flandre as the two of them sat by the TV watching the evening news.

"I've been super busy these past two days and didn't have the strength to come find Little Flandre. You aren't angry, right?" Beatrice rested her head on Flandre's shoulder and let out a yawn.

"Of course not. But is your work really that tiring?" Flandre tilted her head curiously to look at Beatrice, who was right next to her.

"Of course! It's super exhausting, okay! The area I was assigned to is the plaza in the city center. Even though there are police cars, I basically have no time to stay in them. Most of the time, I'm just patrolling back and forth, catching pickpockets, stopping robberies, and mediating between guys who get into arguments. I feel like I've walked more in the past two days than in the entire first half of my life... my legs are about to break, boohoo."

As soon as Flandre spoke, Beatrice immediately began to pour out her grievances, eventually turning into a "whining monster" and claiming she needed to hug Flandre for a while longer to ease her pain. Flandre then recounted what had happened today.

"Oh, that Professor Zhang actually suffered a setback because of you!" Beatrice's eyes lit up upon hearing Flandre's words.

"You know him?" Flandre asked curiously.

"Of course I do. He's a senior who was three years ahead of me. His academic record was decent—he took first place every year—but he basically doesn't socialize with anyone. To outsiders, he's the school's famous 'silent gourd.' In reality, he's extremely arrogant. He thinks all his classmates are idiots and fools, so he's unwilling to deal with them. He doesn't even show much respect to the teachers. Among all the professors teaching at Lungmen United University, his classes are the hardest to pass. Almost two-thirds of the students fail every semester. In the past, he was always the one making others suffer. I didn't expect you'd actually be the one to make him eat humble pie."

Beatrice recounted the man's situation. After listening, Flandre recalled that while in the room, he indeed hadn't shown any respect to the Guard Department Operator who invited him, and he had looked at Ch'en Huijie and Hoshiguma with a face full of disdain. He only seemed to show a bit of interest when he realized she was a Vampire.

Of course, the other party naturally lost this case completely, but that had nothing to do with skill level. After all, Flandre doesn't use science when investigating cases. If she were the protagonist of a detective story, most stories would probably end with her pointing out the killer the moment it starts. As long as someone has been in close contact with the deceased and has the blood aura of the victim lingering on them, they cannot escape Flandre's eyes. One can only say that human effort is no match for instinct.

"Officer Hoshiguma might look big and hard to get along with, but she's actually very friendly. Plus, she's bold yet meticulous, often noticing things her teammates missed and filling in the gaps. From what I've heard over the last few days, most Operators really like working with her."

Beatrice nodded in agreement after hearing Hoshiguma's name. It wasn't until the moon rose high that the Little Tiger reluctantly said goodbye to Flandre.

"Flandre-chan, the day after tomorrow is the weekend and I'm off. It just so happens that my family recently opened a large amusement park in Lungmen. How about we go play together then?" Standing at the door, Beatrice looked at Flandre with an expectant face.

"Will it cause trouble?" Flandre wasn't afraid of trouble, but she didn't like getting into trouble for no reason.

"How could that be? Little Flandre, you're so cute, who would think you're trouble?" Beatrice reached out and ruffled Flandre's hair.

"Alright then!" Flandre nodded and replied.

After the two parted, Flandre went back into her room. Because Beatrice was there tonight, she had told Alina they would continue tomorrow. Fortunately, the other party had been writing for several days straight and was also a bit fatigued, saying it was a good time to take a day off. Flandre told Alina about her plan to go to the amusement park the day after tomorrow.

[An amusement park... I've only ever seen those in books. You must tell me all about it when you get there. What exactly is fun about that place? I want to see if I can make one for the children here too.] Alina's words were full of longing.

[Okay!] Flandre responded, then picked up a large bear plushie and lay down on the bed.

Two days later, Flandre woke up early. She found a red cloak to wear, covering her bat wings, and then went outside to wait for Beatrice's arrival. Around nine o'clock, Beatrice drove over and saw Flandre standing there like a porcelain doll.

"Flandre, how long have you been standing here!"

"Not long!" Flandre twirled her body to let the other see her cloak. "Flandre searched for a long time before finding this cloak in the pile of clothes. If I wear this, others won't see my wings and won't be afraid of Flandre."

Hearing Flandre's words, Beatrice lifted her into the car. "Like I said, that place is our family's property. No one will be afraid of Flandre."

The car soon arrived at the amusement park. Although it was morning, the weather was clear, the sun was bright, and it was a weekend. As a result, there were quite a few people who had brought their children here to play.

"So many people! How do we get in?" Flandre remarked, having only seen such sea-of-people scenes in her other memories.

"There really are a lot of people! But as for the way in, it's right over here!" Beatrice pointed toward the VIP parking area nearby. Although she didn't have a VIP pass for this place, her last name was Swire, and this amusement park just happened to be opened by the Swire Family. One would be an idiot not to use the power they have.

Sure enough, when she revealed her identity, not only did she enter the parking lot quickly, but the manager also came running over. "Eldest Miss, I didn't expect you to come for an inspection personally. Why didn't you say something in advance? I could have made arrangements for you."

"What arrangements? I brought my friend here to play. Go back to your work and don't worry about us... Oh, and no need for any special gifts or anything. This lady isn't short on that kind of money."

"No problem, Eldest Miss. I wish you and your friend a wonderful and happy time at our amusement park."

After Beatrice led Flandre into the amusement park, Flandre was immediately dazzled. She was led through the crowd and soon arrived at the first attraction: the Carousel.

"Want to try it?" Beatrice suggested, seeing Flandre staring intently at the people inside.

"Mhm!" Flandre nodded firmly. The two immediately went to wait in line, and it was soon their turn. After getting on the Carousel, Flandre looked around very happily.

Behind her, a boy pouted. He felt the girl's cloak in front was too big, blocking most of his view, which made him very unhappy. Seeing Flandre laughing so happily made him even angrier. So he suddenly reached out, grabbed the cloak, and yanked it back, trying to pull her off the horse.

But he didn't expect that when he pulled, Flandre instinctively retracted her wings, and instead, he was the one pulled off his horse.

"Ouch!" A miserable cry came from behind. Flandre turned her head in confusion and saw a chubby little boy clutching her cloak, having fallen to the ground. Since someone fell off the Carousel, the person in charge of the equipment quickly shut it down.

"Speak! Why did you pull my son off the horse?" Before Flandre could figure out the situation, a woman who was "eight feet tall and eight feet wide" pointed at her nose and started cursing.

"Ah?" Flandre tilted her head, not understanding what the woman meant.

"Hey, Auntie, those words aren't right. Our Flandre was in front, and your child was behind. Everyone saw it clearly—your child pulled our Flandre's cloak, didn't sit steady, and fell off. How can you twist the facts and make it our Flandre's fault?"

Compared to Flandre, who hadn't reacted yet, Beatrice had seen almost the entire process. She had originally wanted to ask if the child was okay, but seeing this kind of parent, she instantly lost any desire to be sympathetic.

"And where did you come from, you little brat? You're barely even grown and you're trying to lecture me!? I'm telling you, if you don't give me an explanation today, I'm not done with you!" The middle-aged woman was clearly a shrew, with a face full of flesh and no sense of reason.

Who was Beatrice? She was the Eldest Miss of the Swire Family. When the woman dared to call her a "little brat," she immediately turned red with anger and started arguing back.

Flandre realized now that these two were bad people who had come to cause her trouble. She couldn't help but tug on Beatrice's clothes. "Sister Beatrice, there's no need to argue with them. It would be fine if Flandre just kills them all!" She raised her crimson eyes and looked at the mother and son.

"Kill me? You little brat, how dare you talk so big! Let me discipline you on behalf of your parents..." Hearing Flandre's words, Beatrice suddenly felt a sense of dread. She tried to stop Flandre, but she didn't expect the woman opposite her to move even faster.

She saw the woman grab Flandre's cloak and yank it off.
