Chapter 390 - Sealing the Divine Card for Three Turns

Masuzu drew a card and cheered inwardly; her opponent had fallen right into her trap!

"I activate Pot of Greed from my hand, drawing two more cards!"

Masuzu finally secured the Divine card she had been dreaming of. In truth, she could have drawn it in the previous turn, but she had intentionally held back. She wanted to lure her opponent in by hiding the fact that her continuous spell, Magical Sanctuary, granted her the right to use spell cards during her opponent's turn.

Furthermore, Pot of Greed was a spell card. Even if she drew the Divine card during her opponent's turn, she wouldn't be able to summon it. It was better to play it safe and keep Magical Sanctuary as her hidden trump card.

Staring at the two monsters Ryunosuke had prepared as tributes, Masuzu smirked.

(Now I don't even have to bother preparing my own sacrifices...)

"I activate the spell card Soul Exchange from my hand!"

"The effect of this card allows me to use my opponent's monsters as tributes for a summon. Even if it's only for one turn, that's more than enough!"

Masuzu "stole" Ryunosuke's Alpha The Magnet Warrior and Big Shield Guardna. With the addition of her own X-Head Cannon, she now had the three tributes required to summon a God.

Just as Masuzu was about to raise Obelisk the Tormentor to call forth the deity, Ryunosuke flipped his face-down card—which turned out to be the Change of Heart card he had obtained thanks to the effect of Magical Sanctuary.

"I activate the spell card Change of Heart!"

"The effect of the Magical Sanctuary you activated allows me to use spell cards during my opponent's turn."

Masuzu clicked her tongue in annoyance. "So he wasn't fooled," she thought, though she didn't lose heart. Given Ryunosuke's skill, it was only natural that he knew the effect of Magical Sanctuary. However, what irritated her most was that Change of Heart was disrupting her path to summoning the God.

Ryunosuke explained the ability of his card. "I'm using Change of Heart to take control of your X-Head Cannon. With that, you no longer have three tributes."

"Too naive! Open face-down card! Enemy Controller!" Masuzu swung her arm.

"This card requires a payment of 1000 LP to activate."

LP Masuzu: 3000 – 1000 = 2000. (Note: Adjusted from 3000 to reflect the 1000 LP cost from her current 3000 LP status).

"This card allows me to input a command to control your monster!"

Masuzu pointed toward Ryunosuke.

"I'm taking back my X-Head Cannon!"

"Input command: Left, Right, A, B!"

The controller device, resembling a gamepad, registered the command and snatched the monster back from Ryunosuke's side. Now, Masuzu had gathered her three tributes once again. She let out a boisterous laugh toward the sky.

"Hahaha! Now nothing can stop me! Feel the true power of a God!"

With absolute confidence, Masuzu raised the Obelisk card high, intending to slam it onto the game panel. However, Ryunosuke spotted the opening and flipped his other face-down card.

"I activate the trap card, Lightforce Sword! Seal your Divine card and banish it from the game for three turns!"

Ryunosuke swung his hand. Lightforce Sword transformed into a blade of light that plunged directly into the Obelisk card Masuzu held high, pinning the card to the ground and banishing it for the next three turns.

Ryunosuke gave a disparaging smile. "Next time, remember not to hold your Obelisk card so high. You acted as if you were afraid I wouldn't know it was a God card, huh?"

Ryunosuke touched the tip of his nose. "Lightforce Sword requires a locked target. If you hadn't shouted 'Obelisk,' I wouldn't have known which one was your God card."

He spread his arms. "Besides, my chances of guessing randomly were only 1 in 5. Thank you for showing it off to me."

Ryunosuke's high-level mockery made Masuzu turn red with rage. She stomped her feet in frustration. Finally, unable to take it, she rolled up her sleeves and walked toward Ryunosuke step by step. From her demeanor, it looked as though she wanted to engage in a physical duel—in other words, beat her opponent up.

It was understandable; she had painstakingly constructed a strategy multiple times just to summon a God, only to have that God sealed for three turns. Anyone would explode with anger!

Seeing Masuzu approach, Ryunosuke took a few steps back and immediately gave a warning. "Hey, hey, hey! We are in a match; please watch your behavior. There are tens of thousands of people watching!"

Masuzu stopped right in front of Ryunosuke. She used her hand to compare their heights. "Aya ya ya~ It turns out you're a head taller than me. Are you 175 cm tall?"

Masuzu pretended to be cute by placing a finger on her chin and tilting her head, but her foot mischievously stepped on Ryunosuke's and pressed down hard—this was clearly revenge. Ryunosuke could only stand there with a dead-fish stare, thinking to himself: (What a truly vengeful woman...)

As if hearing Ryunosuke's thoughts, Masuzu stopped pretending. She gave a sweet smile and then used her beautiful leg, clad in long black socks, to kick Ryunosuke's shin hard.

"Ehe!"

After that, she put both hands behind her back and took small hops as she returned to her position.

Ryunosuke did not complain. At this moment, his only goal was to win back the cards belonging to his first wife, Ai. Other than that, he had no ill intentions. Even though Masuzu was a top-tier beautiful girl, his heart didn't waver in the slightest. Understandably so, as none of his wives were any less beautiful.

However, outsiders didn't see it that way. Don't forget there were tens of thousands of spectators there. Seeing their intimate interaction, the audience felt envious and spiteful, some even wishing they were the ones being stepped on by Masuzu.

Many of Masuzu's fans had eyes red with anger, and some even threatened to finish off that "bastard"!

The atmosphere became rowdy, severely disrupting the concentration required for the duel. Both Ryunosuke and Masuzu frowned. Finally, the host had to step in with a stern warning before the atmosphere calmed down.

The match continued. Due to the effect of Lightforce Sword, the opponent's Obelisk card was sealed for three turns. Now it was Ryunosuke's turn, "Draw!"

Ryunosuke had two monsters on the field that could be used for a high-level tribute (Level 7 or 8). If he had one more monster, he could even summon a God. The problem was, Ryunosuke hadn't drawn a God card at all.

Ryunosuke didn't know that his God card had been shuffled by Masuzu to the very bottom of his deck. Out of a total of 40 cards, his God card was at the 40th position. This meant it was impossible for him to draw it unless he had a specific method.

Ryunosuke thought for a long time before finally deciding on his move.

"I set three cards face-down! End turn."

He planned to bluff his opponent with psychological warfare. Even if the opponent wanted to attack, she would have to carefully consider what those three face-down cards actually were.
