Chapter 2 - The way of what

Critters sang in the background while Fuyumi lay on the grass, her eyes closed.

She enjoyed peaceful days like these, days spent in the mountain.

'Eleven years in this world and still no clue how I got here.... going back now seems like a hustle, would I have to die for me to return there?'

She rose her hand up, to inspect it and her cursed energy leaked out in small amounts.

She was basically a bucket with small holes pocked on the sides.

Unable to contain her cursed energy.

The problem was very obvious, her body and soul did not sync properly.

It did not necessarily make her weak just a whole lot weaker than she was in her previous life.

"Talk about limitless reach limits," she mumbled outloud, dropping her hand to her forehead.

But atleast she still had the six eyes.

Her mind wondered back to the day she had been killed and all she could think about was the number of people she had failed to protect under her watch.

As expected she had remained useless till the end.

She clicked her tongue at the idea of returning back to her original world—life here was so peaceful. 'Besides I'm sure Toru is okay.... he doesn't need me.'

The sound of leaves crunching made her part her eyes, Urokodaki stood above her—holding a pair of wooden swords.

Urokodaki had always found Fuyumi strange, she was always able to sense his presence and he would find Fuyumi conversing with herself.

He was not surprised.

It was bound to happen, kids often get lonely when they live most of their lives away from other kids.

She closed her eyes and rolled onto her side, pretending as though she did not see him.

"You have to get back to training," Urokodaki stated bluntly, dropping the pair of swords on her face.

She winced from the pain, her hand over her nose. "Training sucks," she cried pouting her lips.

Urokodaki was never one to bother or force her to do things she was unwilling to do but over the years Fuyumi had noticed Urokodaki's strange behaviour and rules.

"Never leave house once the sun is down."

"If you do not make it back, seek shelter somewhere safe."

"Always come back before the sun sets."

There was nothing out of the usual with the rules, but the sudden training made her wonder why he was always so strict about her being out late evening though he did not show it.

He was silent for a while and she could feel his gaze sweeping over her face.

"Very well," he crossed his hands behind his back. "Stay here for as long as you'd like, make it back on time."

She cocked her eyebrows up surprised by his statement. He vanished out of sight almost immediately.

'Is there something I dont know about this world?' She thought as she sat upright. If that was the case, she was determined to find out.

The lady from that night, the fear in her eyes was ingrained in Fuyumi's head. The blood trail, all evidence lead to her being dead.

"For now I'm going fishing!" She beamed, she picked up the bucket and headed toward the body of water.

She loved this world much more than her old one, here she was able to walk around freely without feeling scared of someone slicing her head off.

The day she and Satoru were born, she had become the gum beneath the Gojo clans feet.

Always constantly getting pushed around, unwanted because unlike her twin brother her six eyes were far much weaker than his.

Everything about her was a cheap copy of Satoru hence why her existence was treated as though it was nothing but a pest meant to hinder with Satoru's greatness.

She smiled as she threw the catfish into the bucket, wiping away the beads of sweat rolling her face.

She was happy here but she felt as though something was missing.

The sun had began to set unbeknownst to her.

She was too focused on catching the fish with her bare hands that she had forgotten to about her curfew.

"I'm sorry tired!" She groaned, collapsing onto the grass with a grin plastered on her face.

Then her eyes fell onto her treasure, the bucket filled to the brim with catfish.

'I wonder if Toru has eaten anything yet,' she immediately shook her head, she had to forget about her previous life.

But sometimes she could not help but wonder what happened after she disappeared.

It was only natural for her to worry about him, afterall he was her twin brother.

The hairs on her neck stood up, she rolled onto her side and crashed into her bucket—the water and fish spilled out onto the ground.

She immediately rose her head and her eyes sharpened when she saw a hideous being with large eyes all over its head, a tongue that hung loosely from its mouth and dangled between its legs.

It stood where she had stood, its fist had caused a miniscule crack on the ground.

"You're a quick little brat aren't you!" The creature laughed, it had its back turned to her. "Well since you managed to dodge that, i will make your death less painful!"

He turned his head to the direction Fuyumi had rolled over and was shocked when he saw a cloud of dust.

"When did that little brat run off!"

Fuyumi held her bucket close to her chest as she darted through the woods to the place she could call home.

Her eyes widen when she felt its presence by her side, it swatted its hand at her body but she leaped up and twisted her body.

She sucked in a deep breath and focused all her cursed energy to her foot and she rammed it into its head.

Blood splattered onto her face, she landed safely on the ground and continued running back to the safety of her home.

She rushed into the cabin, her breathing was uneven and ragged, she fell onto the wooden floors as heat surged through her body.

Urokodaki rose from the kitchen area, he stood beside her. "So you saw it?" He asked bluntly.

She pressed her lips into a thin line, her breathing was messy.

"Ready to begin training?"

She glanced up.

She chuckled at his words, nervous awkward chuckles at first then they became gleeful.

"That was the most fun I've had!" She admitted outloud.

She was tired of lying to herself, a simple life was not enough to fulfill the whole of excitement she seeked.

In this world, she suddenly found a reason to get stronger and carry the name of the Gojo clan.

That night Urokodaki explained the world to her, the demon slayer corps and the demons.

Eight months flew by in a blur.

"Fuyumi, complete today's training."

Water breathing was not compatible with Fuyumi, even Urokodaki was able to tell that.

The only training she was able to complete was the physical ones. These were: running up the mountain while a bunch of traps were set off, moving a boulder 3 inches everyday until the day it reached the top, a 100 swings of the wooden sword.

Even with all the training she was unable to grasp the basics of water breathing.

Fuyumi would run out of breath quickly not because of her stamina but because each move in the breathing style carried so much weight and pressure.

Her and water breathing did not click.

"This is stupid!" Fuyumi finally stated tossing her wooden sword to the ground. "This is pointless, we both know i can't do it!"

She sat down on the floor, crossing her hands over her chest with her cheeks puffed out.

Urokodaki sighed, he was used to her tantrums afterall he was the one that raised her.

"Well make your own breathing style," Urokodaki simply stated, her eyes widened at the statement. She repeated her words in his head and immediately brightened up.

Even if she was as physically capable as before, one that remained constant to her was that she was a Gojo.

Someone born with six eyes.

She did not have to play by this worlds rules only, she needed to imply her previous techniques in this realm as well.

Her gaze dropped to her hand, small amounts of cursed energy were visible.

"I gotta head out today, do you want anything with your allowance?"

"Paper."

Urokodaki was confused, it was so out of character for her. He assumed she would want more snacks and candy.

"A lot of paper with all my leftover allowance," she flexed her hands. She was going to implement cursed energy in this world as well.
