The reply from Lady Bernice was even more surprising.
Why was she not standing up for her son? What exactly is going on?
So many questions ran through my mind in mere moments but I still couldn't understand her actions at all.
"Why?" I decided to just ask directly because I wanted to know what will happen when I take steps in the future.
Lady Bernice smiled faintly at my question.
"Because the pack needs change."
Her answer was simple, but it confused me even more.
She had been the Luna for so long. If she wanted a change, she had been in the position to pioneer it. Why didn't she? And why was she so easily supporting my actions?
Something felt very wrong.
"And because Mike needs to learn something." She added while I was still thinking.
"Learn what?" I couldn't understand what it was that the alpha needed to learn from me.
"That leadership isn't maintained through control alone."
She said with a hardened expression.
