York's blade, coated in Internal Destruction Haki, sliced through the Seastone cuffs like they were tofu.
The heavy shackles fell to the floor.
Shakky rubbed her wrists, feeling the flow of her strength return. She looked at York, her eyes filled with complex gratitude.
"Thank you, York."
"It's too early to thank me," York grinned, holstering his knife. "You know the price. You know what I want."
Shakky bit her lower lip. She knew. By saving her, he was claiming her.
"Stop overthinking! We haven't escaped yet!"
York grabbed her wrist and pulled her out of the cell.
Outside, the God's Knights blocked the exit, weapons drawn.
Saint Garling glared at them, his knuckles white on his sword hilt.
"Pirate! You have the fruit! Release my kinsmen!!"
York smiled calmly. He raised a hand, tightening the glowing tentacles around the necks of the twenty-three drugged Celestial Dragons.
"Don't worry! I'll release the trash! But first... clear a path!!"
It was a tense standoff.
York and Shakky moved slowly to the left. Garling and the Knights moved to the right, their eyes glued to the hostages.
They circled each other until York reached the exit of the plaza.
"Pleasure doing business with you! These wastes are yours!!"
York snapped his fingers. The tentacles vanished.
He grabbed Shakky's waist and vanished, using Soru to sprint into the canyon.
"DAMN IT!"
Garling started to chase, but he stopped immediately. The Celestial Dragons were collapsing, foaming at the mouth from the sudden withdrawal of pleasure.
If he left them now, the other pirates on the island would slaughter them.
Garin slammed his sword into the ground, watching York escape.
"Guard the Nobles!" he roared, humiliated. "These wastes... are more trouble than they're worth!"
While York made a clean getaway, the rest of the Rocks Pirates were bogged down.
Whitebeard, Shiki, Captain John, and Silver Axe were stuck near the beach.
First, they were delayed by the Marine reinforcements. Then, a betrayal occurred.
"KILL!!"
"TAKE DOWN ROCKS! TODAY WE MAKE A NAME FOR OURSELVES!!"
The subordinate pirate crews—the thousands of fodder pirates who had followed Rocks from Hachinosu—turned their guns on the executives.
"This is annoying! GET OUT OF MY WAY!!"
Golden Lion Shiki roared. A wave of Conqueror's Haki swept across the field, knocking out hundreds of traitorous pirates like cut wheat.
But more kept coming. They were terrified of the Marines, but they saw the Rocks executives as a ticket to fame.
"Don't get entangled with trash! Saving Shakky is urgent!!" Whitebeard shouted, punching a giant into the sky.
"Damn Newgate! Don't order me around!!" Shiki yelled back. "I'll be the one to save Shakky!!"
Shiki tapped himself, floating into the air to fly over the mob.
GRAB.
Silver Axe leaped up and yanked Shiki back down by the ankle.
"Silver Axe! What are you doing?!"
"Don't think about sneaking off, Shiki! I'm going to save her!!"
"GET OFF ME, YOU METAL FREAK!!"
The strongest crew in the world was currently fighting each other while simultaneously fighting the Marines and the traitors. It was total chaos.
York led Shakky out of the Grand Canyon and into the residential town of God Valley—the pristine settlement built for the Celestial Dragons.
"Where do we go?" Shakky asked, breathless.
"We find Rocks," York replied, scanning the streets. "Or rather... we find who he's looking for."
They moved through the burning streets.
"IT'S YORK!!"
"AND SHAKKY!!"
"KILL HIM! THE WOMAN IS OURS!"
A group of traitorous pirates spotted them. They charged, eyes red with greed.
FLASH.
York didn't even slow down. The Holy Light washed over them.
The charging pirates collapsed mid-stride, rolling on the ground with blissful, stupid smiles.
York frowned. "So the alliance has collapsed entirely."
It wasn't surprising. Rocks ruled by fear, not loyalty. The moment the Marines showed up in force, the rats turned on the lion.
Suddenly, York stopped.
Amidst the screams of war, he heard young, desperate voices.
"Quick! Quickly!"
"The Devil Fruits are in the central plaza!"
"This is our only chance to escape!"
"Heaven is helping us! The Marines are all lying on the ground laughing! We can't waste this luck!"
York looked down an alleyway.
He saw a strange group of children running through the smoke. Their clothes were rags, and they wore broken slave collars.
Leading them was a boy with an abnormally large head and purple afro hair—Emporio Ivankov.
Running beside him was a girl eating a piece of stolen meat—Ginny.
And bringing up the rear was a massive, buccaneer child—Bartholomew Kuma.
York's eyes narrowed.
'The future Revolutionary Army founders...'
He remembered the lore. Ginny leaked the intel about God Valley to save the slaves. Kuma was supposed to steal the Paw-Paw Fruit (Nikyu Nikyu no Mi) from the plaza and eat it to save everyone.
York looked down at the burlap sack in his hand.
Inside that sack were nine fruits. One of them... was the Paw-Paw Fruit.
'Kuma can't steal the fruit if I already have it.'
York grinned. This was an opportunity.
WHOOSH!
He vanished, reappearing directly in front of the running children.
"Yo! Little guys!"
Ivankov slammed into York's legs and fell backward. Kuma and Ginny skidded to a halt, eyes wide with terror.
York looked down at the future legends.
"What are you looking for in the central plaza?"
He hefted the sack of treasures.
"Is it... a Devil Fruit?"
Ivankov's large face turned pale as a sheet. The path to freedom was blocked by a monster.
